  1. Who is running the show at the AFL since Scott moved on? Seems to be a rudderless ship.
  2. Selwood gone, Hawkins foot surgery, short preseason...the oldies all a year older. They would need a lot to go right from here.
  3. I didn't realise he was that old...the perennial young developing tall forward.
  4. I think Jamie is a bit old for a comeback now...
  5. I think Tommo is the classic almost footballer 'dazz' Hasn't been able to nail down a position but been in the system coming up 11 seasons. Turning 30 later in the season, I guess it's now or never for him.
  6. Sure does, I try to avoid driving during the day unless I absolutely have to.
  7. Jake Lever is the obvious choice. The only issue for me is injury. Seems to get a lot of niggles that mean he is not always in full training.
  8. 3 facepalms to 1 '@Lord Nev'...that's hardly fair.
  9. I wouldn't be surprised to see her move in a different direction... Management role either with the AFL or Football Department at clubland. The Scott/Hocking role would be ideal for her in a few years.
  10. You have consistently said you do...
  11. I think you are both wrong. The FD has a much better idea of who is equiped to play. On that senior list Brown, Baker, Weed, Dunstan, Tommo, Smith, & Melk, 3 have gone, one (Tommo) we couldn't move on and another (Smith) always injured. So Dunstan and Melk who were both used. Obviously our depth wasn't as good (or ready) as a lot here thought. As for mentioning Howes "Nev'...I don't get your point, he was injured. ...and they would likely have pulled the trigger on him as they did with disco if he wasn't. So they weren't averse to playing kids but the kids had to be ready to go.
  12. There really weren't any walk up starts at Casey. To win a VFL flag you generally have a solid core of senior players & some promising kids in development. We had Brown, Baker, Weed, Dunstan, Tommo, Smith, Buntine, Munro, White & Melk...the AFL listed were all in the break glass in case of emergency category. Apart from Melk those who got a run hardly fired a shot when played at AFL level. Of our younger brigade only Chandler & Bedford were pushing. Bedford was sub in a million games. Neither would have made a huge difference. Disco was stiff with injury. Bowey ran into form too late in the season, but he is the one that could have made a difference. JVR wasn't ready. Wishing was never going to make it so...the club did the right thing long term in holding him back. The beauty of the VFL flag was twofold 1. It rewarded some loyal servants & 2. It gave the developing younger brigade a taste of success. edit: so I reckon '@binman' was spot on.
  13. RIP Jeff...over the journey probably the greatest of the rock guitar players.
  14. Might add this one...fascinating band the Reels. First met them at the Station Hotel and they were kind of a prog rock band then they morphed into a pop band with songs like Prefab Heart but Quasimodo's is the one for me (I liked all by the way).
  15. Agree, the whole year just didn't look right and we finished 2nd after the H & W. Still we didn't really look like it. I thought the same re Salem...very strange. Same with Rivers.
  16. Then what was the point? the point or posting? I'm a bit slow today...
  17. People are allowed to change opinions 'Nev'. I think it's would be a good thing if more of us did when faced with critical evidence rather than hold an entrenched view and argue it to the death.
  18. I don't think we were in the position to rest our key players 'dazz'... Geelong could do it because of the easy draw they had in the last part of the season, ours wasn't so kind plus midseason results meant we had to work for our top 4 spot. The opportunity just didn't present itself. In the end it was all for nothing. Then again maybe not if lessons were learnt.
  19. Yep, at worst he blocks space...less room for forwards to lead for the chip pass. Most likely pressure up the ground will see more get out of jail kicks which we can pick off.
  20. I can't complain, we got a flag and he was a key player. Would loved to have kept him. ...but is the hype bigger than the individual. When it gets to a certain level I would say it always is.
  21. Just trying to make you happy 'Bring Back'...
  22. The AFLW season and premiership was the highlight for me in 2022. The way they played and the spirit they played with I found really engaging.
