Practice Match - Melbourne v Hawthorn @ Casey Fields
Barney Rubble replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I thought Byrnes was a shoe in, but his game in Alice was atrocious. So many fumbles that ended up in the hands of his old club. It looked like the Cats had 19 players on the ground at some stages. -
Practice Match - Melbourne v Hawthorn @ Casey Fields

Viney may be used more at half-forward or on the wing this season, with coach Paul Roos keen to ease some of the load on the 19-year-old. Utility Cameron Pedersen (hamstring) will also return in the game against the Hawks, while Jimmy Toumpas has been given the all clear – provided he gets through training on Thursday – after copping a head-knock from Billie Smedts in the NAB Challenge game against the Cats. Exciting youngster Jay Kennedy-Harris will also play against the Hawks. I thought the same, but after reading what the Captain says. JKH a certainty. Demons co-captain Nathan Jones said Jay Kennedy-Harris – who booted three goals in the club's opening NAB Challenge game against Richmond – was firming for round one against the Saints. "I reckon he's a big chance. I've been pretty excited by his pre-season and he had a pretty game in the NAB Challenge," Jones told AFL.com.au. -

I went to the closed session today. No one told me to p155 off. I was the only spectator there. It was just specific skills training. Kicking straight over 20m was very impressive. Low sharp passing dead straight. Chest high. Hogan was doing laps. Watts was very upbeat and vocal in the kicking drills. Hunt was a bit embarrassed with the few tat didn't hit the target. Viney was there today Pata The Rehab group arrived about 10:15 Gawn Pedo no sign of Dawes and Clarky. I tried to ask Ben Matthews a question, but was fresh aired. I guess that's the different with closed training. Their mouth is closed. -

I'm sure there will be another LTI before his time is up. (it always happens) -
Don't try and compare Viney with Watts and Michie. They play totally different roles. Watts outside Mid, Michie HFF, Viney in and under mid. Nate Jones, Dom Tyson are the form players of in and under and at stoppages. Viney is a long way from them AT THIS STAGE. (Round 1)

Some help with planning Darwin trip.

I went last year and took my wife to her first game of AFL. If you haven't been to NT before, then certainly spend the money and see Kakadu and Arnhem land. We did the return Journey via the Ghan to Alice (uluru) then Adelaide. We had a fantastic time in spite of us going down to the Lions. CBD the best place to stay. -
I've got Watts, only since he looks like playing midfield, he could pick up cheap possessions. Georgiou (sub) (cheap) Vince, Tyson Clark Hogan and JKH.(cheap) Far too many I know. Clark, Hogan could be culled. I wnt to see what Hogan can produce in Rd. 1 & 2. last year I didn't have one in the side.

Everyone is still out on the turps celebrating last Thursdays Intraclub win. -
1. you have got to be kidding! 2. You are now getting a bit closer to the mark. He has had a minor hamstring strain and has taken nearly 3 months to get over it. I saw him in the intraclub and he didn't really want to jump in the ruck. I know he was taking it easy because it was his first run, but it was the first run for others as well and they put in hard. Gawn has 2 gears when he plays GO and Whoa. He needs to get some consistency.
-
I didn't think I'd ever utter these words. Ssspeeenceeeerrr. From what I saw in the Intraclub he is head and shoulders over the others in all facets of ruckwork. He is a beautiful exponent of tap ruckwork. Has bulk and a big tank. He just needs to cultivate a football brain and get that talking to his feet. As who will be our No. 1 in 5 years. I always thought Max Gawn was the Heir Apparent. His attitude needs to lift to take on that role. So the answer is NFI

What do you expect from a club that delisted J. Gysberts?

A few immediate things that came to mind. Kingy is 2 years and 15kg away from playing AFL. Hogan is lacking some serious match practice if he doesn't get that over the next couple of weeks, I can't see him lining up Round 1. Tyson & Salem look ready to go. With the doubts on the Big Three. I can see Gawn and Spencer lining up Round 1. (Spencer should teach Jamar how to palm the ball to a player and hit them on the chest) JKH played all over the ground. Reads the play well and sets up plays. Hunt has speed to burn, actually looks faster than Blease. Don't be surprised to see Fitzy at CHF Gawn at FF Howe at FP Round 1. ( don't think the other 3 are any where near right yet) -
