  1. Spoke with my mate today who recruits for Hawthorn. He has 3 TAC sides to monitor and has done so for a few years now. He attends all the meetings etc etc. Interestingly, he told me today that Hawthorn rate Salem as the 3rd best player in this Draft. Freeman is rated at around 15.
  2. Clisby Frawley Garland Grimes McDonald Dunn Watts Jones Vince Howe Hogan Trengove Kent Clark Dawes Gawn Tyson Viney I/C Terlich Cross Fitzpatrick Sub Toumpas Emerg: McKenzie Michie M Jones Blease Pick 9.
  3. Sorry Dazzle. I refer to the initial post. Totally inane.
  4. This must take the cake as the most stupid, irrelevant, waste of time post ever.
  5. Great analysis Machsy. Buntine has kamikaze attack on football. Has some deficiencies but Cale Morton like he ain't.
  6. This hindsight crap is the fodder of losers. FCS let's finally all agree on one thing, our Recruiting under Craig Cameron was poor and our Recruiting under Barry Prendergast was deplorable.
  7. Rivers once again showed that he is very limited in his flexibility to match-up. He can't play on the real big blokes and is far too slow to play on the smalls. Thought he was slightly better than Josh Hunt but those 2 were 2 of the Cats weaker players.
  8. Don't demean the term All Australian by mentioning it in the same sentence as Mark Jamar.
  9. Just had breakfast with a hawthorn recruiter prior to him going off to watch more games and he stated that Zak Jones performance yesterday has moved him into the mid to late 20's and if he was to really shine next week he would really solidify his status in the 20's.
  10. Pick 2 for Scott Selwood. Just when I thought it couldn't get sillier than Pick 2 for a 30 year old Mundy. Pick 20 to 25 would be about right. West Coast would pack his bags and have him out the door in a flash for Pick 2.
  11. Priority Picks are now totally at the discretion of the AFL. They are not Awarded based on a set formula of wins as previous. This is why there is such speculation. It would be logical that if the AFL did award one it would be taken at one of three positions. Either the very start of the Draft, eg 1, or immediately prior to the first pick of the Club being awarded which in our case would be Pick 2, or after the bottom 8 clubs had taken their pick which would be Pick 9. One would assume that due to the plethora of young talent already on their list and all their stockpiled picks, the AFL would certainly not be considering PP for GWS.
  12. I spoke with Cameron Bruce recently who was extremely strong in his praise of Adam Simpson. I asked him about Brett Ratten whom he was also very positive about, however, his praise of Adam Simpson was very strong. I think that Adam Simpson has now moved into clear 1st place ahead of Scott Burns in the list of "untried" AFL coaches. I think the Club would like an Adam Simpson or a Scott Burns to come through with a young list, it is just how they orchestrate a Senior Coach like an Eade, Williams or Craig to transition them.
  13. Shocking decision to recruit Byron Pickett. Even Mark Williams stated he was unemployable due to the change in bumping rule. One of the Draft Picks we gave for Byron was used by Kangas to recruit their current Captain, Andrew Swallow. A shocking decision.
  14. Sewell is already cooked. By next year will be no better than Magner. We need pacy midfielders with elite kicking skills.
  15. Sewell is finished. Was at that game today. By next year Sewell won't be even getting a game at Hawthorn, too slow, no tester than Magner ext year.
  16. This thread at least contains Realistic proposals. I think Greenwood whilst he does butcher the ball would be a reasonable addition and would leave early Picks for talented young midfielders.
  17. Why would a 29 year old leave a Top 4 team in contention to win his Club's first ever Flag to come to Melbourne? Seriously, I just don't understand where you guys come from!
  18. Read the first post. David Mundy as good as he is, is 29 next season. Nearly as stupid as the moron who said we should get Pendelbury from Collingwood with our First Pick. Pendlebury would die laughing at the thought of leaving Collingwood to come to Melbourne. Even Parents will try to deter Melbourne from Drafting their kids.
  19. Trading our first pick in the Draft for a player who will be 29 next year is nearly the most stupid thing that has ever been posted.
  20. It is my understanding that anyone can be traded at anytime if BOTH the Player & the Club agree regardless of whether there is a Contract in place. Clearly a Contract requires both parties to agree.
  21. Jack must resign the Captaincy tomorrow. How awkward must it be for this poor kid to ask for anything from his teammates when he knows he has so little respect as a player.
  22. I had a mate go to that game yesterday, he has played a lot of footy and I respect his opinion enormously. He looked closely at Toumpas and stated there was a lot to be concerned about. He described him as a "waddler." Not enough pace for outside and nowhere tough enough for inside. He also stated that Dawes could not possibly come in next week ahead of Fitzpatrick. He thought Clisby has more to work with than Toumpas.
  23. I agree Ben. Nearly the silliest quote i have ever read on a footy forum. Brent Harvey is a true Champion, we would have to go back a long time to name a Melb player who has had a similar impact and we're touting a bloke who won't even get picked in the first half dozen in a highly compromised Draft as a better player. Fair dinkum unbelievable.
  24. I certainly wish we could draft 35 new players! We need to as we are quite possibly the worst team to play since the Melbourne side coached by Denis Jones or Fitzroy in its dying days. Naturally, I'm excluding the 2 recent start-up clubs. The only thing giving most of us any hope is the 2 Tom Scully concession picks. FCS imagine how bleak things would be if we still had Tom Scully and not those 2 Picks. I could never have imagined that with so many early Draft Picks a side could be so poorly skilled.
  25. Agree totally with the Subject, however, the fitness thing is a total crock. The fact is Magner, Bail, McKenzie, Bartram Nicholson, both McDonalds, Spencer, Fitzpatrick, Howe and Moloney are poor to extremely poor kicks and this is a pivotal reason why we are a pathetic football team. These guys miss targets in the warm up and in the first quarter, nothing to do with fitness. As someone said, this is the reason why nearly all these guys were drafted between 50 and Rookie status. Why else would nobody be interested in Nicholson? he's a great kid, has great pace and courage, but he can't kick so he gets thru to Rookie. Ditto for just about all of them.
