Over 4 million people live in Melbourne BB, a bit more than no one. We need to get over the suburban club mentality and leave old outdated thinking behind. We are Melbourne not some jacked up suburban club and the hub of sport in Melbourne is where we belong. We don't need to be hidden away down at the docks destined to play our home games at that ....whatever it will be called stadium in the future. Give em an inch and they will take a mile mate, no more home games at MCG. It would only be a matter of time.

OK need to get on with some work; we are not going to agree on this but I think our identity is the area around the MCG. Others have usurped us but we need to take it back. It is the sporting hub of this town and that's what we should represent. I'm on board with dee-luded on this one. Cheers

The club has given the basic demographic for the supporter base in the past to make decisions such as the Bentleigh club. My sources in this area tell me our supporter base is stronger in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne more so than the SE, either way our strong base is in the East, SE area of Melbourne not docklands. If you go down to the Census Bureau and check I think you won't find many families listed in the docklands area but you might find quite a few in the Casey region.

Like Essendon did when they asked for Hurley last year, and like last year Caddy won't get to where he wants to go. He is not a free agent, either a satisfactory deal gets done for GC (Wellingham will not be it), he stays or takes his chances in the PSD.

It might seem like it to you but for me it adds at least another 20 to 30 mins to my travel and as I'm working on Saturday morning it means I get there towards the end of the first quarter. Those stupid 1.45 games screw me at the "G" also. In your opinion it's an archaic view, the demographics just don't back that up. We've given up the old pool to Eddie now we just walk away from the "G"? I think there is still plenty of opportunity in the sports precinct for us and that's where our energies should be spent not at docklands. We will be in the wilderness like some team called Western something... Currently the club says its working on building a supporter base in Casey, well this is not going to help and as for the idea of a club setting up in docklands and drawing support from there well again look at the demographics. It is not a family environment and is set up for people who work in the city (bed sit community) or wealthy retiree's who already have a club allegiance. The place has no soul and never will. Doesn't make any sense to me on current and future projections. Think mate before you go on with garbage about my archaic view, it may not be your view, it may in fact be the wrong view but it is very definitely considered and considerate of where the club sits now and where it is headed.

Minimum ask will be Beams.
-
It's also being talked up as a hub with social club and the works, I think you are meant to turn up to that sort of thing aren't you?
-
Just watch a replay of the last quarter at Western oval in '87 and you will see how good he was.

Sorry but don't like the idea at all. Our home is the MCG and this only further erodes this, our supporter demographic is east to south east and this is on the other side of town. Melbourne supporters as is won't turn up to games at the dockland stadium and part of the reason at least for my part is that it is difficult to get to. We don't need to go there and we shouldn't waste money on it.

You can guarantee GC will be looking after themselves, don't worry about that. They will be wanting Beams, Pendlebury or Thomas or no go from them. Remember last year they wanted Hurley from Essendon and the deal fell through. Caddy will go to whoever can offer GC the best deal, not who Caddy wants to go to. As for Adelaide, if they get pick 2 for Tippett my bet is they will pick up Toumpas and not Grundy, would guarantee it with Ox's 98%.

Good call.

No wonder after the way Neeld was treated in the media this year.

Great player and has done a mighty job at Casey. If circumstances had allowed he would have been a great addition to the full time coaching staff. Best of luck for your future Brett.
-
My mistake, I thought they were talking about his 2nd (the Lars) one. I need to read more carefully next time. Looks like he would be a big risk with family history, his brother was on the way to being an absolute gun at Geelong. I hope they both can go on and have great careers though.

Gysberts gets a lot of the ball and has rising star nom. (differs from Stevens in that regard). Look he may well make it and so may Gys, both haven't as yet and are a punt. Is he really worth a trade? a lot here seem to think he is ...
-
Must be a very slow news week. His knees are old news, tanking investigation ongoing is old news. Too many journos not enough coaches to sack. Trade, FA and draft period are going to be a hoot.

The club is trying to up the trade value, if they rated him he would have played more games.

War about to erupt between Richmond and GWS

Maybe we are. -
Not good is it, his party tricks didn't stand up under real pressure on Saturday night. Healy loves him, Bartlett loves him, say no more. Jacobs and the Mullet a bit stiff I would have thought.
-
The other (real) reason is for the sponsor to gather information and build their mailing list.
-
At this stage his decision making is very poor going on the senior games I watched. Pace and long kick but not much else going for him.

Herald Sun reports Gysberts to be shown the door...Neeld has gone mad!!!
rjay replied to Tex's topic in Melbourne Demons
Last time I saw Frank he was in a bit better shape than Phil, but hey he might be looking for a career change. -
We have a big bodied kid who didn't get on the park much this year in Taggert, strong mark, good kick, think he will be a ripper and at pick 30 ish..... Just saying.

Yeah but you still have to watch the garbage pix. Didn't put Darcy in the thread title but I agree with all the comments. The thing is they have someone like Ling doing the odd boundary comment, Ling a premiership player and premiership captain, universally respected in the game yet Darcy trumps him in the box as one of the major special comments guys. The good looking moron v Ling, the one with something to say. I know who I would rather hear talking about the game, but hey again, maybe I'm in the minority.

I know these topics have been brought up before but seriously how could Brian Taylor make the call that Collingwood were hanging on by a thread half way through the last quarter when WC couldn't buy a goal. If they were peppering the goals yeah, but they didn't look like it after the quick rally at the start of the quarter. Am I looking at it wrong? to me once Collingwood hit the front again in the last they looked in control of the game and seemed to have the answers despite all the efforts of Kerr to turn it around. ...and if they lose the ball on screen again this finals series, I mean a number of times there have been full screen shots of the so called action but the ball has moved out of the area. Talk about some umpires having no feel for the game, the producers at 7 most definitely don't have a feel for the game, they can't even track the ball. It's bad enough that they can't find the ball but then they want to disorient us with some of the camera angles so we don't have a clue which way is up. If we really need to see the coaches, or some action off the ball, an injured player then surely we have the technology to have some kind of cut in vision in the corner of our screen so we don't miss any of the play.
