  1. Maybe a questoin to Schwabby tomorrow should go like this, "what were doing yesterday? Which company did you meet with?" Haha
  2. C'Mon guys, time to kiss and make up, agree to disagree or raise a white flag. If you cant do that, start PM ing each other. It seems its a personal issue using topics as your tools.
  3. Hopefully the GA jnr equivalent for the MFC
  4. A definate change of point of view there Lutz. Congratulations, you have formed a some what change in your view. Will you now admit that Grimes has had injury issues holding back his captain qualities. In the approprigate thread that is.
  5. Having an opinion is usually imformed by information, be it factually right or wrong. From your post you have formed an opinion without any information. I do not understand this at all. Whats the problem with my argument? Im not here to win anything. If you or any one argues a very good point, im happy to form a different opinion.
  6. I think i read somewhere Cale hired a personal trainer on top of his training with the club. If thats true he obviously is improving his off field application and is trying to turn things around. If anyone has a breakout year, i hope its Cale. He has massive talent.
  7. Bonkers you make a good point. Cale will find it harder to put on muscle than other players. By nature of his physical make up. As already pointed out he has put on weight and that is expected being a full time athlete. Muscle and strength are not always inclusive. Some people look big but are not always as strong as smaller lkg people. Cale's big issue IMO is his application. Mentally he looks scared out on the ground. As Mark Neeld has stated in an article, toughness and application can be coached.
  8. How about providing examples of bad governance and leadership instead of giving blanket statements that have yet to be substantiated. Everyone knows about the period surrounding 186, and we have come out of that a better football club. As already stated. No point going over old news, for or against this argument. Then look into your crystal ball and let all supporters know where the boards (in particular Jim) will fail.
  9. Is there such a thing? Elite players tend to play more pivital roles. Watts will never be a med forward. By nature of his body size
  10. I worry about our recent early selections too but i think some on this site are being some what alarmist with the recruitment of Cook. Every AFL list needs a good balance of veterans, players who have experince, youth and young developing project players. When i look at out recent top draft selections i question do we have enough quality to bring the club to elite status, but i will wait until i get too worried. Or until a massive loss ;-) Trengove is the only player that gives me confidence in his ability to become elite. Watts i hope can become a KPF we desperately need. The jury is still out if he will become an elite CHF. Gysberts shows alot of promise too but is no certainty. Morton showed promise but has gone backwards. Grimes cant get on the park and when he does, he cant stay on the park for sustained periods. He is another maybe at this stage. Cook is the least to worry about as he needs time and its only fair to give such time. Gys is a skinny mid and needs time to build a body too. All have massive upside, but will they reach their potential Overall to many ifs at this stage with our top recent recruits, small or tall players. Having said this i have more confidence in the FD in developing our players and still live in massive hope and anticipation.
  11. Its safe to assume Jim and current board are not extreme in their actions, or philosophies.
  12. RR what in the past 12 months has occurred that warrants getting rid of the current board? Different to what has already been named. No point going on about 186 and the handling of DB being sacked, its been said. Its not worth sacking a board over IMO. I say board as they work as a team with Jim as Pres. The guy is unwell cut him some slack. Employers are legally expected to show sensitivity is such situations. Maybe you should too. Dont attack others for using Jims sickness as reason to make a point when you are doing the exact same thing!
  13. No point having resources if they arent utilised. Mission has the runs on the board to suggest he knows sport science. So does Craig
  14. If CS and DB were in a war as suggested, they are responsible for their actions. The Boards role is to fix the problem, not Jim alone. Its an aspect of this boards reign that was not handled that well, not exactly reflective of its overall performance. Ive been in management for a while and sackings are always ugly. Being informed of your role being terminated over the phone is poor form. But no one is aware of the circumstances that lead to this.
  15. I do think its heartless that some say Jim should resign as his sickness is stopping him from being an effective Pres. My reasoning is that i have not seen any evidence to say he and the board are not doing their job. Yes the board (and jim) could have handled the sacking of DB better, and the period surrounding 186. But what came out of this was Garry came to the club in an active role. Something many previous Boards had tried and failed to do. A strategic move that has paid dividends. He came to the club due to Jims sickness. If you want to pick a positive from a dreadful circumstance, this is an example where his illness worked to Jims and the clubs benefit. Nothing makes me 'feel good' in this circumstance! I would hope this is the case with everyone! But, IMO this board is the most successful in modern history. This not a sentimental statement. The facts are Paid debts. Debt free. I dont care if donations paid the debt, the club no longer wastes money on interest the debt incurred. All i see is that Jim utilised and transfered his skill from the Reach program (fundraising) and paid off the MFC debt. Kudos MFC board and CEO! Club resources. Training facilities. Multiple coaches. Sport science expertise and facilities to support the expertise. One big sponsor (2nd sponsor is a worry). Big recruits. Clark. Neeld. Craig and Mission. All these guys made a CHOICE to come to our club. If the Board was unstable, they would have gone elsewhere. Does this make me feel good? Yes. Why? Because i measure the success with the facts and applaud a functional board and Pres. Thet fact he is an inspirational spiritual leader is a bonus
  16. I have to agree with everyones anger and anxieties. Its getting late and why the club have not come out to say a sponsor is immenant is worrying. On a side note, how much do Toyota give to the AFL? Why do they sack 350 ppl yet give money elsewhere? Its wrong IMO!
  17. All club boards approve the captain and the LG. Neil Balme said this on KB's show last week. It maybe just a formality, but the process is followed. So i think the MFC board do have at least a tokanistic imput
  18. I worry about FA. I cant see the clubs like the filth, carlscum, geelong, WC losing out. Their culture (winning and club) says traditionally players dont leave. It may mean the poorer clubs lose out. I hope the MFC is well prepared and match a culture that is tight and a winning one.
  19. Oh Lutz O'Meara was drafted by GC, as was Crouch to the AFC. Viney has a contract with the MFC and will be drafted. Its a big difference. Viney is not allowed to play the NAB as your heading implies. Fix it pls. Flogging a dead horse
  20. Mis-leading heading. Change it. There is nothing to see here, move along!
  21. Those who ask for Jimmy to stand down read above. IMO those who arent believers in Jimmy under estimate his abilities and show a very low moral fibre. Even business has a heart. All i see is a Pres who has shown remarkable insight to get a very astute football brain in Garry Lyon and talented Mr McLardy to step up as he had more important issues in the last 6 months. I see this as excellent leadership. Its very understandable that a man who is fighting for life to lean on 2 men he respects and trust. He asked these 2 men trusting they were up to the task. I will also add its a legal grey area to sack an ill person. Especially when he has added value to the club getting astute ppl to take up responsibilities. Even Steve Jobs was given to his very near end to play a role in one of the biggest companies world wide. He chose when to walk away. If Apple can do it so can the MFC. Sincere thanks Garry, Don, Jimmy Craig and the board for the changes you have made possible and have made over the last 3 years. We are at minimum on equal grounds with the AFL powerful clubs, or hopefully ahead. This is dependant on the the structural changes and personal recruited (on and off the field). No need to dream, start believing! Special thanks to Jimmy
  22. Im just trying to point out he was not our worst player and the club fell over in many depts. No captain could have lead well under such circumstances. Instead of shooting him down, understand the difficulties that confronted him. Im not sure who should be captain. I think the leadership group is more important than the captain.
  23. This is why I like my club being a club that asks 'how would the person feel about that'? It has a part to play in every organisation. Including a multi national company. Jimmy Stynes and the MFC have been in a long term relationship and it has been functionally good for both parties for decades. The day the MFC turns on Jimmy due to his inabilty to act as a functional President will be the day i turn my back on the club. He is the 'Spiritual Leader' and that plays a pivotal part in the make up of the club. His illness transcends the MFC to every club and the AFL. Every club supporter, AFL supporter and non supporter are dropping any deep seated bias and banding together to hope for the well being for the guy This post is not sentimental tripe. To talk tough and suggest to drop the guy as he is unable to function at 100% is just wrong. Its not even human. Jim inspires ppl and the players/club.
  24. I watched the games. Stats dont lie perceptions do.
