  1. Of course we can upgrade Casey if that's the path we are taking. My original point was that your comment that we won a flag with the facility we had doesn't hold water. That was 2 years ago, I know we have had some upgrades since that but we are behind the competition. We should win a flag this year, it won't mean our facilities are at a level they should be, it just means we have a better list.
  2. I think we will unfortunately. edit: I just hope the losses are evenly distributed amongst the top tier. I would hate us to lose players but Brisbane lose none, they really don't have another team chipping away at them and we have a few. Adelaide I think should come back to earth a bit.
  3. You're not getting the point... I have not said anything about us needing to be near the MCG. ...but our current facilities need to be upgraded, we are falling behind the arms race. As we did when we were at the MCG and didn't read the room.
  4. We also won multiple premierships when based at the MCG in the 50's and 60's. It's not a valid argument, things move on and more quickly than ever these days. On the home base issue there doesn't appear to be a lot of movement.
  5. Particularly Hawthorn.... They didn't want anything to do with AFLW until way too late in the day.
  6. There is some rubbish in here about the match committee and Goody... Seriously we didn't have the depth last year to make the changes required to get the season on track. The Casey premiership gave many the delusion of depth.
  7. Probably a mix of all things...also adding the injury component to fitness which is one you never mention unless your name is Chris Scott. I'm sure they know exactly what went wrong and are working to fix it but I guess we will truly know that answer by the end of the season, not before it starts.
  8. He will be well aware of where he stands...
  9. He had a good 2nd half to the season, a year older, much fitter and stronger. When he gets a chance I think he will perform his role well. I think the only reasons he is unlikely to play round 1 are Brown and Tmac, who are both training well. Tommy's form pre injury was average at best last year so maybe something will open up. Brown may be rested at times through the season. I think the forward line will be invigorated this year not by a saviour but by a number of factors, JVR being one.
  10. Some of the more enlightened think they will have a down year and bounce back into contention in 2024...dreamers. To me it looks like they are in for an extended period in the bottom part of the ladder.
  11. There only a few real Hawthorn supporters and I think I know them all personally and can count them on one maybe two hands. The rest are all on the bandwagon, not real, not passionate, just a bunch of DH's.
  12. I hope he's aiming for every game...not that he will get them but you've got to aim high.
  13. I think you are on the money here... A few years back we were at the top end for accuracy. The game plan then was to bring the ball into an area that was easy to kick goals from. Pretty much in front and not too far out.
  14. They're certainly better than they showed last year...how far they rebound I guess is the question. Kennedy is a big loss and they have a few other ageing stars nearer to the end. Going to be an interesting watch.
  15. We're lucky to have Ben...champion player even better bloke.
  16. After all the good will with Alfie the other day then this...
  17. I was thinking a 3rd rounder for Henry...more like it
  18. Was thinking the same 'Dee'...you need these guys around the club.
  19. Just thinking out loud. Wouldn't it be great if this thread was closed down until Kozzy signs on with us. Don't think I could stand another Jacko thread.
  20. Sounds about right... ...and good for him if he can add a few years to his AFL career. Good for us, we get a quality person around the club.
  21. Who is running the show at the AFL since Scott moved on? Seems to be a rudderless ship.
