Struggled to make an impact so I guess his time was up, probably did what was best for him to get an early start with his life ahead.
-
Good call PaulRB, when he came into the side he was a thumping kick and that shot would have been well within his reach. Maybe the hamstring he did, was it last year, could be another reason he isn't kicking with the same depth.

Thanks Harcourt, I bet he's keen to get back out there, he was putting some good games together.

We're tanking? No, seriously it's a good question. Where is Watts?

That's about where I would have started, thanks Monoccular one of my pet hates too.

The Viney pick - another plan to force him to the 2nd round
rjay replied to Cheesecake's topic in Melbourne Demons
Looks like we are trying to call their bluff by playing him at Casey this weekend. Viney is being groomed to play round one next year. As Dr.Gonzo says prepare to take him at 3, and see it as a bonus if he gets though to the 2nd round. -
Don't get me started on this one....

The Viney pick - another plan to force him to the 2nd round
rjay replied to Cheesecake's topic in Melbourne Demons
We take him where we get him. Funny thing, Selwood not elite pace, not elite kick, but a thirst for the contest and tough as nails. Where would you take him now? Viney is the toughest kid going around and he can play. The story I hear from the local boxing coach who also trains another AFL club is that Viney is the toughest bloke he has ever trained, we loose nothing picking him up early in the draft. Would be great if we could get him in the second round but it's probably just not going to happen. -
No, they played him for the most part in the senior team, not in the VFL. He learn't his craft with the big boys.

I don't think it is a deliberate strategy either Ron. However I think Schwab draws criticism to the club which in itself is a problem. It is about time that those in the media that have issues come out and detail what they are. Denham for one (and he is not on his own) continually makes little back handed remarks but never backs them up. Put up or shut up!

Mike when you are reading this, I for one don't believe you guys didn't have a clue what Brock was going to say. It was a set up and we all know it, in fact anyone with half a brain in the footy world knows it too.

Spot a Robbie it is his signature move and I've thought the same, although Scarlett has a quick direction change signature move and he's got away with it for his career so maybe not all forwards and coaches are that smart.

Is Howe the best contested mark you've seen?
rjay replied to Deestroy All's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yep, went out and watched him in the Casey game before he came up and looked the goods then, so did a young guy called Tommy Mc. had to ask a lady with a record out at Werribee, who is number???? think it was 74. -
Terry Wallace on our trading/drafting
rjay replied to Norm Smith's Curse's topic in Melbourne Demons
Have heard similar and also think he can play. -
Pretty sure it's on the money Jose, picked it up at the end of last season.

Is Howe the best contested mark you've seen?
rjay replied to Deestroy All's topic in Melbourne Demons
The story was he had the best hands to come out of Tassie since Royce, if he can be half the player then we're on a winner. -
Jose, from what I understand he went into pre season with a wrist or hand problem so wasn't able to do any upper body stuff, then with the ankle and broken jaw he hasn't had a clear run at this year at all. I will hold judgement on him, I think he has the football smarts but let's see what a solid pre season can do for him. Hopefully he will play the year out now.

Was funny to see the look on Campbell Browns face today when the ball was kicked high over him, he looked around as he was making position to mark the ball and saw Howe coming...it was priceless. -
Excellant!

Tanking doesn't create a "losing culture" ...
rjay replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
You are probably right about maximising draft picks not be the overall cause of a bad culture. Not sure about your conspiracy theory but a good culture comes from the top down, our culture is not good so the buck stops with the CEO as the constant through the last 5 years. Time for some new blood at the top. -
Jack Grimes Needs to become Lenny Hayes of Melbourne
rjay replied to ashdemons22's topic in Melbourne Demons
Just let Jack be Jack, time on the ground and he will develop into a very good player, maybe even to the elite level. He will base his game on his strengths and by the sounds of things will work hard on his weakness to realise his potential. -
Interesting that Denham got off his Melbourne bashing and tipped the bucket on WCE for their strange positional moves against Freo a couple of years back. A caller rang in to justify it but Denham went position for position, made interesting listening and Bailey's moves against the Tiges were conservative compared to what Worsfold did in that game.
