I would love him, he has dash, great 1 on 1 and doesn’t turn it over. Boy wouldn’t he stand out! Very underrated, B&F in a premiership team and considering the players around him shows just how highly he is regarded. Unfortunately he strikes me as a one club player, best clubman type.

Not very fruitful, particularly when he is the son-in-law of the President.....

From what I have seen, J Viney would be a very welcomed edition to our team and is clearly a top 10 prospect in this draft. Having said that, all top 10 picks in what is claimed to be a super draft are like Ferrari's. If you had the chance to purchase a new Ferrari for the price of a new Commodore, you would be crazy not to explore further as it represents far greater value. People say he is small and slow, so in retrospect, how many of us would not trade the pick 4 used on Morton for Sam Mitchell?

The kid can play he is actually one of the most intelligent players on the list, which, could be a whole other thread in itself. He, like many others on the list, lacks intensity and appetite for the contest. As I’ve said before, Watts needs to be thrown into SAS training from Sep - Feb to learn about work rate and hunger, and, there are a few spots on that train that can be filled by his mates.

There is an alternative. Let’s sack the coach and have the disgruntled players select the new coach. The psych test will be optional, they wouldn’t like to be told how to run the process either way. By coach I mean someone who would be happy for the players to advise of their preferred style of play and training regime. Modern game trends and proven finals football is not essential.

How could it possibly be the coach? The club and in particular this playing group have a habit of CHOOSING the easiest option, irrespective of who is at the helm. How many exciting ‘come from behind’ wins have we had where the players have left everything they had out on the ground? Since 2000 no more than 3 come to mind – that’s12 years people and God knows we have had plenty of opportunity to come from behind. Whether you like the coach or not, whether you like the CEO or not, as a player you’re employed to play. To play, as a minimum is to compete. This means to run hard both ways, to put your body between your mate and oncoming traffic, putting your head over the ball and to tackle with intent. It is the things you are willing to do when your team doesn’t have possession that shows true grit and character. We are at rock bottom and it is easy to blame the coach. All the coach has done is identified within the group individuals that lack character and grit. My guess is that he has told them this just to see how they react. Their lack of reaction and care for each other, the jumper and in turn themselves only heightens the lack of will and desire. This largely is influenced by the senior players, it has to be. Sport at the highest level is Ego driven and our senior players don’t like being told they don’t work hard enough. Their lack of receptiveness also goes a long way to reflect their lack of character. Watch WC or Syd play, then sit high in the stands (level 4 Q41 next to the TAB, food and bar in the MCC members is highly recommended) and watch how stagnant we are. The end of the season will be active, we have a ‘talented’ crop of youngsters who are being led astray and influenced by our more experienced players. If these experienced players aren’t moved on (along with Brian Royal) we as a team have no chance and as a club may not survive. By Neelding the axe we force the youngsters to create their own identity and give them opportunity to change the perceptions of the club. What would be more rewarding than dragging a club that hasn’t had the ultimate success since 64 over the line in a GF? To do that we need buy in, for buy in we need to change the culture. In the wise words of Yazz, ‘THE ONLY WAY IS UP’. PS: I read this morning that a Demonland poster flew in from O/S to simply watch the games this week. What commitment!! Give that man a jumper and throw him in the guts this week! Lace Out.

I can't imagine Cloke in the Red and Blue, but, I am pleased to see aggressive play by the administration to drive his price up. Will this squeeze out a Wellingham?.. It's obvious we need a good mix of quality mids, actually aside from a genuine Full Back, we need everything. As it stands, it will be quality mids that move this club forward, assuming the right development. People allege Mitch Clark is overpaid, if this is true, then our entire list is overpaid. Clark has shown everyone at the club how to attack and contest both ways and he has been here for 5 minutes. He has exceeded my expectations thus far, with very limited opportunity due to lack of Inside 50's. I can’t see the Demons throwing big dollars at another KPF, this in turn may limit our exposure to quality mids whom should provide more frequent opportunity to our forwards.

Making Collingwood overpay Cloke could squeeze out a mid on their list that we may have our eye on....

Many people talk of the great character Watts has, in addition, he is the most naturally gifted player on our list IMO. I can't help but think that sitting in the stands and watching J.Fitz playing ahead on him may just be the spark he needs to lift his intensity.... Competition for positions is fundamental for team success, Watts needs to be challenged in order to dig deeper. It's hard for most of us to think that playing at the highest level would be incentive enough, unfortunately, for those all-round naturally gifted people sometimes it takes more. Throw Watts into SAS training from late Sept – Feb, seriously.

Demons probe sponsor Ben Polis's racist rants
Vitamin Dee replied to M_9's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yep, Schwab will be under immence pressure - if he wasn't already. Things are spiralling out of control at a rapid rate and very few people have successfully turned the fortunes of a club around from a similar position. Brian Cook (along with Costa) is one on a short list that comes to mind, no doubt a position within the Demon hierarchy would be appealing to him at the minute…… How the hell do we possibly attract such an operator to this mifsud of a club?.... -
Melbourne and the Football World mourn Jimmy Stynes
Vitamin Dee replied to hardtack's topic in Melbourne Demons
We are all aware of his remarkable feats of strength on the field and his compelling story of how he got there. In the face of adversity and with nothing more than his resilience, courage and determination his story is unrivalled. Off field Jim reluctantly took on a role of gigantic proportions, the immediacy and magnitude seemed too great for one man. At a time where the oldest club in the land was on its knees, with a bleak and short existence imminent, Jim stood up. He was engaging, he gave the Demons a voice again, a voice that people not only heard but listened to. Jim rebuilt relationships, mended fractions and eradicated a huge debt, he walked the corridors tall and others proudly followed. Jim only knew one way, he held his hand out to the club just like the kids at Reach. Jim showed them how much they mean to others and how perceptions can be easily changed. He first created the vehicle, soon after came a path and Jim lead the way. Jim didn’t let the club walk alone, he provided the belief, rebuilt the unity and a sense of belonging. After Jim’s sad passing it is now time for others to keep up the momentum, drive the passion and ensure the Melbourne FC return to where it belongs. Let us members grab the hand of the club and continue the climb that Jim started. We are Melbourne, we stand united celebrating our clubs proud history and embrace the future. Being Melbourne means ‘You’ll never walk alone’. With this in mind and as a sign of solidarity, passion and voice, imagine us members standing as one and singing this anthem at each home game from here on; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T00x5sRbZrc With a True Beating Heart, Lace Out
