  1. If Tippett goes to the draft there is no chance of him getting to Sydney. A bit like Lambert and Brisbane (Walls), he will go were he is picked.
  2. You're right there and like Caddy a player can request all they want but in the end it is up to the clubs doing a deal or it's off to the draft. If he went to the draft I don't think Tippett would slide through to the Swans like Ball to the Pies a few years back, we would have to take him at pick 13/14 if he hadn't already been taken by the Doggies, Carlton or any of the other clubs in between.
  3. On this forum I've heard it, as rumours, maybe some baseless media reports. Nothing of the sort from the club, unless the receptionist has been talking or maybe one of the cleaning staff.
  4. Very expensive lifestyle...watch out for the reality show "Keeping up with the Franklins"
  5. I haven't been a fan of Brent and how he fits with our club, however I have no doubt he gave it his best as he would see it and I hope he does get picked up by another club to continue his career. I do get annoyed however with our friends in the media, when they use him as a reason as to why we are in disarray. Senior players are deserting the club. The lack of interest from other clubs tells me we have it right.
  6. Denham has a problem with CS, he needs to clear the air on this and not hide behind a campaign to smear the entire club. Come on Greg get some balls and tell us what the real issue is.
  7. This is the point, if it's for extra cost of living then it can't go into the consolidated salary cap figure, it must be kept separate and paid across the board as you say. If it is about the Sydney market and the go home factor then the AFL need to be clear about it and not hide behind the cost of living BS.
  8. I may be repeating myself about White, can't remember but to me he lacks awareness, a bit of a poor mans Kosi and that can't be good.
  9. The talk has been the dogs and Martin but as "Redleg" says they may go Hogan. My bet would be on Hogan as they are crying out for a big forward and have enough skinny kids of their own. I think there will only be one MD player taken unless GC get into the act or GWS are prepared to take bids from further down the pecking order.
  10. That's true, I've said the same on another thread. Although others think they may take Grundy instead of Toumpas to replace Tippett, my money would be on Toumpas...but we may get lucky.
  11. Moloney gone helps Silvia. I would have traded him a year or 2 back as I thought we had too many dumb footballers in the team, including him with the likes of Moloney and Jones. Jones has stepped up and Silvia seems to have finally turned the corner, Neeld had him do some stopping jobs and not just free running that he was used to in the past. He seems to have stuck to the task so now I'm more inclined to keep him on. We can probably afford one dumb footballer so long as he keeps up the work rate.
  12. I'm not a fan of the term inside and outside mids. You've just got to be good and all the good ones cover both inside and spread for outside. The swans get some run from Jetta but all their grunt so called inside mids work hard to spread and provide an outside option. That's what we need. By the way "Olisik", I think you are right with Toumpas. GC will take him unless they need to use the pick for Tippett. We may get lucky.
  13. I think he would be worth it in the 2nd round and speculative is probably the wrong word, he has a lot of good attributes that could see him being a player. It's our history with tall skinny kids (apart from Flower) that muddies the waters. At the start of season 2011 had someone told me we would pick up Viney, Toumpas and Haynes this draft I would have been happy with that.
  14. Think Dustin Martin v Tom Scully and you get similar to Whitfield v Viney (I know Martin is taller), it's Viney for us. Is he 3rd best, well I guess that's the debate or part of the debate on here. It would seem there are a group of players similarly rated in top 10 throw up the cards and see which way they land. Great if we can get him in the 2nd round but on pure player value we lose nothing taking him at 3.
  15. Rounds has been delisted as far as I know. Keep pick 13.
  16. He's certainly dropped down the rankings this year, he was looked at as being top 10 but now he will be speculative. "Deers" looks to have the reason why, he is a tall skinny kid. Viney will know a lot more about him and whether he is worth a later pick if available, certainly ticks boxes for us, speed and ball use but you do have to get it to use it.
  17. I think the AFL have used this cost of living thing as an excuse to boost the code in Sydney, now that seems pretty obvious. If it were really about cost of living and they were serious about it then they would not use the salary cap to do it as it doesn't ensure an even distribution of money to all players as far as I can tell. An equal allowance would be given to all players based on immediate family members (wife and kids) to cover the cost. It doesn't matter if you are the highest paid player or the lowest, it still costs the same of course apart from individual access. The system as is, is open for abuse and the Swans may well have overstepped the mark with Tippett.
  18. That would be something to see "WYL" Noticed that Denham also put a little jab in to CS while he was on, now I'm not a fan of CS at all but I think Denham should lay out what the problem(s) is rather than his continual sniping.
  19. Absolute "Crap" says Greg Swan, we are not interested in Jack Watts. End of story.
  20. Yep "Clint" he dodged it like a true politician.
  21. Tim and Andy said they had contacted Jack's manager and surprise, surprise it is a no story.
  22. I was meaning Nick, Jack is a long way off the players I mentioned. But be that as it may the weekends game and Buddy just highlight how difficult it is to get the kicking right and how it can cost in the big games. ...and having said that, if he was half as good as Buddy he would be a good get. I'm not sure we have the luxury of picking up a player for 2014 although I'm getting a bit philosophical (more to the point worn out by all the BS being talked by the key players and reporters in this trade period, it's only day 4) about the whole thing now and will just see what happens.
  23. Depends a bit on Tippett I think, and any room left in the cap after he's done.
  24. He started training with the group last pre season so I don't see any problem with him starting with them again this year.
  25. I've been pumping up Toumpas a bit but wouldn't be disappointed to pick up Wines if that's how the cards fell.
