  1. Lobb is not that, at least not a good one. The Weid call by the way is him about 5th in line, Tommy 4th...just saying that we will have depth if we recruit needs.
  2. I would hold 'bin'...if we get another ruck (Grundy) and a developing ruck., then we will have Weid and Tommy who can pinch hit if needed. A player like Gunston might be a better bet then than Lobb, he's certainly a proven finals performer. Lob isn't.
  3. Exactly Why? I get the idea of Lobb, but surely we can find a better alternative.

I think Adem would be great appointment for EFC. ...but with Sheedy still on the board and Hird wanting in it might not be in Adem's best interest. Interesting times for the coaching sub committee also.

Would prefer to see Swans win it... ..then Brisbane Geelong but Danger gets injured in Prelim and can't play, Scott gets COVID & can't coach. Collingwood but Howe misses due to injury. Sorry for the bit of mean spirit but I couldn't take Howe or Danger holding up the cup.
  6. I think Zanker will stand up this week 'Werribee'...she's probably got more raw talent than anyone on the list, just needs to put it together consistently I hope Goldy is back, one of my favourites.

It's actually not 'Jimmy'...it's more about what's seen as his future output after time spent in a good system.

    snap...

I would say that's accepting mediocrity....

Taylor has nothing to do with it apart from his advice on the players in a deal. It's the list manager and FD manager that will negotiate...

Jackson could develop into a very good mid...

Not totally correct 'Nev'...Danger gave up his rights as a free agent so the Cats had to trade. This is not the same but if Jackson doesn't nominate a club then in effect he is influencing the deal a bit.

Apart from JVR he looks like a real prospect, probably the best of the bunch that have yet to play an AFL game.

Very clear...he just didn't have the leap to get over opponents that he generally does. Will be a very good player, yet to be seen where.
  15. Should've tagged Neale...
  16. Totally agree 'Turner'...they also have Lynch who is very susceptible to injury and Prestia who can't stay on the park. GWS are a better prospect for finals than the Tiges.
  17. Let the season unfold before we look for excuses/reasons. For all the handwringing on these boards we still finished 2nd at the end of the home and away season. ..and we're still in the race.
  18. So, what is the big picture? Is it obvious or is it an educated guess on your behalf?

There's an element of truth about this...contested marking is definitely harder as a forward where your opposition is generally trying to spoil but his marking is still a weapon there, he will rarely be out marked.
  20. I would think the opposite. Fix it and we win.
  21. So why would you think Burgess had a say in selection? He would say if the player was right to go no doubt as would Griffith. ...and according to Burgess, Goody placed faith in his staff to do their job. I don't see why this would change, it's smart management. Let the expert do his job.
  22. There is no guarantee of a dynasty (I know you aren't saying it is) but our opportunity is now. I think if you want to win it then you are not going to be able to have a balanced list. It's either one or the other, the system just doesn't allow it. Posted similar but our timelines are different. I think 2 maybe 3 years (2024/2025 max) is what we have to win another flag/s from this list. Retirements/age (Max, May, Brown, Tommy Mac), fatigue from multiple finals campaigns and injury take real effect after this. Unless we try the Geelong approach and top up the list. ...but to date that hasn't been overly successful. If they happen to win it this year then watch all the copycats.
  23. Depth is an illusion...just saying. You never can cover your top end talent. We do it as well as any but you are always going to get lesser otherwise that replacement would be a regular. As for age profile...the AFL draft system is set up to make it impossible to have a balanced list. Why do you think Richmond is on the wane, Hawthorn have dropped back and Geelong are aged pensioners. The Cat's have worked the system better than anyone and might just grab the reward this year but they're one Cameron hamstring off tears. This is why we need to make the most of the next couple of years...
  24. So, it looks like neither party has the political will to update the legislation. The big end of town is in control of our pollies on both sides of the fence...who would of thought!
  25. I'm not sure what you are meaning here, but my take was that you couldn't syphon off major sports to a pay service. Streaming is a pay service...I have a feeling that people who can't afford even Kayo are going to be further shafted by this deal. ...no one is looking after the man on the street.
