  1. Yep, there seems to be alot of talk going on at the B&F night. Why werent the HS and the Age there reporting on all these 'leaks/discussion?
  2. This seems to be a win/win for both clubs. The Pies need a replacement for Brown and Martin can play that role. The Dees need more midfield class and could take advantage of a situation in which the Pies need to offload a player or two due to Salary Cap issues (Cloke). The Dees have the money to take hopefully, 2 good mid fielders from the Pies. As a poster who has connections to the club said the Dees are looking for up to 3 experienced midfielders to add to the mix. This could be the window the club is lkg for. As I said, a win/win situation
  3. If i compare Brynes to Moloney I would take Shannon. Similar age, Similar experience (games wise, Brynes with around 50 odd games less), Both had to fight for a position thru the lower ranked draftees. Both good attacking qualities. BUT, Brynes kicks more goals, has more turn of speed, cost less than Beamer. Brynes has less off field drama's and Shannon has more defensive qualities. Yes they play in different positions, but if the club loses a player in and around an age group that is detriment to our list, experience and leadership qualities, then Shannon gives more stability than Beamer. A 2 time premiership player in a team of a generation trumps a midfielder who often goes missing and isnt getting a game in the worst team in a genaration A good get if it comes to fruition.
  4. Yep - a world that only has fluffy, happy shiny ppl would be just the tonic for MFC success. if this were the case, Bailey would still be coaching and getting a 3 yr extension. Nice Utopia
  5. I like the development of Fitzy, especially since his diagnosis. If his diabetes is managed well he may flourish more. Also I read somewhere he was touted a top draft pick in his year before he was struck down with CFS, which turns out to be diabetes. Good Upside to Fitz. I like Gumby too. Imagine 3 forwards around 198 to 200 cms. All mobile targets who can kick goals and play the ball on the ground. A very hard match up for oppositions. Add Howe and two genuine fast small forwards
  6. Neeld had the opportunity to let Bate go to the dogs for a good draft pick, but chose to keep him. I dont buy into the idea that Neeld had little idea of the playing list. He came into the club eyes wide open and according some one on this site he regrets his choice not cull last year. He thought he could develop Bate into a midfielder and couldnt and didnt. A bad decision from Neeld here. Whats to say he will get it right. Not all his decisions will be right but he needs to get alot of decisions right for this club to turn around I support Neeld but remain a sceptic until tangible results are provided. The opposite has occurred and Im a little worried about the clubs direction.
  7. Im not sure how you can guarentee what you say. Having said this I hope you are right! Not sure if the decision on Cook is a little early and Gys provides very good bargaining power come trade month IMO.
  8. Cook, Gysberts, Morton, Bate, Bennell, Davey have not left the club yet. Cook and Gsy were mentioned in the Hun but except for rumor are still at the club. Keep promoting the "I love Neeld" crap when he has yet to do anything except wet your appetite with anticipation. I hope he makes calculated decisions that move the club forward. We cant go anymore backwards!
  9. Correct me if i'm wrong, Its only 4 weeks til the start of the footy season. Trade, Free Agency and the draft. Exciting times ahead. I particulary looking forward to the training reports too.
  10. Ling was able to work off his man, create space for himself and be damaging in offense. Ling was a once in a generation player. Nullifying his opponent and be damaging going forward. At this stage McKenzie is a tagger. If he can develop an offensive game he will become dangerous. At this stage he does not offer a skill the opposition need to worry about other than nulifying one of there own
  11. Mental Note. Never cough on the ground, court etc. Gives the opposition too much confidence and a mental advantage
  12. Going out to do the best for your team is not selfish. It may be mis guided considering you are sick but selfish it is not.
  13. Sick days cost this country 30 Billion a year.
  14. I refuse to argue with you WYL for many reasons. You will always reply (over 1500 post is testiment of this). Your answers/replies never add up or your views change according to each post. What did Neeld (or another coach) say about weekly journos? Your the one post D'land member. Your a nice guy, but no offense. I wish i heard from you alot less and you formed an opinion on something and stuck with. Rather than have the need to post every where and on anything. Cheers
  15. I regards to Beamer playing the Cats sick, i'd rather someone who has the dedication to turn up to work whilst sick rather than have the soft c***s who take a day off for a broken finger nail. Yes he did not get a possession, but he demonstated dedication. Its a stupid argument to blame Beamer who was VC who went on the ground with the view to play good football. The fact he didnt is now a moot point. 22 players played that day and they dont have an excuse for their form. Thing about mangers/coaches, is that they are their to manage people. If Beamer turned up to my work as sick as he was, id put him on light duties. In laymens terms, He would sit in the coaches box and lead the players at 1/4, 1/2 etc time trying to motivate the players.
  16. Just not sure why the club promoted the need for the clubs elite (rich) needing to pay 100% of the cap. I say 10000 more supportes may get us 5 extra players and the only way to get this is to win games, play in front of crowds that dont resemble an empty stadium, and have a rock solid FD and Admin dept. And a club that says, we are going places. Remind me why ppl want to play for Collingwood, Essendon, Carlton, St Kilda andRichmond (and they have been a rabble for 30 yrs). I remember a year in the naughties when the club was playing attractive football and were finals contenders and the Dees had the 3rd highest attendance at games out of the Victorian clubs. I dont think it would be too hard to get those numbers again. Right now we are dependant on fundraising.
  17. GEE WYL, Your quite the jet setter. You've been in Asia for some months now. Yet you still spend alot of time on DL. Kudos for thinking of home whilst on holidays
  18. McLardy promoting the dinner to assist the club to land a big fish is embarrasing. That is why the club gets poor media attention and makes us look like a charity case. Time for the club to show the world that the club means business and competes with other clubs on an even level.. Act like a poor man, you behave like a poor man. If every club fundraises, why do we behave like a charity case asking for money to get 1 or 2 players thru free agency or trades. Mitch Clarke was a big fish we landed without us being made to look a charity case, why not promote the need for another Mitch Clarke and not to pay 100% of the salary cap. I am personally embarred by this promotion I like the FD's changes last year and the promotion that we have 'elite' training facilities. The second part of this is the club promoting elite standards to match the facilities. I just saw the news and it had Howe teaching young kids in the City of Casey how to take a spekky. Good promotion of the club and every kid wants to take spekkys. I like that the club is creating foundations in an area that will give us future budding Demon supporters. Well done to all Foundation Members and the money you put in. But what is more important is raising our membership base. Much more money is raised when you get 40 to 45 thousand members. As far as i am concerned the basic membership package was a WASTE of money this year. We were promised a new era with the new coach, new FD structure, elite facilities, a new fitness manager with an elite performance output.. What we all have got was a year of massive disappoitnment and poor performance. The club did not say we need to go backwards to go forward. Neeld said he was not surprised that we performed badly after round one, yet he promised a more hardened football performance. Alot of people believe we have gone backwards to move forwards. This a belief only and no one can specifially point out what has improved. If they do others can counter argue this too easliy Sorry to say this, but the foundation members will die off soon (this generation). What happens when we have a very little supporter base and the stereotype (rich) supporter dies off. Young people do not support our club as we are weak. The promotion of this fundraiser is testiment of this. Time for the club to stop pinning themselves on the clubs elite supporters. too much emphasis on this in recent times, and in the past. Time for the club to be successful and work on the real foundation of the club. The average supporter who pays a couple of hunderd each year. Get 10 thousand more of these people paying up and the foundation dinner become an added bonus, nothing more
  19. Doesnt bode well for the predicted massive changes predicted this pre season. Still i will get excited if the changes are made. Pre season is every Demons fan season given the recent results over autumn ans winter
  20. I remember last pre season being a time of great change and hope. A new coach was being talked up as the next super coach. A high profile (the highest at the time) player defecting from the Lions and Dockers to come to the promised land. New resources being pumped into the club so that player development was assured. Fantastic facilities being better than previous premiers/grand finalist. A list of potentialled high draft picks. Previous coaches lamenting opportunities saying finals football was a given. A club profit used on front ending contracts. One of the highest sponsorship in the league And...... all i got was, do i need to re live this year. its too depresing to reflect
  21. I remember when Ratten was our midfield coach the midfield improved measurably. Its clear to me that Royal has struggled implementing an effective midfield structure this season. Its time to Go - Royal
  22. Brad had some excellent games as a linkman CHF. When Brad was able to lead up to provide an option handballing the ball off, the ball moved quickly in the forward line creating 1:1 options to Nieta and co. His biggest problem was he could not be a gorilla type and use his bulk to advantage when the ball was on top of his head. He got the most out of himself and had Hall's measure as a backman. Kudos to him.
  23. I'm not saying ditch Liam. I question the clubs ability (culture) to move through such complex issues. If Liam was a Sydney Swan, I would be more confident in Syd's culture and structures to support Liam. If the club did decide to delist Liam, I expect the club to support Liam individually and see the process thru. Without affecting the other 45 players. Jimmy was a different case. He is a club legend and provided fantastic leadership over 3 decades, as a player and administrator.
  24. Its time for the MFC to move on. The club is trying to forge its own culture and these constant issues with Liam are not helping the clubs intent of moving forward on and off the field. This is not an attack on Liam, just stating the obvious! Sometimes cultures collide and the divide is too wide to negotiate a happy medium. I agree that the heath and happiness of Liam is paramount and I hope that his actions havent hindered his chances of beating his charge (if he is innocent). On the other side of the coin, The health and happiness of the club is just as important. The club needs to do what they can to move forward from this issue. If the club chooses to keep Liam I support its choice. If they dont, I support that decision too. My thoughts keep going leaning to fairness to the collective. In this case its 45 other players and a club trying to move forward creating a strong culture. This issue is not about an early morning car crash. Its much bigger. Is the club able to continue to deal with this issue when community structures, institutions cant.
