  1. He was told he needed to improve his outside game, at least he listens. Can't see it myself but we all know Terry's record at selecting players.
  2. Would be pretty close to right, he was getting a lot of ball at tac cup level. A bit quieter at the champs as he was coming off broken hand.
  3. Not now, we really need some x-factor and a bit of leg speed in the middle. This is why so many posters are pushing for Freeman, Lennon is another who could give us something a bit different.
  4. At least we won't get..."I didn't see the coming".
  5. The point was not about taking the game on 'bb', just an observation that his weakness given by the mock draft guy is similar to these 2 guys. Haven't really taken a lot of notice of him in the games I've seen so can't make a critical evaluation plus or minus. I don't think many, if any of us have had a good look at him but the prevailing wisdom is that he's the one. His write up looks good and if we pick him up I'm sure Roos and co will have good reason to. I'm pretty comfortable we will pick up a good player at 9, probably be out of Freeman, Lennon and Bontempelli.
  6. Thanks 'Pennant', that collar bone has caused some issue's for those of us that like to keep a bit of an eye on who's who in the draft but I'm sure the club's will have him well pegged by now. Funny how WC are saying they need more pace around the mids but Sheed is seen as their no.1 target. Maybe he is, maybe he's not.
  7. I would have taken Grundy if I was them but time will tell, Grundy v Vlastuin.
  8. A bit like the coach.
  9. I will trust Roos and our recruiters on this pick, he looks the goods but can he improve on this part of his game or will he do a Silvia/Moloney.
  10. I don't think Cripps will get through to 40 but would be a very good get.
  11. Not sure it's that deep but the first 10 or so mids seem pretty even.
  12. I'm not sure where they rate Nick Holman at the moment but he is a good one to have a look at. I like the sound of the WA boy that 'Pennant' has written up as well. We could pick up a good player here.
  13. I'm not so sure that Crouch will be on our radar now we have Tyson, Michie and Vince added to Viney. He is the best in and under clearance player in the draft but we might now be looking for a player with a more rounded game. I like his attack on the footy though.
  14. No, homesickness is only an excuse. I don't think it is an issue as such and I think once things settle a bit more with the new clubs it will be used a lot less. I'm not convinced the Eagles will go for Sheed unless they get the later first round pick and that's why they are looking at trading out 6 for 2 later picks. They couldn't justify Sheed at 6. I might be way off the mark but lets watch what happens over the next month.
  15. I think you are on the money here, I've posted before that clubs could cut costs by getting rid of their recruiting departments and just using Emma's picks. In reality she has her sources and they give her a good feel for what the draft order will be, I doubt she is flying all over the country to asses the latest draft hopefuls. But the media like to spin their people, a bit like our friend J Z no idea Clark the draft expert lol. The HS need to have their man to compete with Emma.
  16. Funny thing is the Eagles need to add pace to their mids but are said to be looking at Sheed, I'm not convinced by that either. I think his biggest problem in close is that he doesn't have clean hands and that's maybe because he doesn't see the ball well enough. He likes to have some space to see the ball coming at him and at AFL level he won't have the luxury. If you watch our new boy Tyson he sees the ball well, has clean hands, creates time and makes good decisions.
  17. Not convinced about Sheed's inside ability.
  18. Didn't have the talent that many think but he's not at the MFC anymore so he's not our problem. My last Col post...well for this year anyway.
  19. I think Vince is a much better footballer than Silvia and I've never believed he (Silvia) to be a huge talent. It was the things he lacked that held him back not laziness. Silvia will play a role at Freo but will not be a star.
  20. Will probably still be there at pick 19, I doubt he's one of the players Mahoney's talking about.
  21. They were too good for Vic country but you have to look at more than the stat sheet. My guess is you've only seen that game as well. I'm sure the recruiters would have seen a lot of Sheed and we will have to rely on their knowledge. 'Pennant' maybe able to give us a more balanced view as he keeps a good eye on the local players in Perth.
  22. Well balanced with time, good in close, uses the ball well and opens the game out for his teammates. The same things I noticed on the highlights reel from GWS. I get the Pendles comparison.
  23. I'm not sure about Jimmy's longer kicking. We haven't seen enough of it yet...pretty much every kick this year was a short 20 to 40 mtr pass. It might be a legacy of his hip ops but I would like to see more of his kicking game before I rate him as a distributor off half back.
  24. How many games has Younger played? I'm not sold on him at all.
  25. Can't agree with you on the Black comparison. Sheed gets a lot of his ball on the outside although built like an inside mid, he isn't a natural reader of the ball off the ruck and is not sure with his hands in close. All things that Black did well, the only similarity to me is that he is a left footer. Now I'm judging this off watching one game against Vic Country where he was BOG. In the same game although he didn't have the same impact I think Crouch showed he is a natural in close, reads the ruck well and never gets beaten for a contested ball. I think there will be better picks available than Sheed, just an opinion and not one based on watching a lot of game time but based on observation of how he went about it.
