Agree. Which is why I said involve students, engage some staff and wait for player to emerge. If you are recognised by the community you will become preferred destination
-
Growing it in Vic does include engaging the growing number of Chinese and Indian students. They and their families provide a great entry point to the international market. i take DJs point about soccer and India but perhaps more factors involved there. You cannot look at the total population numbers as a large portion has limited economic impact. Qualified ex students will move to the upper economic strata hopefully and can become powerful advocates.

I am only interested in this game as to the amount of money AFL provide the participants. It will be good to get some reports from Deelanders in China to find the impact of that spend. i think China represents a great market and the AFL could do well in international expansion of the code. But Melbourne has a Chinese co as sponsor and has a history of developing the game which would appear a valuable introduction point. MFC should be used as the primary club for matches in China while reinforcing our origin. Why play Etihad when we could play Beijing but our home games all at MCG.. And generous packages to China for supporters as part of the promotion of the game. Lets get more Chinese involved in the club. I think this has been proposed on Dland before. Get to the Chinese students and provide subsidised entry. Employ some as support staff and wait for the players to emerge.

Hope you got my 50 Strange PayPal reference on my transfer notice. i think I joined lifetime previously so an extra payment which barely recognises the enjoyment provided by posters and the skills that moderators and operators obviously have. i have steam driven computer knowledge and can only admire your technical capacity. If the team functioned as reliably as you guys we would have had more previous joy.

I would like to see Trengove have a run. He seems to be doing ok at Casey. While all here are saying he is too slow and only good for VFL I recall seeing some very slow but useful players. Trenners always seemed to read the play well and looked slow as he operated in a different space. Lewis appears slow for the same reason. i reckon he can fulfill the Stretch role on the wing covering ground an linking. He can also take a grab and keeps his feet. This gives Stretch the necessary rests a young body needs to perform at Max when in the team. He won't get the pace of the ones playing in the 2's but may be ok against Hawks to see if he plays against the Crows. We'll need to have our best 22for the Crows so rest those who need itTracc out for Hogan = rest Trac and prepare Hoges after a week out. Maybe Kent to prepare for Crows against Hawks who appear suspect to the pace but if he doesn't absolutely dominate out he goes for Crows. i enjoyed the changes that Goody made to use our players and exploit Druggers patterns, but we could have been in serious problems had Daniher kicked straight in first half

Sounds a bit like doggies last year. They kept plugging away got stronger and found a way to win. We had so many good players but they were exhausted in the last, fumbles, lack of run poor decisions. some of the poorer performers need to have a good hard look and lift or go back to Casey. Hogan perhaps performs better around the ground where he certainly creates a contest. While he is great one on one he can't match double and triple teams Pedo Bugg Trengove all have experience at AFL level and could step in and up. i reckon Jack Watts is showing his class, others should lift just through his presence. We just have to look really hard at the Dons and beat them next week.

Just realised I have an RSA training course starting at 6. Pretty poor scheduling on a match that is finally televised. Bugger GO DEES

Similar feelings BBO but not so prevalent with obvious omens. Isolated myself from the festivities of Beechworth where friends had gathered. Didn't locate to the local match to maintain focus on the match which was at least being broadcast on the ABC. Disruption as others returned meant I missed the sequence of events from a 21 point lead to a 6 point deficit! I blame myself. So much optimism. so little reward? Champion teams find a way to win. (Look at the doggies this week) We just need to find that feature but at least we are getting closer. is there any point in flogging the obvious?

TEAM SELECTION AND MATCH PREVIEW - ROUND 4

Finally some clarity. We lesser beings are empowered through mention of your presence (where's that irony font when you need it most) -
Great info picket. Itmakes you wonder why anyone smokes. perhaps should be used when discussing contracts. You smoke your contract will be decreased to cover risk and affect factors. Sponsorship impacts should also be considered as impact on salary. These discussions should be had with Manager who can advise his client. But seriously. Hope the club has an informal discussion withJesse. How's the old man? Saw pics of you at the music festival.Did you have a good time. Hope your feeling good and rarin to go. His responses are more important than any of the ravings on here! But to add to them music is good for the soul, friends are necessary. I hope Jesse feels great and wants to play even better and longer with a club who cares about him.

I reckon the backups are there now, its just a matter of recognising when they are needed and keeping all the squad ready to go. younger players like Weed need to be introduced to the higher pace and intensity of the game while more mature bodies may need to be rested. Players should be able to play at their maximum and know if they are injured, suspended or just not at peak they can be released and freshen up in the reserves to fight their way back Its the squad that has the answer and we seem to be improving the depth with Plapp and his team.

TEAM SELECTION AND MATCH PREVIEW - ROUND 3
dpositive replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
More or less definitely agree. But definitely in depth knowledge of oppositions helps team structures and individual preparation. When applied well can have a huge impact on outcomes. My admiration for your input was genuine -
Would like Sydney to absolutely confirm their premiership credentials and destroy Collingwood. Return the mantle of inner city rivalry to the real Melbourne Sydney match as we rise to that status. If that rivalry can be achieved I'll be watching the Dees on Friday night blockbusters

Hope you are in our opposition analysis team DA. Any thoughts on who would match up against them? -
Would still be a more relevant factor than the blues medical report . But seriously we need an irony font
