Old, you are right its inprinted in the mind. I just think that 22 players have got away with their performance too much. The coach (who had to go) and the off field antics are played up too much. Yes ppl have to take responsibilty, but im impressed how the club has learnt from this experience with the extensive changes that have been made. The board do need to answer questions to its stakeholders, but actions have answered many questions. Time to move on IMO. 186. Never heard of it - i wish ;-)

IMO opinion good leaders recognise strengths and weaknesses in the people they lea d. They will utilise the strengths and pull ppl up when needed. Beamer does rev up the troops but can go too far at times. I see the two Jacks allowing Beamer to continue to use his motivation skill, but pull him up when he goes too far. Good thread rpfc

No need to belittle posts. Not asking you to not reply starting the post or not

Rpfc, not every post is not in relation or responce to you

If a player is down on confidence, or isnt structuring properly. The 46th player or 22nd can show leadership with a gee up or pointing a player to stand in position (structure up). Thats leadership. Ill refrain from insults sloonie

Leadership group announced; Grimes and Trengove co-captains
Demonsterative replied to Striker475's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think his best position is a small forward. I read somewhere his training program was to build strength (to break tackles) and to create forward pressure with short sharp burst, using his pace. He never had natural endurance and playing midfield was too much of a stretch for him I dont agree that the Buckley style of midfielder. Running around players getting easy handballs and getting easy kicks. He is our only small forward barring Lawrence who is yet to play a game. He will play as long as he gives 100% -
Further to the above point. The pies, reigning premiers, 2nd best team last year were beaten by 100 points a month later by the Cats. Maguire didnt speak to Maxwell prior or after, Pert and Malthouse were getting along. Their board wasnt in turmoil. It happens. Yes it was an embarassing loss and our players layed down and whimpered. They are at fault for not having the guts to stand up to one of the best teams in history. I just wanna forget it happened

Has anyone thought the Cats were a better team on the day. 186 points better

I want Beamer to be his natural self. If he goes too far its the leadership groups role to pull him into line. I want 46 leaders on the list.

I see this as a 'new era' leadership group taking the club forward. Neeld himself has said that the club will work hard to build the two Jacks leadership qualities. With the resources at hand i believe that this will happen I want to thank Green, Moloney and Rivers for their leadership (i may have forgot others). Regardless of personal opinions, they served the club to the best of their abilities and that is good enough for me. Past coaches believed in them and im sure they will continue to lead in their own right. Having said that i hope Clark shows a more mature side. If you think Green sulked and didnt lift his head in difficult times. Clark was the master in this area at the lions. Prove me wrong big fella and good luck

I agree with most of what your saying daisy. But the club has rectified these problems and is moving forward. I reserve judgement on Greg Healy, the guy has just started. This issue has been done to death
-
Daisy im not saying good men dont make mistakes, everyone does. Many organisations at some point cant find suitable candidates for positions, thats why you see adverts in the job sections re adverstising many times over stating previous applicatants need not apply. Recruitment can take many months sometimes. I know this from personal experience. It is relevant especially for specialised or professional jobs

The role of football director is an important role. I would hope the club were doing everything in its power to replace Leoncelli. Maybe there wasnt a good candidate which forced Jims and McLardy hand to step in for the time they did. Definately not a good situation but id rather wait 6 months to get someone good, than just employ anyone. From where i stand (from the outside looking in) both Jim and McLardy are good men, highly respected and intelligent. Im sure they didnt like the situation either. Its all speculation but so are alot of posts.

Particulary when the organisational structure at the time didnt allow for reporting tools that would give the board information and the ability to make an informed decision. Structures have changed now with CS and NC providing reports on there prospective depts. If CS and NC were having a rift i would expect the Board to seek information from other sources. Its good management and governance and the captain is expected to represent the players.

How about respecting spelling diversity. Some ppl can spell, others arent as good. No point sweating the small stuff -
Roost it, shouldnt you judge the board for its 3 years of service. Going on your thoughts Eddie Maguire should be sacked from the filth for making bad investments in buying pubs. Time to let it go

I have been critical of Neelds media performance (public speaking) and have seen an improvemenat since he started. Public speaking is extremely hard. I get the feeling the club has told him to stop making big statements, lighten up (as he said at the AGM) and is more considered in what he says. Kudos to Mark for making improvements. I dont want big statements like making the eight etc. As it has been said let the actions do the talking. He is obviously learning on the job On a side note, i dont believe the blank canvas comment. Neeld already had a very good idea of the list and players. Thats why he chose to coach the Dees when he had choice to coach other clubs. He saw the talent.

Reach is all about issues do with youth. Bullying, self esteem, respecting self and others, building healthy relationships etc. Communication is a tool used to work out issues.

Ay Your right diesel, who are we to judge. Beamer gets angry after a loss during a game. Rightly so as he bleeds red and blue and hates to lose. Some say he is a front track bully as he only performs against lower teams. I say he is the only good midfielder we have and cant beat top midfielders alone. He is often tagged too as he is a berometer in the midfield. Clarke is one who sooks when beaten by his direct opponent. Hopefully more responsibility will change this trait. As i said this info is from Lion supporters. Also a win is a win and shoulb be celebrated. GC or GWS -

The Moloney decision is unacceptable! IMO. The decision of Clark baffles me. According to Lion supporters he can throw tantrums on field and is anything but a leader. Maybe he was promised a leadership role as part of his massive pay packet. Very happy with Grimes and Trengove. -
Im one that usually sits in the 'get over it camp', but i do love and laugh at the stories provided by the two posters here. The $cullywag is a tool!!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
Demonsterative replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
Viney has yet to be drafted. I seriously doubt it is an option. Nice thought tho -
RR is technically right. State and Fedral laws allow people to choose their employer. I often wondered how the 'Draft' would stand up if say, a 17yo challenged the draft if they were forced to move interstate. Maybe the AFL have a loop hole that my amatuer legal knowledge (lack of knowledge really) does not understant The same analogy can be made if some one wanted to move dept's within Telstra but a draft interfered with ones right to choose, especially if they were qualified to move just like the Ball situation. Im surprised the draft hasn't been challenged especially with the player who left GWS due to home sickness (forget his name) , and ended up with WC on tbe rookie list. In this situation, if WC wanted him, laws allow him to move without going thru the stress of a draft. The Ball situation of moving is exactly the same Having said this, the personal attacks i do not agree with. I also dont agree that constant conversation between RR and WYL. No offence guys, but the constantant conversation between you two saying the same thing in a different way is painful. No offence again
