  1. Gunston can play more than the Fritsch type role...I wish we had him on board this year as he would make our forward half so much more potent. Great player...
  2. Given that Hardie bats about zero for anything coming to pass I would think this is great news...
  3. I also loved when Emmylou would do this live with Buddy Miller...
  4. I mentioned about stats at VFL a while back now...it's been a trend over the last few years. I remember when Grimes and Trengove were playing VFL they were racking up 30 plus every game. When ABN first started he was the same but noticed when he went back down a couple of years back his stats had dropped...Now we're lucky to see anyone getting 20 plus. You would think Dunstan would be a 30 plus player at this level...
  5. Yep, and will be lucky to get away with 4 weeks for that one... should be 6 at least. ...but the AFL don't control the tribunal so it's anyones guess.
  6. Hardeman was a great footballer, McStay is a good honest battler.
  7. The final series will be more interesting & informative.
  8. McStay is a very handy footballer but he's not the 2nd coming of Tony Lockett....we already have a kid at Casey who will at minimum be the equal of him in the next couple of seasons.
  9. He seemed pretty comfortable about the situation 'Nev', I guess we wait and see...
  10. Great story 'bin'...love Zevon, now I'm sorry I missed the gig. As for your mates, how dumb can you be?
  11. 3 interesting references there 'bin', bringing back many memories.
  12. Funny thing about the apology...am I missing something or can anyone see where he apologises to the girl? “I unreservedly apologise to the Collingwood Football Club, its Members, supporters and the wider community for my conduct in Bali and I accept full responsibility for my actions,” De Goey said. “The actions shown in the video footage are disrespectful and I accept that I have betrayed the trust the Club showed in me by allowing me to take my mid-season break overseas. “I fully accept that as an AFL player, I have a unique leadership role in the community and with that role comes responsibility. “My actions have fallen short of the standards expected of me as a person, as an AFL footballer and as a representative of the Collingwood Football Club. “I had worked hard this year to establish trust and confidence in me to make better decisions and through no one’s fault but my own, I have undone that trust. “Late last year, I was diagnosed with ADHD and I am trying to become more aware of why I make mistakes that I do. I have again made a mistake – this is an ongoing journey for me – and I remain absolutely committed to changing. “I will be seeking further support to take the appropriate and necessary steps to learn and improve as a person. “Again, I apologise for my disrespectful conduct. I understand that I have let many people down and that I have much work to do to again rebuild trust. “I am committed to making myself the best person I can be and I believe that the best chance I have to do that is in an environment where I have the support of my teammates and the Club.”
  13. I understand your point 'Cranky'... Consenting adults should be left to there own devices within reason, so long as they effect no one else. I think the issue was more that she consented after the event, said she didn't have a problem. He was lucky otherwise he might have been a real spot of bother. Still could be if she changes her mind.
  14. It would be good to get someone from outside of the inside club. ...but as you say it's unlikely to happen. It will go to someone currently working at the AFL after an exhaustive and extensive search.
  15. DeGoey and Stringer, now there's a match...
  16. That's what I'm thinking 'Nev', I'm saying the value of but don't see them having the currency in picks. ...interesting to see who they will give up and also who would want to leave.
  17. He's a good player and may well end up being a great player. People can try and convince themselves that he is not that good or not worth the contract numbers that are being put around. None of that matters. If the figures are right then he's gone. All that matters is for us to firstly get the most out of him this season on our way to a [censored], he really needs to stand up now. ...and secondly for us to get the absolute best outcome for our club in the trade. If they are willing to pay him these type of numbers then he's worth the value of at least 2 high first rounders. I don't know how Freo get it done similarly to how we couldn't get the deal done for Cerra last year...it's up to them. It matters not what any of you think he is worth, if the numbers are right then they are saying his value is extremely high.
  18. I think we will probably get an answer in the next week. Pure guess on my behalf. He's home in Perth for the week and will have discussions with management and family. If he's staying the new contract will be announced next week. If we hear nothing then it's a pretty good chance he's gone.
  19. If she brings what Goldy does she will be a great addition.
  20. ...and he's probably in the running for AA honours as a half back this year.
  21. Goodness me, what a miserable post....
  22. ...but that's not under this particular AFL policy. If they were on any of these drugs on match day it comes under WADA and the are s.... for 4 years if they get caught on that one.
  23. It does beg the question. The only answer can be brand protection, it's certainly not working as a deterrent.
  24. We're struggling to keep things in house at the moment also... I remember Eddie demanding that the club (at least the president) be told when a player is on 2 strikes I think it was. Could you imagine how this would be now with us and someone with a lot of inside information from the top leaking like a sieve.
  25. The way the policy has been set up it makes me wonder if the AFL are using mental heath as a smokescreen. They would hardly want players suspended for illicit drug taking. They may have deliberately set the policy up to fail.
