The very, very contentious 50 for Dissent Rule
I think the rule change is fine 'Macca', the image of the player back in the day giving the umpire a mouth full had to go. What I don't like is the inconsistency of this particular rule and that Scott did nothing today to fix it, he in fact just made it worse. As said earlier by another poster the fault isn't with the umpire it is fairly with HQ.

Absolutely it is. If they really want to know why the umpire numbers are down maybe they should start looking a bit closer to home.

The very, very contentious 50 for Dissent Rule
"As to what that level (of Dissent) looks like, that's up to the umpire to decide, but we've been really clear on this. We have unanimous support from all the clubs, all the leaders of clubs, and in fact, they want us to pay these free kicks. That is seriously a dumb comment from Scott...and a total cop out. For the players and clubs to be totally clear then how about the AFL be totally clear and transparent. Spell it out Brad...that's not clear, it's a clear cop out.

Yeah, it was against Oliver and in a funny way I think it started our run on. Oliver was really p...off and went for it at the centre bounce. The team went up a couple of levels from then on.

NON-MFC: Round 5, 2022
I think it's about time good old Joey Daniher got weeks for staging. It's gone well beyond the joke now Joe. At least the umpires are awake.

CHANGES: Rd 05 vs GWS
The only training shot of him I could find didn't show his knees, more an upper body shot. I was looking to see if he had strapping, have you seen a full body shot?

CASEY: Rd 03 vs Williamstown
If you watched the previous game then you will see (hear) it's a blessing there was no commentary.

Farewell Luke Jackson
...and I'm sure there will be a clause in the contract to cover the new CBA.

AFLW: 2022 Best & Fairest
I hope Goldie is back next year...a real heart & soul player. Pretty close to our best in the GF.

CASEY: Rd 03 vs Williamstown
The ball is in the court of Weid & Tommy, they're the incumbents. ...but a few more performances like last game and the decision will be made.

CASEY: Rd 03 vs Williamstown
Been used mainly as a mid at Casey so not sure how you see him pencilled in as a small forward. All at different stages. I would think that JVR is closest to getting a game at the moment. If he keeps presenting the way he is it will be sooner rather than later.

Gil McLachlan Stepping Down
I hope the replacement is not someone from within AFL house. It's been inbred for too long now. Gale would be the obvious replacement from outside. He's ruffled a few feathers at HQ and that might be a good thing.

'@binman' I'm interested in your views on JVR and Howes. I watched the replay but the camera angles are not great plus you don't get an idea of work rate. Howes seemed to be out of position a lot but that may not be the case. I like what JVR does, doesn't lose many contests and works to bring the ball to ground if he can't mark it himself...nice little Tommy Hawkins in the ruck to Brown for a goal as well. Laurie is another interesting one, looks a footballer.

CHANGES: Rd 05 vs GWS
It was classed as intentional conduct with low impact and high contact for a two-match ban which can be reduced to a one-game sanction. https://www.afl.com.au/news/740734/from-h-s-protocols-to-vfl-ban-flag-demon-s-return-on-hold-again. Looks about right...it might be a reprieve for Tommy or Weid...then again we might try something else.

CHANGES: Rd 05 vs GWS
Good luck to anyone running with Ed on the wing...

CHANGES: Rd 05 vs GWS
My pick would be Petty back and Tomo forward that is unless JVR is showing enough to get selected. Smith despite what many will say is not a good forward...gets in the way and jumps all over team mates.
-
CHANGES: Rd 05 vs GWS
His kicking of late has been spot on...it's one of the big improvements in his game.
-
CHANGES: Rd 05 vs GWS
If he's competing with Petty for a spot he's not going to be playing a lot of senior footy. If you're talking stats Petty is 197cm v Smith's 191cm...Petty is a great foil for Lever and May taking out oppo talls and plays his role well.

Welcome to Demonland: Jacob Van Rooyen
Yeah, I don't go with this theory. If he still had to physically develop then yeah...but he's a strong kid. If his tank is up to it, he has a few good games and Casey and Wied/Tommy aren't performing well then get him in. As a first round pick you really develop your game playing senior footy, you should be ready to go.

CASEY: Rd 03 vs Williamstown
Believe it or not some have suggested it...can't be bothered with a search but yes they have.

CHANGES: Rd 05 vs GWS
I wish we could find a Mick Taylor to fill our forward line.

CHANGES: Rd 05 vs GWS
A couple more good games at Casey, unless Tommy/Weid turns his form around I would think it's all there for JVR.
