  1. The AFLW season and premiership was the highlight for me in 2022. The way they played and the spirit they played with I found really engaging.
  2. No...I wouldn't think so. Smith was a gun, his coaching deeds overshadow those as a player but he could play.

Shoulder surgery and delayed return to full training is a lot different to cleaning up a thumb issue and straight back into full training.

I don't get Richmond...they've picked up 2 good to very good (not great) mids. They replace Edwards and Lambert who to date have been better. Prestia is a big injury.. Lynch is struggling with injury. Grimes another injury concern. Cotchin is done and Reiwoldt not far behind. Martin is the mystery...will he or won't he.
  5. Yep, they are the ones. Depends a lot on how Bevo measures up in 2023... The list is more balanced across the ground if they chose it to be that way. That first game is going to be a good one.

I don't know 'old dee', it seems to me that one team has the ball...they run down the court & score then the other team gets it and does the same. Occasional one team stuffs it up and the team that stuffs up the least wins. Not too exciting at all really.

You are a funny man 'Nev'... ...but seriously, I guess it's still a waiting game for us. "Been a long time" to quote Led Zeppelin. Thanks for taking the time to contact the club and to fill us in on your reply 'old dee'... Much appreciated.

Now, this is a game I find particularly boring...too much scoring & so predictable. Each to their own I guess.
  9. He did the Tomahawk a few times at Casey this year, a work in progress...

I don't agree with the knock on the game itself...low scoring keeps it interesting to the end. The Cat's GF was over in the first 10 minutes. Geelong and Sydney supporters didn't go on a rampage for the rest of the game. It's a cultural problem worldwide for sure...it's been a problem here with soccer and I only hope it doesn't take hold in our sport. Think of the Buddy celebration at the SCG, what other sport and country (maybe NZ) could that type of celebration occur? If soccer are serious about cracking down they need to start suspending clubs or at the very least take match points away.

It hasn't been rushed that's for sure... I would estimate something like 50 years and counting. So those who are impatient, me included have every right to be.

You're spot on 'Jimmy'... We will never know what it's cost us over the years but a fair chance other premierships have gone begging. Bringing in trades and keeping players has been held up by the strength of personalities in the club like Max, Goody, Mick Stinear and Daisy... but that can only hold up so long. ...and with as you rightly say opposition clubs widening the gap, once this window is closed we are really going to struggle and in fact we may struggle to take full advantage of this window.

    ..but it's not.
  14. I think it could be Kye Turner. Nice leap on him if it is...
  15. The vote getting Brownlow look...
  16. For one, I don't think Jackson is a unique talent. I think he is definitely a great talent. One very similar player just retired is Paddy Ryder. However, Paddy is a better mark...good set of hands whereas Jackson is a bit hit and miss. EFC tried to make Paddy into a KPF and it never worked. Port tried sometimes and it didn't work. St Kilda played him in his right position as a ruck and even though at the end of his career as one of my Saint supporter mates says, he was their best player. Ryder was shorter than Jackson and towelled him up this year. All that said, I think Jacksons talent is best suited to some kind of follower role...either as a ruck or tall mid. He hits the ground and recovers quickly, he has great vision and breaks team-mates into open space. I don't see him as a KPF but I do hope they persist with him there as he will still be an asset for us if they do...
  17. The 2 best ruckmen of the last decade...
  18. What's this "of" word you're using here?
  19. Paddy Ryder was 196cm. Amazing to think he was still a more than competitive ruckman in this era.
  20. Interesting...was just talking about this to my partner on the weekend. Things have changed a bit since the days of Alf Garnett (at least on TV), you like her might be a bit young to remember it. Just watched a clip on Youtube to see if I had it right and it was every bit as cringeworthy as I thought it would be. I went to a funeral over the COVID period and an acquaintance was talking to a friend of his in Garnett type tones. The friend was of Indian heritage...I was embarrassed for him, well them both actually. I remember this stuff from the 70's, it was pretty much par for the course. I don't think there is any place for it today, even in so called jest.

Never heard of it... ...and if he has, who cares now.

I think she has earned it...

Look 'Nev' you are probably right...and as you said before lets wait and see what happens when we get a location. ...but the delay may mean a lot of funds have dried up. We have had how long now to sort out a location? probably since we could no longer train at the 'G' and that's a long time.
  24. rjay replied to Romey's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
This one's not a conspiracy 'Nev'... ...I just fail to understand how a club that pioneered football, then pioneered women's football in the AFL is not getting anything (well a pittance) where a club who didn't want anything to do with womens football now gets funding to upgrade facilities and their pitch was based on the women's game.

Box Hill just got a $6mill upgrade for a VFL ground that doesn't need an upgrade...go figure. For whatever reason we don't seem to be selling the right story.
