There has to be a morning after ...
Barney Rubble replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
At the mid point of the season, I was so up, it wasn't funny. The run home sent my feelings into a downward spiral. I cancelled my direct debit membership after the GWS game. I'll probably re-sign after we have another off season recruiting bonanza. It will all come down to can we kick winning scores. Scoring 1 or 2goals at halftime will p155 me off. -
Too true DC. All is required of him is to go to Roos or Mahoney or both and say I am going to put my name in the hat as a free agent. No club commitment is needed.

If you can believe SEN. Geelong May have got a verbal signature. Balmy is pumped.

Thanks for the report Pit Master I wish I had gone. I went to the first and that was a great night. It must have been a tad disappointing with only 60 or so turning up. Gawny would have been a riot. ROOSY was obviously giving some great feedback, he seems to be able to know exactly what the supporters want to know. He delivers it well. I will go next year if they have similar formats.

He'll be be heading down the surf coast area, make no mistake. A good country boy, and the cattery is about as close as you'll get to country life. His heart is no longer bleeding red & blue. When he moves to Geelong he will win more games in 2 seasons than he has won at Melbourne in his career. we'll get pick 3 to go with our pick 2. Win Win all round. He tells the club tomorrow unless he did it last night.

If anyone thinks re-signing Riley was....
Barney Rubble replied to Leoncelli_36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Nothing wrong with a Pig Dog. Tough never gives up until he wins. Just the attitude about 20 other players need. The kicking will come. Getting the ball is the main objective . He has that in spades. -
I would take anything as long as he put his head over the ball.

I sent an email to the membership department this morning. My Demon for Life membership is cancelled. After 60 years supporting the club, it's over as a member. I will still support the DEES, but it will be passively. I hope they prove me wrong.

Welcome to the Melbourne Demons - Christian Petracca.
Barney Rubble replied to Coup Cooper's topic in Melbourne Demons
I reckon after today Frawley will be begging us for a contract. No-one in their right mind would want to throw money at him. Petracca would be handy. We'll get Billy stretch and should be well positioned for Angus Brayshaw. -
Let's cut to the chase... Who is gone!
Barney Rubble replied to inanunda's topic in Melbourne Demons
Good start Add Grimes, Dawes Barry Watts ......... Michie & Riley on the edge -
Footscray v Casey Scorpions (Jesse Hogan returns)
Barney Rubble replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
We could always run our own club. That would be novel. -
Gee BBub, the last time two teams tanked on the same day TJ got 42 uncontested possessions. And we won. Although you could say Caaaarlton lost doubly because they picked up Kreuzer 2 other cups. Bruce Gibbs cup. Nic Nat cup. Couldn't get our hands on it.

Footscray v Casey Scorpions (Jesse Hogan returns)
Barney Rubble replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sounds like a tank. Moves like a tank. Therefore logic says we are tanking. -

Hello! Is anyone at the game? Has Jesse goaled yet? -

5 of them have played together this year, how many goals have they kicked? -
Players to target at the end of the year
Barney Rubble replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
If Hogan plays CHF. We need to go after Boyd. We also need a shot at Adam Tomlinson, Tyson needs someone to carry his clubs. I would like to pick up a gun midfielder, somehow I don't see that happening. We also need to pick up leaders, we don't have any. -

Craigieburn........ I don't travel that far for my holidays. What state is that again.? Seriously it's great to see Jesse's name up in lights. I expect nothing less than 6 goals and a few broken doggies. -
Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
Barney Rubble replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
I love these threads. It's like reading a Perry Mason novel. It has a lot of twist and turns, but in the end Perry wins. In this case Essendon lose, no matter which way you look at it. Arse protecting does not look good in any business. -
The good lady has a birthday today. No I won't be going lunch at Kyneton. Any margin under 40 points wouldn't be embarrassing.

How lucky are we Chris Dawes said no to us.
Barney Rubble replied to ashdemons22's topic in Melbourne Demons
I don't deny he competes his arse off WYL We have a lot of players that also compete their arse off. The problem we have with Dawes and the others, is they haven't got the skill set to make competing worthwhile. -
Melbourne , a team waiting to be beaten - Paul Roos
Barney Rubble replied to beelzebub's topic in Melbourne Demons
Rosie's response. They don't go out there with the intent of losing. It's just that they expect to be beaten. Losing is a habit at the club, just like winning is a habit at Geelong hawthorn swans etc.. -
Players to target at the end of the year
Barney Rubble replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
We need leaders. Someone who understands the modern game and can analyse it on the run. It's no good waiting to the end of a game or quarter to talk about it. On field leaders are just that, players that can see how the game is changing and make immediate changes or contact the bench. If that doesn't happen then the game can be lost. The leaders that fit this mold are Sellwood, Hodge. Mitchell, Lewis, Pavlich, (probably 6 swans) Watson. Pick up 1 or 2 of those types and I'd be happier. -
Melbourne , a team waiting to be beaten - Paul Roos
Barney Rubble replied to beelzebub's topic in Melbourne Demons
On the couch tonight. Healy Dunstall and Mike Sheehan discussed the Melbourne list at length. Mike had a list of must retain. Tunstall did a list of potential trade bait with those that still have currency. Amongst the trade bait was Watts and Grimes. I wasn't switched on to write down the 2 lists, perhaps someone could help if they watched. -

And you think getting rid of those fringe players will make us a winning team? The leaders really need a bomb up their a%#e -

How many that haven t been signed "that played at the weekend can we get rid of?. Don't mention the ones that haven't played recently. They will probably go anyway. Jetta has been our most courageous and consistent player recently. Dunn has signed, McDonald has signed. Garland has been carp, Dawes can't mark a ball. Jamar can't handball to a player running past. neither can Riley. McKenzie can't kick. Watts is trying to use his body but he just doesn't know how, to easily brushed aside. Blease as been as useless as udders on a bull. Tappy lead well all day on Sunday, especially for the kick ins, but they didn't honour his leads, they just kicked in to contested situations. Is this because they can:t kick to a target (me thinks this is the main problem) Is Rawlings still the right man to have coaching us down back? The Game Plan is not working when the pressure gets on them. The 2 way running of the midfield only works so often. I seem to be rambling, but there are so many problems.
