  1. Cheers 3031, very much appreciated
  2. I very much enjoy reading your posts and trust your knowledge within the club but the facts are i follow the club via the media and form an opinion. More traditional authoritarian styles of leadership can be effective, but i cant agree with the public naming of individuals. The authoritarian style does not match with the progression of laws, policies and procedures (discrimination, oh&s, bullying and harassment etc). No - no accusations of anyone or anything in this post I agree my opinion is completely subjective and in the scheme of things not very important! At all. I dont believe media performance makes a coach or is an important component to the job description. I thought Neil Daniher to be an excellent coach but his media performance was poor too
  3. In all seriousness, a premiership for starters. It would be very nice!!!
  4. I still think there a few question marks with MN media comments. I didnt agree with the public naming of some players in the media (Watts) about performance or lifestyle. Some things can be said behind closed doors, but from my training, public naming (humiliation) goes against any management or leadership manual (football clubs are no different). Im still not sure what the 'touchy feely' reference was all about? Collingwood maybe more direct in its approach, but the CFC IMO is an easy club to operate! The MFC have been kicking many goas of late (football dept excluded) and MN is reaping the benefits with the resources at his disposal. I also thought in a recent article where McCarthy, Watters and Neeld answered questions McCarthy spoke very well out performing Neeld and Watters. Before i get labelled a MN hater, i like many other aspects he has displayed and im very hopefull for the football and sports science depts (previously under performing areas)! To be able to get highly respected ppl to follow him (Mission, Craig, Lyon and the MFC) speaks volumes. Many in the industry have high opinions of Mark. The structural and cultural changes in the footy depts make me very hopefull (time will tell), i just hope he is still open, approachable and flexible where appropriate. At the end of the day i want to see on field performances. When the time comes thats when ill judge MN overall
  5. Thank you ppl's, a great read (as usual), i always look forward to these reports
  6. (Self) love is blind!
  7. At a guess, I would say that Sam hasn't the fitness to play the midfield yet and his defensive skills aren't up to scratch. I see Sam moving into the midfield when he builds his motor with more pre seasons under his belt
  8. That's it. I have a good feeling with him and Williams
  9. I forgot to add, a black eye and multiple bruises on his arms and legs!!!
  10. I would take a home and away win with McLean playing (his only AFL game for the year) on Magner and being wiped off the ground.
  11. Lol, true, And we have not beaten the Scum for a while.
  12. Better than sex? Not in my world 
  13. It worries me that clubs or the media say that players should not be out late. Every athlete needs to get away from their life/job for a period and behave like normal ppl. If they get drunk, so be it. It's what 20 somethings do. Go out and have a good time. It's Xmas and New Year FFS. He didnt do anything wrong!! Leave it be
  14. I remember going to the Cattery mtg up with some friends (demon fans) who bought seated tickets and they had to leave their seats due to threats as they sat amongst cat supporters at half time. We had drinks in a bar afterwards and witnessed a group of demon fans be beaten by cats fans and the security guards. The dee fans were not the aggressors yet the security guards still beat them. We noted the the security numbers on their shirts and made formal complaints and the GFC refused to hear us. Will never go there again!!! It was like being a Muslim in South Carolina
  15. TMc - another one I didn't think of!! With his size, pace and motor, could he be the Goodes of the team? Really I still want games into the young ones, but with good support around them
  16. I've gone down the youth path as to be a real finals/premiership threat that's where the improvement is needed Jack Watts It's an obvious choice. To be a real threat Jack needs go continue his improvement!! I hope Jack takes on a KP in the forward line and shows he can be an elite player as a CHF. I hope he starts to kick multiple goals and exhort physical pressure on his opponent. I would be happy with glimpses in this area as he is probably 2 years off being consistent as a true CHF. Sam Blease In only 5 games he showed glimpses of BIG talent. His run and carry, disposal and attacking abilty was very good. He has areas he needs to develop and he will be all the better developing at AFL level. I see Sammy as a potential AFL A grade midfielder. The club needs A grade midfielders Jack Trengove The sky is the not even the limit for Jack. The stratosphere is his limit!! Needs to become another AFL A grader to takes us up the ladder. Has a perfect balance of inside/outside play and can be a goal kicker. Our most important player for the future. Probable future captain too! Grimes Another possible AFL A grade player. I don't care where he plays, please god just let him play!!! Tappy Another with huge upside. Could be another top midfielder who becomes part of a potential AFL A grade midfield. Can play forward and back too. Special Mentions Jamie Strauss 5 to 10 games from James with the same quality he has shown previously would be very nice indeed. He looks to be a cconfidence player with very good upside Gysbert Another guy with huge upside. Classy ball magnet who is a pure midfielder. Could have been in my top 5 easily (maybe should be) Howe Another with huge upside. Showed BIG promise - too many to choose from!!! Forwards Clark and Jurrah to jump off the potential list and deliver an all round game of excitement and discipline Midfield The only player who I can think of is Beamer. Another good season for my favorite player Backs Frawley and Garland are the mainstays of the backline Leadership Green, Davey, Jamar, Beamer, and Rivers. All 5 need to show great leadership skills for a good 2012 tilt toward finals New Recruites Sellar 10 very good games in the backline on the gorillas would make me very happy Magner I like what I have seen at VFL level. Could be a good support for Beamer and prove to be a good recruit (ready to play) Williams I have s good feeling. Can't explain why?
  17. It seems as though the football dept has looked at 3 different areas that the club need beefing up on More elite trainers (couch) on the track setting the pace for others to compete against. Jones has been the benchmark in this area but it's looks as though TMac and JT have stepped up this year too. More ball getting ability and toughness in tight (couch, magner) for the others to compete against. No more reliance on Beamer in this area. And genuine height and strength up forward and back (Clark,Sellar) And I almost forgot another area, 23 to 26 year old players who can play I have no doubt the coaching staff can pick talented players, but they can't compare this talent across different leagues and competitions. That's where the recruitment dept come in and try and make informed decisions. I hope there has been a very good balance of decisions made between the coaches and recruitment depts. At the end of the day time will judge the decisions made. Fingers crossed
  18. Not sure I'm negative to either Neeld or Craig. I'm just unsure about Neil's role and Mark's media performance. I like both guys and see the benefits both guys have brought to the club. I apologize if it seems negative. But I have not made any blanket statements on either one of them. That's the problem with written material, it gets lost in translation
  19. Maybe you could try and definitively explain it to me, rather than get personal
  20. Poor Ox I love the man but he isn't the most articulate of men. Gotta love his sometimes out spoken love and passion for the club. If only more past players in the media had his guts to defend the honor of our club in the public domain. At least he is sprucking the club when appropriate
  21. I'm surprised that I haven't read more about the issue of NC Sherking the question about him not defining his role. Does anyone know what he is doing definitively? Or is his role a work in progress? I cant think of the club or anyone explaining it to the point I can understand it!
  22. I can't help but feel that Neeld had some influence with Taggart coming to the club too. He was a favorite with Bucks when he coached the under 16 Aust squad and they shared an office. Many in the industry were surprised by who we drafted and most who were drafted has the smell of the coaching staff on them. I hope they have got this right and the recruiting staff were given the space to do there jobs without being hindered too much. Coaches aren't recruiters
  23. Neelds media performances leave me feeling flat.
  24. I'm excited the club is on the front foot with the China experiment as well in other areas. This is an untapped area that could bring $$$$ to the club as well as world class sport science facilities if we choose the high altitude way to go. Gone are the days when we hesitate with issues like the Lexus center and lose out If I does not work out I'm confident the club will switch tact and move to greener pastures
