  1. While I agree with your post, I also think it acts a driver. "Hey, we're not sure if you'll make it, lets see your drive and prove us wrong".
  2. Nah Pies need their picks for their 2 father sons they want to pick up...
  3. I'd say this is Mahoney doing negotiations really well. Bris probably said to Melb, up your offer cause we have other clubs interested. Mahoney, merely saying, "meh, he's a nice to have, you can keep that toxic captain if you really have other buyers". Leaks something publicly to state we're not interested which is semi true/semi false. Your move Brisbane as to how desperate you are to offload the biggest problem to your culture re build. Come back to us if you want to talk. Melbourne saying...be great if we get him cheap, but we're also non plussed if we don't get him. Just my take....or...we may have never been interested at all.
  4. Neither will sarcasm
  5. Just because I needed to point out how silly these stats are: 2015: With Pedersen - 1 win 7 losses 14% Without Pedersen - 6 wins 15 losses 40% There are just too many variables that impact a game. Which ground, the temperature, the weather, the OPPOSITION, the # of days break, travel factor, injuries players bring in to games, injuries during the game, umpiring decisions. I like the thought process, I just think it's a little too simplistic.
  6. Yeah rumour my mates told me is both have re-signed.
  7. Heard the same from some inner sanctum Essendon mates. 5 year deal apparently.
  8. Wouldn't surprise me if he signs in the next few months and then we use it as a marketing pitch as a season launch to get more members signed up.
  9. I think the topic should be changed from "if" to "when". Or is that sort of optimism frowned upon?
  10. And that time when he hit a target by foot multiple times.
  11. Now I do hope I'm wrong, but reckon TMac is gone now. Of the players we'd want to retain we've pretty much got them all. Vince extended. Jetta. Watts. Kent. Garlett. Those still remaining OOC if I haven't missed anything: Dawes, Trenners, Newton, TMac, OMac, Pedersen, MJones, Terlich, Grimes. With it so deep in the season, there is no way the club wouldn't have given TMac every opportunity to re-sign. Wouldn't surprise me if OMac is gone too.
  12. Think we might knock over 40,000. Got an email asking me to renew my son for $1 for a 3 game membership. My gut feel is that there might be 1000 members who are willing to fork out $1.
  13. I think you'll find he won't get another game like yesterday. Yesterday was his last game for our footy club.
  14. Reality bus for me tells me his papers have been stamped. Optimist in me would love if Roos had worked his magic and really made him earn a recall and has fixed some huge deficiencies in his game. He then comes back into the 22 post bye plays blinder after blinder and cements his spot in best 22. Gets a new 2 year contract on less money and becomes a champion of the club. One can dream right?
  15. Won't lie. Reckon when he does come back whether it be this week or in the future. Might bring a tear to my eye.
  16. So with a LARGE sample size of 5 games. I'm going to make a big call that this guy will be as important as any player going forward. In wins against Collingwood, Tigers and GC, he's had 13, 11, 12 kicks. In losses against North and Saints, he's had 3 and 6 kicks. Wagner is a deadly kick and usually sets up plays coming off half back. My prediction. If he gets 10+ kicks a game and maintains a disposal efficiency of > 75% I think we'll win more than we do lose. I plan on monitoring this and seeing how accurate it is. I think the AFL world is yet to realise how good this kid really is.
  17. I was thinking about how this year is soooo different to previous years. I know it has been spoken about before and in other threads, but I just need to reiterate. How bloody good is it having depth? I've looked at our list based on the 22 last week, reeling off names that weren't in the team that could fill a role is amazing: Lumumba, Salem, Brayshaw, Trengove, Grimes, ANB, Dawes, Dunn, Newton, Melksham, JKH, Vandenberg, MJones, Terlich, OMac, Spencer It was easier to list players that we're not sure on/haven't seen play yet: Weed, Mitch King, Hulett Don't get me wrong, some of those players listed, I can confidently say aren't best 22, but I'm confident now that if one player goes down/misses with a niggle, we have such an array of different players that can fill a role that gives our team a flexibility we haven't seen for...a long long bloody time. Just another supporter that is super happy with where we are and where we are going as a club.
  18. That's all good and well...but we haven't played Sydney, Adelaide, Bulldogs or Hawthorn yet Don't get me wrong, bloody happy the way the team is tracking. But lets see how we hold up against one of those sides.
  19. Not sure if posted, and I guess not a surprise, but confirmed, tracc not playing. Straight from his best mates speaker phone conversation with him
  20. Yeah, just used Wikipedia Totally agree with your point. But was more just trying to make a point that I still think its quite unlikely that we'll ever get to golden point in our lifetime. Maybe once?
  21. So since my OCD kicked in a bit, I should probably use accurate statistics. If we take the history of the VFL/AFL competition, there has been a 305 draws out of 43,600 matches, making it a 0.6% chance of a draw. Multiple this by itself, means the chances of a golden point scenario in an AFL grand final would be 0.004%. And thus...I think we'll be right.
  22. Ummm...lets look at the reality of it getting to a golden point scenario... There have been 3 tied grand finals in 118 GFs. So there is a 2.5% chance it will be tied. Now lets look at the chances it will still be tied after another 10 minutes of play. Although its quite statistically flawed this method, for lack of care, I'll just use the 2.5% we have above. We have a 0.06% chance of it going to a golden point...I think we'll be right. If we see a golden point grand final in our life time, I'll be quite surprised.
  23. lol. When I read the topic title, the first thing I thought of was: "NO! Don't sleep with your relatives"
  24. Fingers crossed we get to wipe out consecutive wins this week...
