  1. I like where your mind is at, but I'd caution in getting too wrapped up in the value of points alone. They are a guide and mainly useful for f/s and academy bidding. We've regularly seen lopsided trades using the points system for various reasons. Usually when trying to trade up, clubs will have to "overpay" in points to entice the club. Gws as it stands is in best position to make a play for pick 1 with their hand. As colm posted, our most likely option is GC picks 9. This is due to them most likely wanting to trade it out for academy bidding purposes. Something left field might come out though and if Giants don't make a play for Reid then they are another potential trading partner.
  2. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/i-miss-it-hardwick-says-he-will-return-to-coaching-20230626-p5djg9.html Is anyone surprised?
  3. I recall this as well. Makes West Coast's failures more enjoyable. Can Geelong be next please?
  4. Is this the worst match-up visually in the AFL? That Gold Coast jumper abomination and then hawthorn with their colours (admittedly this design is better than their home one).
  5. Three holding the man frees not paid to crows, this umpiring is atrocious.
  6. And a crow nearly had his face kicked-in and again no call
  7. Kicking in-danger is just about a non-existent rule now. Seen two that should have gone against Collingwood in the last quarter and a bit.
  8. I'd we want Reid we really need freo to give us a top 5-6 pick to be in the conversation. We couldn't even trade into pick 5/6 with 3 first rounders last year.
  9. Oscar Allen is a young talent you build your side around and is contracted until 2025. We'd be better off looking at the older players like Barrass or Yeo who may not want to go through a full rebuild to see out their careers. And no way they should be getting list concessions 5 years after winning a flag. They'll sort themselves out in time.
  10. Or the classic, 'as I mentioned before/earlier...' despite sometimes nothing of the sort being said earlier.
  11. English is also my first language, I'm just really bad at it. *apologies for the lame set-up and joke, felt funny at the time and is sort of an inside joke as my partner, who isn't a native English speaker, speaks English far better than I do.
  12. Sydney up by 52 points at quarter time and Eagles % is now below 50.
  13. Dees currently with pick 5 with Sydney comfortably ahead of freo on percentage. Still want essendon to win. I'm of the view that if we have to hope for teams around us to fail for us to qualify for top 4 then we aren't much chop anyway. Let freo fall as far as possible and put top 4 in our own hands.
  14. Also English is my second language so struggle with some expressions and writing.
  15. Fair enough, I mainly read anti-bomber sentiment which I completely understand.
  16. I'm in the minority that want the bombers to win evidently. Give me them low picks and watch the bombers get knocked out in the first elimination final and build false hope.
  17. Purely outcome based. If Rohan was in a dees jumper (puke) he would be rubbed out for a month for lack of duty of care as "a reasonable player could foresee that his actions were inherently dangerous and would result in injury." System is cooked.
  18. I'd almost be tempted to move Smith back to take Hibberds role and have Brown, JvR as our talls with Fritsch as our 3rd. Hibberd, while playing some good footy this year, looks just about done and can't get through more than a couple games without needing a spell. Not sure we can rely on him come September.
  19. I wouldn't mind promoting Laurie to be honest. He disposes of it better than most on our list and nearly had 3 goals with his 20 odd disposals on the half forward line. I'd bring him in for Chandler who hasn't provided much for the past month or so. Turner had a great game but not sure there's a spot for him unless they move Petty forward, but I'd be putting Brown in who looked the best he's been in a long time.
  20. And the poor umpiring continues with Bowey penalised with a "push in the back" which clearly wasn't and in fact should have been rewarded for holding the ball.
  21. Verrall is an impressive size for a teenager. Brown, Schache, Woewodin, Laurie and Tominson all playing well among others
  22. My ideal ins/outs (ie probably won't happen) In: Oliver, Bowey, Tomlinson Out: Jordon, Spargo, Chandler Tomlinson back, Petty forward. If Brown is fit and in good VFL form then him forward, Petty back and Tomlinson stays out. Bowey to half back and Rivers to spend more time in the midfield. This part is probably harsh but I would make Smith sub. Think he offers so much versatility that he can be subbed on for just about anyone. He can slot down back if a defender goes down or likewise forward. If its a mid that goes down then he can release someone from those areas to play more midfield minutes. I was really hoping Laurie kicked on this year, he is the ideal replacement for ANB with superior skills and decision making. Not sure he has the defensive running numbers though.
  23. Channel 7 not showing Melbourne presser. Disrespectful much?
  24. Not sure who goes in and out as we never make a lot of changes. I'd look to bring Oliver and Bowey in. Would like a proper key forward in as well, Brown being the most likely candidate but not sure how likely that would be. Jordon, Spargo and Chandler all in danger of being dropped while Hibberd may need further resting and Petty looks underdone. Will probably end up being Oliver in, Jordon out.
