Good point. And when we were flying that was at the base of it. However...adversity can also bring unity. Identifying bad habits and moving on them collectively can bring positivity. I was pleased to hear goody lost his sh@t tbh. This season and his coaching credentials are right on a knifes edge Some of the footage was just so damning ....and Lewis was at the centre of a lot of it. He gets one one more chance to continue his career imo. His sloppy , turnover kicking and lack lustre defending makes me wonder if he cares enough about us. If he does I want to see it!

If we lose against the doggies the week after this one then 2018 might be the year that the Darwin game demonstratably costs us a finals spot.

Agreed. But they may want to give Petty a couple of games to settle. Its the only thing standing in his way I think. But imo Petty really didnt look ready, so I think we need to pull the trigger and gibe him a go.
  4. FFS this makes me angry. if you look at where that punch is aimed its right on clarrys solar plexus. Which, if youve ever been punched there is both painful and a bit debilitating. Honestly..how the f@uck does he get away with that??! Imagine if it were the other way around. Im really sick of the shite this club and especially this player puts up with. Wish SOMEONE in this, What often seems like an overly polite, [censored] weak club would speak up for us. This is the trouble with taking AFL money I suppose.
  5. just missing out.....thats the Melbourne way. Go dees
  6. stay at home Deemented...this game is too important! ?
  7. he just cant influence contests physically. Its never been his strength I suppose but in todays game, with forward pressure being so important...his days may be numbered. Im a fan of his tbh I just think the game may have passed him by.

well, at the very least, I think she galvanised us behind him.
  9. wow that footage. Neeld happy, Tapscott, Magner, Blease, Mckenzie, Garland up forward. Im so glad we can just be in the future now and not have to live thorugh all the years that have passed again. A happy night in a dark era.
  10. Thought the boys gave evrything last night....tough to lose SUCH a winnable game. The biggest question in my mind after QB and last night is where the frik has Jesse gone. Utterly without impact in the two biggest games this year. He Fumbled, dropped chest marks, ran past contests and didnt get back into them similar to JW and misses an easy snap in his only chance. He neither creates a target down forward atm nor is any good on the ground.....but he runs a lot. He's turning int a flat track bully. Super disapointed in the player he's becoming in big games.
  11. B Awesome. This part is really important I think. Be great we could somehow have a gym or shared facilities that would making taking out a facility membership attractive. Then as part of the membership they become MFC members. we could start to work that whole side of the city into our base. I think the hawks had a big membership boost with their sharing of waverley facilities with the public.

Its been said here already but IMO Petracca is suffering under "he's gonna be like dusty" tag. DeGoey actually IS is like dusty in how he plays.... Petracca isnt. He's Still a decent player but I cant see him ever doing to other sides what deGoey did to us yesterday. I, like quite a few here, have never seen his "explosive pace". I see him mainly as excellent overhead, and a beast around the ball. But he just isnt yet really imposing himself yet in either area...and for me the alarm bells are just starting to sound. Feel like he needs to take a step up or end up being a fringe player.
  13. wasnt there but listened on the radio... great to see the old footy record there too. Trip down memory lane. I remember the media response was that Tillbrook and Swann were going to dominate the fwd line for the next decade. sigh. Swann was a gun in the reserves at that time too...when following them in the game before the game was more rewarding than the seniors.
  14. interesting reading the initial post...and how we were missing Tmac, Viney and Brayshaw for the opening rounds. Easy to forget somehow. Can you imagine if we were missing all three now? we d say how we were decimated. Dont want to sound arrogant but dees by 50 plus after a really tight first half. Gawn wins the ruck but Grundy better around the ground. Both players in the best. Phillips to be quiet as he will be outmuscled around the ball. Oliver BOG. Tmac another lazy 5. 90k at the ground.
  15. A man after my own heart.
  16. and I can well imagine which club presidents pushed that idea through! Amazing that this idea of "hard working" persists for those who are in fact critically favoured by the system they are involved with. In my experience the smaller clubs like us or more marginilised people often have to work far harder...and even then that is just to slow the rate they are falling behind. At least with the dees APPARANTLY knocking on the door of a few years of good times...and more friday night/ big game exposure we will start to win a few younger supporters and further turn around this membership situation.
  17. different game back then GCD. It used to be the semi soft position if there ever was such a thing in AFL. But these days, with the forward press youve to be really competitive at ground level too, and Im just not convinced re Weid and that part of his game. Love to be wrong on this though.
  18. out of your mouth and into gods ear as they say.

couldnt agree more monoccular. But it might have helped if the coach or someone from the club had come out in favour of Clarry back then as well! I still [censored] off about that. I think we're an easy club to pick on still. Maybe when we start actually achieving things eg playing finals, or dare i say it actually win a few, we'll have a bit more media clout or capacity to hit back. Still feel like we are too easily preyed on.
  20. I guess having signed, the next big question is in what kind of pay bracket did he do it for. hopefully in a deal that gave us some room to target Gaff or Wines.
  21. I dont mean to mercenary as I love ND, but he wont be around forever and neither will the queen for the holiday. I think its good the pies take it alternating. We can start to develop another ongoing blockbuster...our form this year will be impossible to ignore in terms of fixturing. Yes its true the pies got something out of it too...but it was still a generous decision.
  22. Completely disagree. I think he started at the perfect club Davey Dee. No only did he have the chance to be mentored by Roos who is, at the very least, a master in terms of managing people, but he also was at the pointy end of some really good list management. The position he took on was plump...and he is enhancing his career by the week. I look over at the gold coast at Dew, who l still believe turned our offer down, and think THAT was the wrong club for a first time coach. Yes we're success starved and impatient.....as we should be!! Of course we WANT a flag but I dont think we're going to sack him if we dont win a flag in the next 2 or 3 years either.
  23. but boy...we were good for those 2 quarters weren't we lol what was it...6 goals down at one stage to 5 goals up just before 3 qtr time?
  24. 1990 is the year that haunts me too Radar...way more than 88 or 2000. 1990 was anybodies and we beat arguably the best of the group 2 weeks in a row in Hawthorn. Losing Lyon ( concussed at training FFS! ) before the WC game at waverley hurt us. is that 28 years ago...goodness how time flies when you follow the dees. Theres precious few seasons in my frikn lifetime I can remember where Ive felt we're genuine contenders. Im hoping that Levers loss doesnt mean the end of that vibe in 18. We're gonna find out soon enough.
  25. yeah agreed. Not quite in the schwartz bracket but not too far away.
