  1. To me you have good footballers, inside and out has nothing to do with it.
  2. Not going to make a difference.
  3. Good argument 'Machsy', but you are gilding the Lilly a bit with Tyson who was injured for the greater period of those 2 seasons.
  4. The Tyson trade is a bit different and I'm sure Roos had some input there, he said he wanted a bit of experience, someone ready to go with pick 2 and I'm sure he would have been in on the interviews and video and Viney would have had a lot of input knowing Tyson from Oakleigh. As for Salem and Kelly, that call would be more the recruiters call. I think 'Dan' is pretty close to the mark on the process.
  5. It's ok 'Dan' you'll get it sorted. Viney will be ok, just needs a good run at it but Wines is really off to a flyer. The kid can play.
  6. I agree with you on Wines first season, but don't on Viney needing time in the gym. He really wouldn't want to put on any more size but does need to get some consistent game time. Having a better team around him like Wines has will help.
  7. RIP Dean, very sad news. Never met him personally but a good mate that knew him socially told me he was a really good bloke. Sure seemed that way from the outside looking in.
  8. We haven't heard that Rawlings even wants to be a senior coach. I'd say all it tells us is the Rawlings is senior assistant this year, I wouldn't write anything else into it just yet.
  9. You may well be right.
  10. Be interested to know why he dropped back to pick 4 and GWS lost interest.
  11. No one has a clue who, if anyone is in the box seat 'D26'.
  12. Not very smart is Matthew. Starting to get a bit like the wrestling now if they expect you to believe this BS Robbo is their biggest cheerleader.
  13. I'm a bit with you here. I don't know where the story about Wines, Neeld and Viney comes from, I guess because young Viney and Wines were mates but what isn't said is that Jack also played a bit of footy with Toumpas in SA and he rated him very highly. I don't understand how Neeld could take Wines over Toumpas as I doubt he would have seen either of them play much footy. It would have more likely been a decision made by Viney and Harrington. I could see Neeld directing that we needed better kicking skills and that would be understandable to all on here. The knock on Wines was his disposal.
  14. ...because no one would take him, they are in a situation they are not comfortable with. A prodigious talent but....only a matter of time.
  15. His placement of kicks both feet is also superb. Shows that you don't have to be the quickest player going around, he would be close to the quickest thinker though. He see's everything in slow motion, this is a big plus Tyson has going for him.
  16. We don't need depth in the ruck we need class. Forget Hannath, better to go after Clarke or Griffin.
  17. Bennel played most of his early football under Bailey as a half back.
  18. ...and they would love to off load him.
  19. I hope he was not is given they're last years stats and the new coach may adjust his role.
  20. Just take an interest in it 'bob', given our ladder position it's something I like to keep an eye on. I also have a few contacts with parents of kids who have come through the system. I think part of the reason we traded pick 2 (Tyson was a good get) was that we rated Salem at least as highly or close to Kelly and thought we could pick him up around where we did. Kelly appears to be a Scully type runner with better skills so he will be a good player. Looking at the development thread you started earlier (good topic) it seems the club are taking it easy with Salem and not placing big expectations on him early. It will be good to watch his development at Casey, I will be surprised if he is not pushing for senior selection at some stage this year. Hunt is the really interesting one, came out of nowhere. Big wraps from Finey and Robert Shaw, and also getting a lot of positive feedback from some of the senior players. Watching him at training early in the year he didn't seem out of place, just a few adjustments needed on when and were to position himself. He does move well and is very quick.
  21. Jaksch is not up to it from what I've seen, might eventually settle as a defender but not convinced. If Clark is up and running he will be the 3rd tall forward/ruck option or first ruck option. Dawes is looking more like the Shane Watson option to me.
  22. Tyson has more upside than Kelly and much more than Dunstan who will be a good but never a great player. Some rated Salem ahead of Kelly but it's yet to be seen. I think we've done more than ok here. I would take Tyson and Salem ahead of Kelly and Dunstan any day and we did which I'm happy about.
  23. If we do, we need to keep them for ourselves. We're not strong in the forward department at the moment. I like the look of McCartin, with Hogan it would be like having Carey and Plugger in the same forward line. A lot of defenders wouldn't be comfortable with these 2 running around.
  24. I think you are just agreeing with 'Hannibal' as I do, he has not made the transition yet. I'm not saying he won't (it is no guarantee that he will either) but at the moment he needs time. He is a fair way off the pace at the moment.
  25. Very constructive 'master'.
