Yep, Sheahan is the one who spent a bit of time back.
-
Sheahan is probably a better bet than both these to come on, played some really good football in his first year with Casey.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRIS DAWES
rjay replied to Norm Smith's Curse's topic in Melbourne Demons
'Ben', I would have liked to pick up the 3 mids as well but we may be better off than we think as we also have Taggert who showed some promise in his limited time on field with Casey so he will be like a new recruit next season. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRIS DAWES
rjay replied to Norm Smith's Curse's topic in Melbourne Demons
Dawes hasn't played consistently good football since the premiership year and I would have reservations as I did with the idea of Clark becoming a key forward. Neeld and his offsiders were right about Clark so I guess I will put my faith in them with Dawes. Neeld and Brown have both worked closely with him so should know what they are getting. -
Robinson would get a game for us agreed, but the tough hard at it reputation he has is not always the case. He does pick and choose in a marking contest, he's not Jonathan Brown or big Mitch who probably for their own and everyone else's safety should back off at times. I re read it by the way and you were talking about Yarran as a swap not Yarran and pick 11, so my point stands, their classiest player for ours. I certainly wouldn't put Robinson in that field.
-
Understand the point about match day coaching but he is only a first year coach who was more intent on seeing what he had. Next season we will have a better idea with a team that is more of his making.
-
So we trade our most talented player for theirs? Mitch "choose the contest" Robinson, you have to be joking.

Sellars Job. -
No more JD please.....

Cheers, you're probably on the money there 'H_T'. I took it they he was referring to us a club full cast off players but your take makes more sense.
-
I agree in part with what you are saying, Cook has good skills and presence of mind that would have stood him well at a higher level. He just didn't make his mark at the lower level, he got named as an emergency after a couple of good games at Casey and went down hill from that point on. He was probably only one game away from a senior call up. But you are right in that we don't know what goes on behind the scenes and can only make our observations from the outer.
-
Not really right; at the moment we have only signed one player from another club this trade f/a period and 3 kids. We may be talking to a lot as we should but lets see where that takes us. He makes so many calls he has to get one right I guess. I still remember how he berated a caller last year around finals time when Denham was stating that Yarran was an absolute champion, the caller thought the champion tag was a bit premature. Good player when things are going for him Yarran, pace to burn and skills but champion? Football is not Denhams strong suit.

No, I'm basing it on observation; and it looks like we were project team that got nowhere. There is nothing wrong with aiming higher. We are not putting outward pressure on Hogan but I would expect his aim (and the clubs) is to be playing AFL round one 2014.

I've said this before but I think one of Lucas' biggest problems was he bought in to the development culture that was around with Bailey. In an early interview he was talking about getting some games with Casey and taking time to develop. I know he is a different character but does anyone think that Jack Viney will be looking to play some games at Casey or wanting to play game one AFL 2013? Lucas didn't aim high enough. Tommy Mc didn't put any restrictions on himself and played some senior games in his first year, watching him play at Casey you could see he was involved in the game, he knew he had one shot at it and he was going for it. As 'WYL' says, he didn't ask to be pick 12 which is true. I just wonder if he has the mental strength and desire to make it as an AFL footballer, he can play but can he play at the highest level and will he get the opportunity. Time will tell.
-
The club management's job is to stay out of FD matters as much as possible, we don't have to look too far back to see the problems caused if they don't. Brent is apparently a good bloke from all reports but to me he has always been a selfish footballer and it will be hard for him to change that on ground behaviour at this time of his career. A good time for him to move on.
-
Maybe having a chat with Jimmy Toumpas while they are there. Jesse White would be cheap for a reason, I don't think we will be going there.
-
I think if you look at some of Neelds pressers and the fact they kept selecting him then that is what they were aiming to do. It just became a toxic position to keep playing him as the season went on, it wasn't going to work. The team had to start moving on without him.

Graham at 20 for me.
-
Probably not but Graham is a good one and may well be there. Wouldn't be surprised if Collingwood took Graham though with their 17 though, don't know why but he looks the type they have gone for in the past.
-
Graham looked really good to me in the TAC cup GF. Would be a good get.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JIMMY TOUMPAS

That was kids doing and interview a couple of years ago. You can guarantee if Jack Viney thinks he is a player then he isn't a soft outside mid. -
Good one 'BB', did you mean Kim?
-
No, Neeld drove this one. BP may have been the recruiting boss at the time but it doesn't mean he was the decision maker.

Bon Scott could sing the theme song.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BILLY STRETCH

Hopefully we won't have to worry picking him up at 3 being overs, and he is a steal at 20 something. Our first pick in the draft that year.
