  1. Switch Garlett and Howe and that is very exciting. Garlett has the speed and the instinct to operate close to goal and anticipate the fall of the ball at contests further out. We don't want Howe getting in the way by using Hogan as a step ladder too often. But what a pleasant speculation after a season so devoid of scoring possibilities.
  2. A full season from a rampaging Hogan.
  3. Fair enough. Point taken but it was not the contrasting view that I was commenting on. That is what I enjoy and look for here. It was the rabbit bit and as you point out it was an analogy. Cheers.
  4. Here we go again. Posting reasonable points of view with no personal abuse does not make you a "rabbit".
  5. Excellent interview. What I am most looking forward to is that feeling of excitement, sitting at the MCG and watching him get the ball and take off. No "oh my God I might make a mistake so I'll kick it backwards and be safe". HL and Garlett are exactly what the team needs to be competitive (and Hogan) and they are exactly what we need as spectators to restore going to the footy as the pleasure that has been absent for so long. Bit excited about next season.
  6. Agree entirely. Many people would find the too often abusive nature of many posts a disincentive to participate. If the snipers could find it in themselves to stop looking for trouble it could well make a difference to member numbers. Being belittled for not sharing a particular point of view is not a pleasant experience for many.
  7. Great stuff. Much appreciated. Looking at the range of colours in the footware I can't help but remember the Wiz being slagged off as a flash poser when he dared to wear white boots in, I think about 96 97.
  8. I watch a bit of the footy, not a lot, that is not MFC given spousal latitude but, perhaps not viewing the relevant games, did not notice Zak at all. This is most probably a beat up by the bored off season idiots at the Hun. Given the talent we have recruited over the last 2 years in the midfield is this anything beyond a romantic fantasy? Happy to be proven wrong.
  9. Money is a significant issue but they are outside the list restrictions. Every time an Irish player appears on another club's list I feel we have lost an opportunity. Age breeds assumptions. We had Sean and Jimmy and therefore the Irish were ours. Well not without the hard work that comes from determination and we lost focus. Could have made it mostly ours.
  10. I was excited when we got Craig and believe he did a good job in difficult circumstances. Neeld was either promoted beyond his ability or specified a task that was not achievable. Until his appointment as senior coach at MFC he was a winner yet here he was a nightmare. EFC have to be extraordinarily careful in their appointments at this stage and would have given careful consideration. We seem to be delighted to have picked up a sacked coach from the Doggies but in a different role.
  11. Agree. Hawthorn has so much money that if they thought a 1% gain could be achieved by altitude training that is what they would be doing. How did our experiment with heat and humidity in the NT go? On the other hand maybe we would have been even worse.
  12. I don't think Rivers was weak minded. Given what the MFC was when he made his decision and what he had contributed to the club he was entitled to move. Frawley is a different matter but how well have we done from his decision? Christian Petracca!!!
  13. Regarding Punt Road Oval 1 When Punt Road was widened the ground was shortened to an extent that makes it unsuitable for senior footy. 2 Richmond received a government grant to build facilities that cater for disadvantaged youth with a focus upon indigenous teens. If you catch the train to Richmond station and walk past the ground to the MCG on game day you can clearly see that it belongs to the Tigers. Community engagement is the first priority. Injured listed players attending local competition matches and signing autographs at junior matches provides a tangible commitment to the area. Players being the celebrity that hands out the cups on award nights. Ground roots hard work brings recognition and is the basis of many a long lasting political career regardless of the caliber of the individual.
  14. Did we nominate an international rookie? I feel this is an option we have neglected. We need to look further than NZ. How well did the attention to Ireland serve us in the 80s and beyond and our coach has an American wife which could well be the gold mine of the future. (Not so much for wives but for players). Are we looking?
  15. Although. There was a Victorian state cricketer, a bowler, whose name I forget who was given the nickname "Clock" because he had one arm longer than the other. High standard I would suggest.
  16. James Hird is a disgrace. Everything is about him, he is oppressed, he is wrongly accused, he is more important than the club. Whatever advantage we may or may not gain from the legal decision that eventuates you must feel for the players. Other than Fletcher and Watson (whom I admire) any one of them, given the vagaries of the draft, could have been ours. Then the poor sods would have been subjected to what passes for support on this site but they found themselves at EFC through circumstance and subjected to a program they were entitled to trust. They are victims not cheats. The cheats are the planners of the program and Hird was their boss. Ignorance in administration is no excuse in law particularly when the message, from the coach, the overseer, is "what ever it takes".
  17. A career in footy requires 3 things. Talent, attitude and a body that can endure. This guy looks really good. Lets hope the stars align for him and for us.
  18. Worry about that Trengove scooter thing. Going to end up with a big muscular right leg and a skinny little left.
  19. These training threads are my favorites. Many, many thanks to those that go and post. Fantastic.
  20. Hawthorn Carlton Hawthorn Carlton and also Essendon because of 2000 and Hird just doesn't get it.
  21. Oh dear, I have written on another thread that the way that various views are presented need not be abusive. How can there be any doubt as to the sincerity as to my post?
  22. Sorry. Confused as the point you are making here?
  23. Hung and hung again. Hello Jackie Lambie. Who does she barrack for? Not Clive or Tony it would seem. Years of entertainment to come.
