Training - Friday 14th March, 2014
rjay replied to Rod Grinter Riot Squad's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sometimes it is not a planned change but the body making it's own adjustments to protect the foot, but in the end we are all guessing a bit here from very little information. -
It's exactly what the 2nd part of the comments are saying. He is doing soft tissue injuries because of a change in running style due to the previous foot injury. It may or may not be true but does have a basis in logic.

Lol... Interested in how Salem and Hunt are going 'Jack'. -

That's ok, but they don't seem to have a good handle on what loads he can take so now they are giving him time out. Maybe the time out is more a mental thing, he must be a very frustrated footballer at the moment. I wonder how much if any harm was done by his early return last year, even though it is not a foot issue now. He must have put a fair strain on his body compensating for the foot (which was still a problem then) getting through pre season to play and then drop out again. -

Yeah I do, I'm not sure it's good if he can't get the loads into his body to even run the tan without getting injured. I hope this can work if that's what it's meant to do. He must be totally gutted, no matter how much you are being paid you like to feel you are making a contribution and moving forward. Thank god he has the photography to at least give him some respite. He must have a lot of self doubt at the moment. -

It's not about razor blades, it's just not looking good at the moment. Maybe the break will do him good but it is an about turn from the club who have consistently said he needs to gradually increase his loads because he has had too much time away from the game to now taking all the loads off and giving him a break. -

If he's been given leave by the club then it's not looking good that he will play at all 'Jack'. -
For what it's worth I don't think Ling, Black or Hayes will be in the race. They need time coaching, if Ling was serious he would be coaching now instead of just dipping his toe in the water. As for Stevie J, he's said to have a pretty good footy brain but maybe he is a bit like another gifted half forward Micky McGuane who also had a good footy brain but was not able to use it as a coach at AFL level for whatever reason. I think we have Roos for at least 3 years, maybe more.

Me too, I think it's the only way to quote PJ.."We would want to understand who's in that role towards the end of this football season, absolutely," Can't see us poaching or interviewing applicants mid season to meet that time frame.
-
Yep, and at the moment it's Michie's spot to lose. No one is a lock for the entire season.
-
Had a great idea when I started wasting my time watching to see what info Barrett had on Essendon....none. I recorded it and ff until I found the Barrett spot so cut 2 hours of rubbish down to about 5 or so mins and even that was a waste of good time.
-
I would think it will be determined on the form and fitness of Michie.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
rjay replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hird takes off overseas when things are getting interesting. Now that's interesting. -
I'm not sure it was a knock to the back, he said he had the back coming into the Geelong game. It could well be a stress related injury or as you say a knock to the back but there was nothing definitive said.

Thanks for explaining that, if what you're saying is correct then it makes a bit more sense that they haven't interviewed him. -

Exclusive report by Danny Weidler. Dank complains his disclosure notice was leaked. By whom to whom? 2/3 Only Dank and ASADA knew about the notice, so who leaked??? ...I wonder -
I sure hope he doesn't do a Sheedy.

They will be very appealing to us, if we're in that position this year we take them. If we lose Frawley and I'm not convinced we will it will mean apart from Hogan we have no top class KPP's

But if that is what they were looking for (why else would you use the program if it wasn't) then the effects would start to show in the following year. For most of 2013 they looked pretty good. -
Thanks Dermott.

Agree with you, if they can play they can play. This inside/outside label just muddies the waters.
-
Too smart by half 'Andrew', but don't get me started on this again.

I agree in part 'Bob' and do feel sorry for the players, particularly the younger ones who would be more open to influence than the older established players who should have known better. ...but there is also the matter of competitive advantage that players may have had from taking illegal supplements (not saying they did but if they did) and that cannot be allowed. It is not just the penalty for being found guilty but also time out of the game to diminish the effect of any advantage they may have had. Say the program shortened their physical development time by a year or 2, what should happen then? At least one club questioned what was going on and the physical changes in Essendons players. Lets not get into an argument of what works and what didn't or doesn't because we don't know, and the club say they don't know what was taken. There is no doubt in my mind that the club still has a lot to answer for but unfortunately for the players it doesn't let them off. -
Lets not go through this again...
