  1. I would support this statement in regard to coaches and playing lists but not presidents. It is obviously true of many (kennett springs to mind immediately) and I can't off the top of my head provide any contrary examples however the job of a president is to unify and focus not to beat the crap out of people. That is what PJ is for.
  2. I feel for McLardy. Despite 1000% passion everything EVERYTHING that could go wrong did go wrong. And he still takes every opportunity to talk up the club.
  3. I wrote this when I got to the bottom of page 1. Apologies if I am now off topic but I must say this brute makes my blood boil. My boy wanted to play AFL, hopefully for the Demons, and was good enough for TAC before his body let him down. The idea that, as a parent, my child would be at danger from someone like Campbell Brown because he loved playing footy, and above all else, playing footy for Melbourne gives a good understanding of why parents would discourage their sons from subjecting themselves to that level of risk. All these boys play many sports well. Campbell Brown is the single most compelling reason at present to encourage your child to use their talents in another sporting field.
  4. Brown is a nasty thug. Pickett lined them up and played very hard but if you saw Brown kick Strauss in the head here is a guy that in a split second senses an opportunity to inflict damage. What other player presently in the competition has that primary instinct? A very nasty piece of work and no doubt we will continue to hear of his illness after footy is done with him. To suggest that we would want that kind of psychotic behavior at our club defies comprehension.
  5. Excellent pick. Who is going to work harder and he could well have gone in the main draft. Any one who is still a youthful supporter after all the garbage of the last 7 years and is good enough to be a quality performer at TAC level is most welcome.
  6. Don't think so. Synthetic fibre allows and almost infinite range of colours as they are printed on the surface. Agree that the old colour was significantly dependent upon the material.
  7. If Garlett is available it must be him. All the concrete choices will be in place but the magic is what makes our game our game. And we the MFC, post the Wiz and LJ don't have it. Skilled and determined we hope, but pedestrian. Where is the point of difference?
  8. I have recently spent a considerable sum for a jumper with my name, in very small print but centrally placed, upon it. It has a collar and stars as has the insurance company version and the one with the idiot energy saving sponsor on the back. Badge of honour or clear indication of personal stupidity and/or club turmoil. As a nine year old I sat at the front of the second level of the Lady's Stand and watched our last premiership. In 87 my brother and I sang the club song from early in the last quarter as we demolished North and South and then sat distraught at Waverly in the fickle hot north wind as the Hawthorn thugs stole their victory. I still have a jumper from my childhood. It is wool and has many holes around the seams and the blue is dark and the red is deep. It is not Fitzroy maroon lite it is deep blood red. Let it be so.
