  1. Damo, not sure how much you can read into it. IF ... a lot of the pre-trade and national draft period talk among rival clubs is to be believed THEN ... the Eagles won’t be taking Harley Reid.
  2. We're still eligible for free agency compensation should his contract warrant it.
  3. Without reading the article I presume it infers we will trade for pick 10 from the Suns after the dogs nab pick 4 with 10 and 17. What we do with 5, 10 and 13 is what is of interest to me. Either take 3 players or trade up using two of those picks are the two obvious choices.
  4. You sure you're not confusing him with young Yze? Kalani was named in the U16 All Australian team. No gaurentees to make it obviously but a pretty impressive starting point.
  5. That's the impression I got listening to it first time round. Hopeful demon supporter surmising that we must have something in the works with our draft capital and salary cap space. I think we get McAdam and a back-up ruck, then focus on improving our draft hand in this year and next. In my view, we will have a good crack at a serious player next year.
  6. Not a free agent unfortunately
  7. There's an article suggesting Port may look to us or Sydney to split their future first for multiple 2nd round picks. If we go down that route we should have an advantage as we are surely going to get at least one of Sydney's 2nd rounders. @adonski death ride 2024 may be on, port edition
  8. Like the idea but he won't help us on field for another 2 years. Not sure how we fit JvR, Cadman and Jefferson into the same forward line either but I'm sure they'll find a way.
  9. I can see us on-trading that for McAdam.
  10. My assests could do with a performance enhancing injection.
  11. Well said. Not sure why there's so much talk about Larkey on here. He made noises about being a one club player and signed a huge deal with the roos just a few months ago.
  12. Apologies if there is already a thread for this. Received a text earlier today stating final tickets are on sale and close tomorrow (Thursday the 28th) at 12pm. I presume some demonlanders will be attending?
  13. That's the simpler and more ideal outcome. I'd be happy with 11 for Grundy and 24 if possible.
  14. They do, and there is certainly potential for it to be rejected. However there is nothing actually illegal about any of these transactions. They've approved salary dumping moves previously and free agency compensation is its own box and in theory it's just about meeting set criteria. In this scenario, Jordon has age, multi-year contract and price that should trigger band 1. AFL won't be getting involved in what clubs decide they're willing to pay for certain players. Just remember Geelong got pick 7 and Bowes last year and only gave up money for him. It's a loophole, one that may be closed after this year if my scenario or the essendon/st kilda one happens.
  15. Stupid hypothetical because I'm bored. With the talk of essendon and saints manipulating free agency compo, perhaps we can do the same with the swans. Grundy and Jordon are strongly linked there with the media consensus being a 2nd round pick will get it done with Swans taking on the remainder of his wage. Jordon will likely net us a 3rd round pick (in the 50s). Here's my dumb proposal. 1. Trade Grundy to Swans for pick 31. 2. Offer to pay 500k per year for the remainder of his contract. Swans therefore only paying 150k for him. 3. Get Swans to pay over the top for Jordon, 800k over 3years, triggering band 1 compensation (pick 14 to dees). Grundy and Jordon to Sydney with the swans paying 950k for two players (close to average AFL wage). Melbourne lose Grundy and Jordon but gain pick 14 and 31. 500k for 5 years the downside however we will be freeing up approx; - 500k with a potential harmes move. - 150k for Jordon - 400k for Hibberd and Melksham Tomlinson, Brown and T-Mac off this list next year will save close to a million, we shouldn't be tight for cap space. Melbourne then has 13 and 14 which is superior to the Bulldogs offer for Pick 4. Out: Grundy, Jordon, 500k x 5yrs In: Pick 4 and 31 Dumb, I know.
  16. Pick 7 would be ours. You're missing Gold Coast's pick 6.
  17. I don't know this space very well but Caracella was supposed to have good wraps on him. Has spent time at Geelong, Richmond and now Essendon.
  18. That's actually a decent shout if we can't get our hands on that Gold Coast pick, which is looking increasingly unlikely. We get pick 3 and can choose from McKercher/Duursma and North end up with 3 picks in the top 7 (post FA and Academy picks).
  19. Cheers, that makes more sense.
  20. Article on sen in regards to suns pick 4. “It will be changing hands. Whether North can compete with the Bulldogs remains to be seen, or whether North pivot and go for Melbourne’s first pick.” Swear afl journalists have such a poor understanding of the trade and draft period. In what world would we accept pick 14 and 19 for a top 5 pick. We don't need points and 14 and 19 will become compromised by at least 4 academy and f/s selections. Would roughly look more like pick 7 for 18 and 23.
  21. I would presume so
  22. Online article on the Herald Sun website purporting to have the "latest" on Petty. Can't access it.
  23. If harmes goes to gold coast I wouldn't be unhappy with pick 5 and harmes for pick 4.
  24. Presuming they're encouraging North to trade their extra future firsts under the guise of it being possibly taken away next year if they improve.
  25. I wouldn't be opposed to grabbing a mid like Sanders (or McKercher if possible) and take Ollie Murphy as a key defensive prospect, assuming O'Sullivan is gone. Think he's got fantastic upside as a 200cm defender. He's skinny so will take more time but I really like how he goes about it, is aggresive and has good disposal from what I've seen.
