  1. Don't forget Tyrone Vickery
  2. Not sure if you read my post but it was less about his play involvments and more about his experience. Brayshaw spoke really highly about his work in teaching younger players last year. The maths I have done is without him in organising us we have been a shambles in defence and look like a bottom team. Not sure we can blame him for being so reliant on him or we blame other players/coaches for being unable to take the step up.
  3. I know he cops a lot on here because he's slow and goes to ground at every opportunity but I think he has been the biggest difference between our defence this year and last year. It feels like we are really lacking a leader to tell others what where to position and man up. We end up with two players marking space while the opposition gets an easy mark between the two players/2 players going up and no one staying down/not covering the overlap. What are your thoughts? He's still out for a couple so will need either hibberd or Jetta to step up on field.
  4. Gotta feel for the lad as it seemed like he was in contention for a rd 1 spot. It's going to be really hard for him to work his back into the team halfway through the season but best of luck to him.
  5. I'd add the Richmond game and the Essendon game. In the richmond game we played one good quarter in the third quarter where they still managed to match us. In the essendon game the first half was a battle of who was less worse. I think we definitely improved last year in terms of consistency and even the best teams will have some consistency issues but there is still room for us.
  6. Care to elaborate on this anymore? Link on that article doesn't work. Lol...
  7. Pretty ordinary post. Loyalty works both ways! We weren't willing to offer what the saints were. The life of an afl footballer is short and security of three years is a much better option of possibly without a job next year.
  8. I think it would be remiss of any medical department to blame it completely on rotten luck. Although luck may play a small component, the current recurrence of acl's seems to be particularly high. Especially with acls that seem to be innocuous (simple change of direction) rather than a heavy knock on the knee. From the reports it seems like docherty's knee was innocuous and I would be disappointed if the Carlton medical department went through the exact same recovery program as the first time with acl's. I would be looking at increasing recovery time, building up more strength in other parts of the knee, taking mandatory breaks. This is from a completely uneducated opinion. And west coast took am extra long approach to the recovery with niknat but he still did his. Although they did say that they were planning to him breaks throughout the year which didnt seem to happen.
  9. Just saw docherty has done his acl again. Terrible news but I really hope we let Lever take as long and slow as necessary so something similar doesnt happen to him
  10. Honestly I think we're missing a creative small forward who can make goals out of nothing. Sure we had melksham, spargo and neal bulleen in there but garlett is the best reader of the play. Saying is he's not a goodwin type player is not true as well. He was in the team at the start of the season and was dropped due to poor form. He didnt light it up at casey but was still recalled which shows goodwin rates him. I think we can all admit that garlett had a poor season and he hasnt had the same standards that he has brought to mfc every year since he joined. If garlett can recapture his early 2017 form where he was on track for a 50 goal season. It wont be a question of whether he can please you enough to make the melbourne team but more a question whether he can make the AA team.
  11. Good to hear about stretch. Really hoping he can nail preseason and push for one those wing roles we seem to struggle with next year.
  12. Wouldn't be surprised. Would explain the massive unders we took for him. Let this sink in. GWS traded Boyd 1 year in for pick 4 and griffen and they were offering pick 6 and another later pick for griffen. Boyd had and still has not showed a quarter of the potential of hogan
  13. Bradshaw im the fev trade
  14. I'll bite mr know-it-all. How do you prevent players blocking the ruckman if no one nominates as a ruckman?
  15. Not sure where you would get that idea from. Just last year we offloaded a former no.1 pick for cheap because we couldnt get consistency and we struggle to get consistency out of petrecca. While i think we've improved from the underdevelopment of players I think i'd only rate Hawthorn as a club who are able to turn player's careers around (and even they fail sometimes - dayle garlett)
  16. Pretty obvious you dont watch much of GC if you think May is similar to Pederson. Theres no way GC would accept a 2019 first round pick as they would get a higher pick if they let him go for free agency. They only way a deal would be completed is if they got a high draft pick this year.
  17. Id say it would probably be the security of a 3 year contract. Cant see us offering close to that
  18. I think we should focus on the inconsistent players on our list (Petracca) before we try to grab inconsistent players on other lists and make them guns
  19. Just wanted to send some brayshaw love. Thought he was really important last night. Mightve been a coincidence but when he went off with the knock the hawks were all over us. He comes on gets that scrappy kick to set melksham up.
  20. Coming from interstate and would love an extra barcode. Happy to return the favour and give my barcode away in later weeks (maybe not the grand final if we make it)
  21. I defended you when everyone was attacking your unpopular opinions about Gaff yet here you are attacking someone for expressing their opinions on a player. Its a forum where people are free to express what they want. Just because you don't like it doesnt mean he doesnt have a right to express it.
  22. If that does occur I bet the hawks and sydney will draw so we finish 5th anyway
  23. Did you listen to Gus on the AFL exchange. He was [censored] and rightfully so. I would expect there would be a fair few issues that need to be worked through if mfc was to offer Gaff a contract
  24. Hodge and Mitchell both had success with the Hawks. Jones has stuck with us through the worst period and should be there to enjoy the good times. Loyalty works both ways. If he wanted a big payday he wouldve left ages ago.
