  1. ...but the point is, we did have them. They're a part of our team, it's why we got them...to replace Oscar & Frosty. Looks like a pretty good piece of list management. Saying something like what you are saying is like saying the Tiges don't win a flag without Dusty & .....
  2. I think he's being told to take more time and break into space...so many on here have criticised him for being too quick to handball in the past. I just don't think he has the balance right yet but will do and be a better player for it. Agree with 'A F' that he's key to our midfield. Tracc gets the glory but Oliver is every bit as important if not more so.
  3. I would say this..after a really promising debut season. Rivers - 2nd year blues I hope he can shake them
  4. We still get drawn to the ball...it's a big problem. Watching the dogs last night, they spread and give options. They do it so well. We have a long way to go.
  5. Yep, they've proven in other situations. They couldn't win without Rance (I actually thought that one) but have sailed through and it's like Rance who... They've won games without Jack and Cotch when they were a 3 player team. Couldn't cover the loss of the ruckman... Only had one key forward, no way you can win with that set up...did. They are a strong side as you say. How would they go without Graham and Lambert covering for Martin? They had the Cats on toast, we will never know how they would go without Martin.
  6. When I looked at the headline I thought..."what fool wrote this!" Well, I should have guessed.... I had a few other words censored, but basically meaning someone a bit challenged in the thought department...
  7. I think he gets underrated around here and by the so called experts. He was very good last year. ...but agree he still has another gear. Should step up further this year and get the recognition he deserves.
  8. Well, one things is for sure. BT & JB along with Jobe and Hodgey were appalling.
  9. Was listening to the most level headed person in footy at AFL level (in my opinion), Neil Balme. About the sub he said he didn't see the need for it and if it was his decision he wouldn't have brought it in.
  10. I don't clearly remember...was knocked around the head a bit in my early days of football but I think if you were 19th or 20th and didn't get on the ground it didn't get counted to your games tally... Usually they would give you a run at the end even if it was only for 5 mins but not always.
  11. Lets call this out for what it really is... It's a grab by the coaches to get some of their precious rotations back even if through the back door. ...and the AFL have blinked because of the preseason injury list and a belief they've solved congestion with their new manning the mark rule. On a sample size of one round of preseason games and a few scratch matches that's a real stretch. Everything else re concussion and that other classic Clarkson furphy about blooding players under 23 is all smoke and mirrors.
  12. No, I'm not missing the point...a concussion sub is not going to change players fudging their tests. Players want to play no matter the consequences. You can't help stupid.
  13. Honestly, a concussion sub is not going to make one iota of difference to future claims. The player is either concussed or not. If he suffers as a result down the track then he will have a claim. His lawyer won't say, "Hang on Henry, you don't have a claim...you had a concussion sub".
  14. We've been down this road before...and it got us nowhere. They're not at full strength, we're not at full strength. The cards will fall where they fall but if we're switched on I expect a win.
  15. I always think it says more about the user 'Bob'...I don't like it at all.
  16. Playing AFL footy at his size would show that he's definitely not soft. In his first few seasons he struggled to stick a tackle and opposition players took advantage. To his credit he's improved this area of his game. I think he's a good natural footballer but at his size you need to be exceptional and I don't see him being this. That's why I see him as a depth player.
  17. Come on 'Steve', where's the Oscar love...
  18. Funny, but I was listening to some clips of that Amazon Prime thing they've been plugging lately where they followed different people in football last season. It's probably good viewing but one thing that really annoyed the hell out of me was the incessant need to swear by the coaches...it was pretty juvenile really. It was like I'm a real man, I'm grown up and I really mean what I say and you've really got to listen to me because I'm using the F... word. Leon Cameron and Adam Simpson were the ones I heard in the clips... It's so embarrassing and more so because I used to do it when I was coaching...I cringed listening to this stuff. It's exactly the male agro rubbish you're talking about and I did it. Surely a coach can express his message clearly without...listen here, you know what they f...ing think about you, they think you are f...ing weak, just look at the f...ing s... in the media...are we going to f...ing take this or are we going to f...ing do something about it. It's really childish and pathetic...surely we they can do better.
  19. The concussion sub is the AFL sucking up to coaches for taking away some of their precious rotations. I don't like it at all but it's par for the course in a Gill administration.
  20. I'm not expecting anything, just saying if the club wants to build the base they have to do the work, not the other way around. I actually don't have a lot of faith in the current management... That's precisely what I'm getting at...
  21. I'm not sure that maybe sending an email, putting something up on the website and reporting on the game is being spoon-fed but if it is then I would think members & future members should expect to be spoon-fed. If you want to involve fans & build a membership base then you have to put in the work...it's shouldn't be the members/fans job to go searching.
  22. Same, if it's at City Oval in Box Hill. I was just around the corner from there around 7pm.
  23. I would say he was ok at times but there were some glaring problems that are still there... I don't see him being much more than fringe.
  24. Quite honestly I wish they would SFA and just play. They didn't look particularly angry on the weekend.
