  1. Yeah but you still have to watch the garbage pix. Didn't put Darcy in the thread title but I agree with all the comments. The thing is they have someone like Ling doing the odd boundary comment, Ling a premiership player and premiership captain, universally respected in the game yet Darcy trumps him in the box as one of the major special comments guys. The good looking moron v Ling, the one with something to say. I know who I would rather hear talking about the game, but hey again, maybe I'm in the minority.
  2. I know these topics have been brought up before but seriously how could Brian Taylor make the call that Collingwood were hanging on by a thread half way through the last quarter when WC couldn't buy a goal. If they were peppering the goals yeah, but they didn't look like it after the quick rally at the start of the quarter. Am I looking at it wrong? to me once Collingwood hit the front again in the last they looked in control of the game and seemed to have the answers despite all the efforts of Kerr to turn it around. ...and if they lose the ball on screen again this finals series, I mean a number of times there have been full screen shots of the so called action but the ball has moved out of the area. Talk about some umpires having no feel for the game, the producers at 7 most definitely don't have a feel for the game, they can't even track the ball. It's bad enough that they can't find the ball but then they want to disorient us with some of the camera angles so we don't have a clue which way is up. If we really need to see the coaches, or some action off the ball, an injured player then surely we have the technology to have some kind of cut in vision in the corner of our screen so we don't miss any of the play.
  3. Certainly didn't show a real thirst for the contest tonight unlike Kerr who was magnificent. Party tricks are not for finals football.
  4. No mate, Viney hasn't been playing TAC cup so how can you say that. His couple of games at Casey have been good and I don't know how (or even if he has been playing) he has been performing at Carey, do you? I know everyone passed on Darling, part of it was because of off field stuff but a big part was has final 18 year was not up to what he previously delivered, was the man child being brought back to size. Well, we know the answer to that now and would like that pick again, as would every other club bar WC. Selwood slipped to pick 7 because of an injury plagued final 18's year but would you take Gibbs who all the recruiters marked as the number one pick or Selwood now? Viney has been on the radar since he was 8 years old, if the club pick him at 3 which I expect will happen then they should have a good handle on what he is worth. To me he seems to be a cross between Mitchell and Selwood, not bad I reckon.
  5. It's not about a year with injury in the 18's it's about what he offers. If you look at it your way we would have missed Darling because he had an average final 18's year, wait a minute we did miss him.
  6. I think they will go Toumpas, they have covered the ruck picking up Jacobs and Jenkins. They are really keen on Toumpas, I hope he slides through to us but GC will pick him up if Adelaide don't or can't.
  7. I think he is the type of target we will be looking at.
  8. Yeah, he is http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/143899/default.aspx
  9. Who said I was talking to you, you've already established that you have no idea? I'm making a point that Viney is in a similar position to Joel Selwood in his draft year, both carrying injury both hard inside players and Viney would be a major mistake like Joel was for 6 other clubs if we don't draft him.
  10. From a TAC cup preview this year. "Oakleigh are always strong, like Calder, it helps having private schools in you catchment handing out footy scholarships like candy. Jack Viney seems to have given TAC a miss this year to play at Casey with the Dees 2s, which will hurt their midfield a bit, but they'll still be up there. Too well-coached and too deep a list not to. To watch: Jaksch, Stewart, Hachem, Prows" Viney was having his work load managed by Melbourne to play school football at Carey and some games with Casey. Viney played the championships after coming back from the broken jaw he suffered playing for Casey v Geelong. He wasn't a standout in the 2 games he played but had lost a deal of weight eating from a straw and still acquitted himself well. He was the standout player in the 2011 TAC GF taking the award for BOG. We take him with whatever pick is necessary.
  11. True and they won't let it happen again, Eddie or not.
  12. ...and you think we aren't? I'm sure the club will be doing everything it can within AFL regs, however I still think it will be pick 3 for Viney and very surprised (and ecstatic) if we get him in the 2nd round.
  13. Even better, they get in a bidding war for each others players and both wither on the vine.
  14. Ling has very good credentials to be a coach and at this time we are talking assistant coach, not senior coach. However if he was really serious about it if it were me I would take the Carlton job as it would give an insight into one of the best coaches in the modern era, broaden his knowledge. Having said that I would love him at Melbourne and yes we should have a serious discussion with him. You never know for certain how someone will go as a coach but if you have seen Ling address players as he did with the GWS boys and see the respect he has with current day players then chances are he will make a go of it. Is Tim available? he would make a great assistant if he was, didn't make it as a senior coach in a basket case club but has a good knowledge of the game.
  15. Toumpas is a different type of player to Jack, more an outside mid, half forward type. Really good player but Viney is Sam Mitchell like with more leg speed and the mongrel and love of the contest that Joel Selwood has. We're not going to pass on Jack.
  16. He kicked 6 and they still couldn't win, tells me it's more about team than messiah.
  17. Frawley would be a walk up start in any of the finals teams WYL, I don't think we over rate him here I think he is often maligned and many don't see how difficult it is to hold up a defence that has absolutely no support from the midfield. Geelong has a great defence but see how they started making mistakes when the pressure was on last night, Collingwood's just fell to pieces, no midfield pressure, gone.
  18. Agreed "Whispering Jack", I think we have a lot to look forward to with both these guys. Add my thanks to KC, your reports have been a highlight in an otherwise unmemorable season. Cheers
  19. He's not going to get them all right but the decision to cut Maric has been vindicated and the Clark get was a good one. Bate, he wanted to have a look at and at least he put in with his training and has worked hard, just hasn't quite come up. I like the look of Tynan and Taggert so I would say if they recruit with a like mind this year we will be heading in the right direction at last.
  20. Good source that Moloney will end up at Essendon and Monfries at Melbourne, not technically a trade but the same end result.
  21. ...and Gysberts scored high in kicking efficiency at draft camp but it is a weakness in matches. Maybe not enough weight on playing footy.
  22. It's a 2 way street Stuie, a couple of players who have worked hard to prove critics wrong are Clark and Jones. Does Neeld get credit for getting the best out of them?
  23. Wouldn't be surprised by this, was thinking the same thing.
