  1. There are seventeen other clubs. Please go support one of them. It doesn't matter which one as long as it gets you away from this one.
  2. I hope he never plays another senior game.
  3. I flush things down the toilet that I have more respect for than Wallace, and Barrett is a gossip monger not a football brain. Their opinions on what our plans may or may not be mean less than nothing. I'm pretty meh on Dawes but I trust that Neeld knows what he can bring and what he's really worth. Depending on the cost I'll either be happy or depressed about getting him. On Gumby I really don't know. Horribly injury prone but if he can stay fit... as a cheap risky pick then maybe he's worth the chance. Only a cheap pick though. I guess that it comes down to me wanting the club to have a sensible set point where they are ready to walk away. I don't really want us to have to get into bidding wars or sweetening deals to get these guys over the line because while they might be useful but they won't missed if we don't get them.
  4. We're getting picks and a couple of other players to sweeten the deal, right?
  5. That would be my preference. Who wants to get into a bidding war for a player whose only talent is that he's big?
  6. I like Riv and hope he stays, but if not I'm not going to worry about it too much. He's a good player that will never be a great, and we'll cover the loss without too much pain.
  7. They way I look at it is GWS involved themselves in blackmail and draft tampering. We owe them nothing. We owe ourselves the best deal possible.
  8. Yep. Too much. That's probably equal to pick #1. Anyway I wouldn't give them one of the Scully compo picks just on general principles. If that was the deal they cut so we got Jack at 26 then I say we offer them # 3 and tell them to take it or leave it.
  9. I want hard, tough players. I want 17 other clubs cursing the memory of Mitch Robinson and his bruise free comments. I want them all to know that they've been in a game when they play us, and that if they beat us they know that we will hit them harder next time. If this kid can bring that sort of attitude then I want him.
  10. Then we should pass. Dawes is just an average player with some size. He'll fill a need here for a couple of years but he's not important enough to chase with an end of first round type pick.
  11. I'd prefer a swap of perhaps Martin for Dawes rather than using the mythical pick 20.
  12. Play it safe and we will have a nice side that will win 12 games a year and never make a prelim. I'd rather crash and burn going for glory.
  13. I agree. Pick 3 is a potential superstar. Asking for more than that is just greedy.
  14. Will never die wondering. I'd love to bottle that quality of his and force more than a few of his team-mates to drink the stuff.
  15. IF we are seriously considering it, then, yes, that is probably what is going on. However I think (or hope) that Collingwood has used #4 as a starting point and we - being interested in the duo but not at that price - didn't laugh in their faces because we are interested in seeing what the real price is. Or maybe this is just so much furphy and bumf as is usual at this time of year.
  16. I'd do that in a heartbeat. I doubt GC would be keen though, Not so keen on that one. I understand the thinking but I'd rather top ten picks if possible.
  17. If we are seriously entertaining this then I give up. Both are average bit part players and not worth #13 let alone #4.
  18. Who? Us? Do you really think any other club looks at us as a possible threat? Viney - no matter how good he ends up - is just one player. We need about ten. If they bid it's because they see him as a valuable get, not because they have some vague fear of running into us deep in September 2017.
  19. Sorta figured it was always going to happen as long as they massaged him the right way. Oh well, I enjoyed watching Riv play for us but people come and people go. Next.
  20. I like it. Fills a need, doesn't cost much, and can be discarded without pain if it doesn't work out.
  21. Because last century none of these things were important. Many a club would recoil in horror at drafting a goal kicking mid or ruckman, while good disposal as a backman was surefire one way ticket to the country leagues. I think we should make Lloyd our Prez and CEO so that we can benefit from his truly visionary thinking.
