Brad Green speaks on losing leadership role
Demonsterative replied to TonyMelb's topic in Melbourne Demons
Let's get real here. This idea of being tough is the right pathway for the club. The players need to toughen up. But the coach has to be more complex in his approach, the idea of just being tough, and ppl on here standing behind that and that only is strange to me. How about being 'tough but fair'. A new leadership group means a new order at the club. Good on Neeld for bring bold and taking this path. Good on Brad for going down the path of 'I'll still lead in an informal way and help the Ld group out', but I few comments by Brad says to me that the coach is unnapproachable and hard to communicate with. Recognition for his efforts, an explanation why (other than a youth policy), a thankyou, anything. It may have happened but does not seem Brad will not be knocking on Neelds door or expect to be invited to Neelds office to have another 5 minutes to talk further. It's Worrying IMO. Malthouse, Matthews, Clarkson, Williams are all uncompromising in their times as coach. We re they unapproachable? I question if Neeld is approachable after reading Greens articles. But then again I don't know the full story and hope I'm wrong -

No. But nice try in putting words into my mouth Hmmm. Some people -
Bailey was trying for germ warfare that day. It didn't work. Get over the deconstruction of Beamer. If he was 22 you would all love him and see no fault. Jones was a whipping boy and now that has changed as Neeld will turn him into the next Swan. Unbelievable

I don't think Brad knows what his role is at the club. He'll continue to lead informally, if that's ok but I don't think he expects to be told if that is ok either. I thought stucture, defined roles was the order of the FD. I would assume that goes beyond 120 minutes on the weekend I hope the players learn to play for the coach and he can communicate before, during and after a match. -

Somewhat insensitive by the coach and amateurish. -
Your right jnr, it's says you (I) know jack ****. As with everyone. As it should

I like it! It says, were confident in our program and facilities (as previously said)! You have no idea of what we are doing! Maybe we are doing things differently! Wait and see! Our list will start to develop, and I will coach accordingly! This year you will see, but it may change! Neeld is definitely learning the media craft nicely. Well done

6 yrs hard labour, for bad behaviour!!

The fact is no one knows what the outcome of a MFC, CFC grannie would have been. Was a great trip down memory lane til the wet blanket killed it.

Good post Master. Intelligent and well balanced points. Good read

Geez, that Judd guy isn't very good. He must be part of a poor midfield.
-
And he never polled a vote in the Alan Border Medal.
-
I'd take Martin for Beamer. yes it's a pipe dream, but they have no one else I would want. That includes Cotchin and Deledio
-
Terms like 'flat track bully', 'ordinary' etc don't help when explaining a man who does bleed red and blue, gives it his all etc. The guy had his best year playing a lone hand against some elite midfields. He played better against the weaker teams. That's how it goes. We have a weak midfield. We got thrashed multiple times and midfields lifted against us, coz we are terrible. The accolades last year speak for themselves. Beamer is the least of our worries. Credit where and when it's due. Why do most talk up Grimes, Trengove or Watts and then some talk down Beamer. he just isn't as talented. Give me performance over talent
-
If Beamers leadership or lack of, is about changing a premiership drought or avoiding another 186, what does that say about one of our greats, Robbie Flower? His leadership took him to one finals campaign and multiple thrashing. His stats only prove that he is the barometer of our midfield. Beamer is my favorite player, but this needs to change. I'd be interested in his midfield mates stats too. I'm not sure if he is intelligent or not, but I'm surer than sure who I respect.
-
I think its also about having a midfield that is ready to play. Too many players who maybe good midfielders and not enuff guys to support Beamer. Nat Jones was recruited as a flanker and hasnt yet made it in the middle. Sylvia, as i said above. I cant think of anyone else. Hopefully, as you said, Neeld can build a midfield team
-
I would like to see Beamer in a midfield that had players around him that were not so reliant on him to be the only midfielder capable of playing in the middle. As a Cat he was an untouchable stated by the coach. Only the need for a forward in Ottens shifted this. Beamer is un fairly treated for being the only midfielder. Flat track bully? No. He just cant do it alone, or with babies not ready to assist consistently. Sylvia is a mental baby and not a midfielder worthy of playing %100 of the time.

The current coach has a definate strategy. Its all good now, lets hope its successful. I see the recruitment this year as a strategy to enhance the existing group. But i feel Magner and Williams will be good choices. Magner as a good meat a potatoe type, competative, and Williams as a goal kicker. In lower leagues, but a goal kicker all the same. He was also injured as a TAC player. Maybe, hopefully he could not show his talents as a junior.

All wins contribute to a good (winning) culture. GC, Bris, filth or Hawks. If we have good loses to the later two its still good for the club. It says we can compete. The coaches and players need faith we are moving forward with a new game, coaches and culture. I love the NAB cup. Better than training reports. I love the reports too. But footy is better!!

KC, Thanx for your updates, always enjoy them. Can you provide your thoughts (u may already have - if so sorry) on the lack of off season action at Casey? With Lovett being appointed as part time coach and from the outside their seems to be a MFC take over, or is this a case of Casey not having the funds to compete with the VFL big boys. Also, it has been explained before, what is the ratio of AFL players being able to play for affiliated clubs, such as Casey and the MFC in each game and in finals. Are you concened for your club with the loss of players and lack of recruitment Cheers

Try ignoring each other. For two ppl who do not respect each other, ur replies show too much respect

WYL he is our best midfielder. Unless i read your post wrong. He is still very important to our team. Regardless of being a recognised leader or not.
