  1. Someone else got weeks for a sling tackle...now who was it????
  2. Geelong had Mumford lined up to take over there as well but it didn't stop Roos from grabbing him.
  3. It really depends on what he costs as far as a trade goes and what the contract terms are with him. We can't afford to pay overs on one player, as we know our list is poor and in my mind we would be better off doing another Tyson like deal if we can, 2 for one. We need to get more class onto the list. I'm also not sure of his long term viability as a player, he gets knocked around a lot, turns 25 at the start of next season. How many good years will he have in the tank??? The final point for me is I've seen this all before with Diamond Jim, Templeton, Big Carl, Moore...I believe you can learn a lot from history. Now, on the other side of this I think Roos and his crew would be right across the pluses and minuses and if they go after him they will have good reason. I like the fact that Roos is right across how things work in the US and our game is mirroring that more and more.
  4. I agree 'Machsy', if we want him it is now or never. I'm not convinced he is the right fit for us though.
  5. It's not just the financial cost though 'Lamashtu', it's the cost of the trade. Roos would be right on top of this as you say.
  6. Winning games does this 'McQueen'...you can see how quickly the masses didn't show up to Collingwood games at the end of the season and you can guarantee Adelaide oval would start to empty if Port weren't winning. All the match day experiences and high profile presidents in the world won't draw an extra person if you aren't winning games of footy.
  7. We might not be that interested at the price.
  8. He doesn't really give them the 2nd ruck option of being able to play forward, he is a number one man. I would think they are a big chance with Ryder anyway.
  9. It's pretty tough 'Earl' when a club you used to support has been taken over. As a Box Hill boy who spent a number of years following the "Mustangs" and heading down to City oval to watch the footy I just can't bring myself to support them anymore. Good on the Doggies for winning but unfortunately it's not a real competition anymore. We've had our part in this in the past but the Hawks made a total mockery of the game the last couple of weeks. It would have been a true comp if Willy had of made it, instead they were done over by the Mark Evans Hawks...
  10. Colin Carter, from memory he was on the commission for a while. He's in the background but a very good operator. Not sure if you mentioned Garry Lyon, but the further away he stays from the club the better. Better as a supporter, not as a decision maker.
  11. I'm sure 'Picket' will be on to this soon.
  12. I think that's a given 'Jack'. If we look at it we can see a team in the GF this week who had a player allowed to play, against the rules in the VFL last week to keep him match fit. Of course the Hawks made a mockery of the competition this week by not letting him play when he was eligible in the VFL GF to keep him fit for next weeks AFL GF if he is needed. They had another sitting on the bench and wouldn't let him on the ground in the last Q when they had no other rotations and his team needed him. Not only this but last week they allowed another Hawk to take the place of a kid trying to make his way in the game. This game was set up for all the kids who were playing in the 2nd tier and lower comps to show what they could do, to give them a chance. But no it was more important for a Hawk senior player on great cash to get a run as a lead into the prelim and now GF. Who did Mark Evans work with before the AFL. Mark Evans the man who is doing the impossible...making Adrian Anderson look good. The Chairman of the totally transparent organisation of integrity has a financial interest in a sub standard stadium where we are forced to watch finals let alone regular fixtures. Corruption Park in Western Sydney is the worst ground in the competition and brings the game into disrepute. What's the CEO doing? don't know really. I've heard something about match day experiences, I thought the footy was good as a match day experience but since my team has not been able to perform and can't win a game I'm not sure singing an INXS song or having lions running around the park is going to make my match day experience any better. Come on Gill the dill get out there and in the words of John Kennedy "do something"..."do something". You don't really have to ask Eddie.
  13. Mitch is a good VFL player, we had a couple of those last year in Magner and Couch. I wouldn't necessarily back him on his VFL form. What does he bring to the AFL table?
  14. ...no, I haven't missed your point at all. In fact if you read the post you have quoted I agree with you. I think the club will work to get the best value they can for Clark but it may not be with Collingwood. The point I was making is I'm really angry (the emotional component that is not just about Clark going to another club) at Clark for hijacking depression to help him get what he wants. I think this is poor form and hurts others who have problems with the illness.
  15. Well, sorry mate but it does matter to those who are suffering.
  16. I really find this hard to believe. I know that's what they say but I really find it impossible to believe that not one player mentioned anything to someone at the players association or to a player manager. I think there are some on the outside who knew more and did nothing.
  17. Good get 'Pirlo'. I would be very surprised if he's not on our radar.
  18. I think so too 'Jack', a Hogan, McCartin forward line would strike fear into defenders in years to come. They both have a take no prisoners attitude to the game.
  19. There is a lot of emotion about this 'Jack' and I appreciate that wiser heads at the club will do what's best. The issue I really have is Clark using depression as a tool to get what he wants. His actions are making a mockery of others that are suffering.
  20. Thought the umpires were poor in the Hawthorn Port game. The Friday night crew much better.
  21. Absolutely he is but the point is he got traded for pick 46 not pick 2 and I did say at best, he's miles from that level.
  22. You might have to think the teams that finished higher on the ladder were better, now that's a novel idea.
  23. No way, Hrovat is a good hard worker & a handy player but nowhere near a pick 2 even with pick 5 coming back. At his best he will be a McGlynn type and he was traded for pick 46 & 70 tied up in the Kennedy deal. Surely we can do much better than this.
  24. I agree with this 'Pennant', I really think he has used depression as an out. If he really has depression then he has set himself up for a big fall and has been very badly advised.
  25. All I can say...is how good is Robbie Grey???
