Probably the best offer during the trade period so far. -

In the words of the Paul McCartney: "let it [censored] be" And hold all my calls, I'm working from home this week! -

RIP Robbie Flower - Sad Passing of a True Champion

My love of the MFC all started with this great man, going to the G as a kid with no 2 proud on my back. In my opinion the greatest Demon, unsurpassed courage and loyalty - just how it should be. My condolences go out to his family and friends. Let's get this man a statue. -
After the emotional roller coaster of the thread, I just can't bring myself to see what is being said in a 'Liam Jones thread'.....what an anticlimax. I may just have to retire in this one, it hurts too much.

Congrats to Priddis, well deserved, and, a nice touch of 'Soul Glo' through the hair too.

The lead up to trade week is like the week before the GF for Demonlanders. I can see GNF and a few others with good intel waving to the crowd as they circle the Bentleigh Club in a convertible.

Christian Salem has had the misfortune of being drafted into one of the worst teams of the last 2 decades He was seriously ill (losing almost 10 kgs) which severely impacted his preseason, his first AFL preseason mind you He has been the sub in many of his games When on the field he has usually played on a HHF or in a FP, in a team with very few inside 50 entries and a high turnover rate He is already in the top 5 or so best kicks in the team He is a competitor He can win his own ball He hates losing Of all the players on our list, Christian gives me the greatest confidence of getting the best out of himself and improving the position of this club. Our lack of success and diabolical drafting puts unfair expectations on young kids just starting to find their way. The kid has played 12 games, many of which as the sub. Lets focus our energy on some of the supposed leaders whose continual lack of output put more pressure on young players like Christian. I had to watch the GWS game on TV, I saw Mumford run through Salem and knock him to the ground and out of the screen. I was surprised to see that straight after, Christian sprinting back into screen to the next contest and lay a strong tackle. We have a player. A very good young player.

I think this is straight out of WC. Trying to add to the instability and hold a strong % as they play for 8th spot. I think they may just do it.

I would still argue (bucket in hand) that Casboult is a average at best kick, particularly for a key forward. However, a player with his marking ability and size would definitely be of great value.......if his kicking was deemed adequate.

One can take a contested mark but can't kick, the other is a beautiful kick but can't take a contested mark. Personally, I would vomit and be very surprised if we drafted / traded in a player who was poor by foot.

Well deserved, need to find a spot for him on the Demonland Banner.

Alistair Clarkson becomes available at the end of 2016. After what will be 11 years at Hawthorn, he may just be ready for another challenge. Also MFC would become a very good grounding for prospective coaches ala Ling, playing under Thompson, and having an opportunity to work under both Roos and Clarkson. If anyone can, PJ can.

Wouldn't mind Barrett being right on that one.

Players to target at the end of the year

Possibly a worse kick than anyone in our current team, which puts things quickly into perspective. Attacks the balls well and has good hands, but, we cannot carry anyone else with poor disposal. -
Poor skills aside, I thought we were taught a very good lesson in two way running and spreading. We really need to some more quality mids in the team and one or two blistering line breakers. Players in pockets and flankers must have a capacity and ability to run through the midfield otherwise you're exposed. I thought the decision for Pig Dog as sub was interesting. He did have an impact and I don't mind him at all, however I question 'that type' of player being the sub. I think that perhaps there is greater value in having a fast attacking player that may alter the flow of a game rather than a bollocking type. Understandably, Blease, JKH etc were not ready for a call up, however, that is the type of player than can quickly impact games with only a few possessions.

Who are the best six kicks in our mighty team?

Watts Salem Dunn Vince Kent Roos -
Cross was also one (if not the) Melb player who was pushed back furthest in defence at the start of the last play. Cross then sprinted through the guts to support and contribute hitting up Salem. Another wonderful example of work rate and leadership.

HAHA, in isolation perhaps. I am excited to have drafted a 'non stereotypical' Melbourne footballer, and, I just don't know how to control my feelings. This is new to me.

Geez this kid is a ripper. I really think he will become very, very, very special. He is one of the few players that has aggression/determination combined with poise/polish and sublime skills. He loves doing the team things and backs himself in when it's his time to go. The pick 2 trade that involved Salem and Tyson will go a long way to bringing this club a flag in the future. Take your time son, listen, learn and execute, I will back you in every time. Christian, I love you.

It's character building, we all need a little from time to time.

Draped my scarf over my bosses desk this morning, along with my Ess / Ess / Ess / Melb quarter by quarter collect receipt.
