There's no need to burn him at a stake. It's not a witch hunt. He obviously has some sort of intel and it's not like he is throwing random names out there with zero credibility. People have emotions and opinions that change by the day. Nothing is certain until someone signs. If you want to hear about only certainties I suggest you follow the trade tracker page on the afl website. At that point Dr Evil probably heard that Isaac Smith was going to sign. Situations evolved and he changed his mind. I appreciate people like him providing rumours that they have heard as I don't have any connections. What you are doing is creating witch hunt because of some detail that turned out not to be correct. It's great for discouraging others from posting rumours they have heard.

Very familiar. If I was a hindsight recruiter we'd won 20 of the last 20 premierships. Neeld had his faults but I'm not sure you can blame him for not picking someone who lasted until pick 58...

Pretty simplistic view. How about this, you create an environment that encourages a good culture so loyal people don't want to leave. As I said he was willing to put up with some of our [censored] to stay for 4 years. In those 4 years we ruined the development and playing careers of numerous players... grimes, trengove, Morton and Gysberts to name a few. They might not all have been starts but I honestly think if they were given opportunities in a better environment their careers would've been different. Now if my my workplace had a [censored] culture I wouldn't want to stay. I would say if we had a decent environment frawley probably would've stayed. The club fosters the right environment and you'll never get anywhere blaming good players for leaving if we can't create the right environment. Unfortunately for us. We've got some sort of atrachment and don't have a direct look in in that environment to call it quits. We just hope that it changes.

Pretty harsh to say he didn't care. He cared enough to sign a 4 year deal when we were pretty bad. Then came the neeld years and it was obvious the club was going nowhere. It's easy to say only supporters care when I can say plenty of supporters dropped off during those hard years. We have supporters who are saying they won't renew next year with Goodwin in charge. Hi @Lord Nev, given you've been right about a few things just thought I'd ask this, it seems like you're in the know. Has there been a big change in the amount of info that's being leaked since PJ was at the top? I remember before PJ we seemed to be a leaky ship but once he was brought in the information seemed to have dried up. Now that he has gone it seems like there's more info out there. Is this something you have noticed as well? Or am I totally wrong?

Don't have to trade him but is there much point keeping a player on an inflated salary that will just be sitting in the 2s unless Gawn gets injured? I'd rather have a late second rounder/third round than have someone eat cap space and be worth nothing in 2 years.

Seems like we tried to switch to a dual ruck plan similar to West Coast where we drop Gawn behind the ball and have another ruck in Preuss up in the forward half of the ground. I think problem was we overestimated Preuss' forward ability and ended up with a ruckman who just wasn't good enough to fill the role we wanted. Makes the Preuss recruitment I guess a little less baffling. It also to me explains why we went after Luke Jackson in the draft.

Would be wary of a knee jerk reaction. Two weeks ago we'd probably be saying that we have major problems in every line. Still think we have problems with the forward line and I think quick teams will still be able to score easily on the counter.

Reckon our entries into 50 still aren't great but the F50 pressure has really improved.

We already have recruited someone with long term concussion issues in Kolodjashnij. I'd argue that the McCartin's concussion issues are worse because they have been more regular and him having more time off with no improvement. I think that McCartin also has some genetic predisposition to concussion as it seems his brother also has concussion issues. I wouldn't extend Kolodjashnij's contract and I wouldn't recruit McCartin because there's close to 0 chance it'll get better.

Does this even matter? Given there are no crowds you could pretty much consider the Essendon game a home game. This would never happen but I would go far as to say that this season I would be happy to for interstate teams to have more home games than melbourne based teams. This would even out the amount of travel interstate sides have to do.

Lol you've probably showed more intensity in your posts than any of the players. I didn't enjoy any of the free flowing stuff. Once a player got free it was an easy goal.

Which ones are incorrect? The only one which you could argue is speculation would be the tanking and that would probably be because the afl didn't charge us on it. If you take your rose coloured glasses off it's pretty clear we tanked. I don't think anyone has straight up said the club have not invited Bennell because the truth is none of us know. I think this thread has spiralled into two sides of the fence.

Your blind faith in the club is just as bad as always assuming the worst. I just thought it was strange that Bennell was not part of the group. There could be a valid reason or the club might not have invited him. To assume the powers to be are always right leads to situations like the essendon drug saga. This is a club that tanked, had associations with Dank, didn't review a massive finals loss that led to a miserable season, sent out finals guide before we had even made the finals and some examples of stuff ups. I don't believe in unwaivering belief and I think it's healthy to ask questions instead of assuming the best.
