  1. Jono O’Rourke Calder Cannons/Vic Metro 21 April 1994 183cm 74kg SMART midfielder has had two years through the AIS-AFL Academy and is considered to be among the top on-ballers heading into this year’s draft. Certainly he will be considered with a high draft pick given he was one of Metro’s best in the 2012 Under 18 Championships. He’s one that is not gun-shy and works into games almost immediately. Highly skilled. From one draft online site. Recruiters bio.
  2. yes agreed. He has the talent to be a star. At pick #13, is a monty. Likely though Josh Caddy to Demons in trade for pick #13.
  3. thanks. Blackwell's ability to get the footy, run with it and dispose of it is AFL standard.
  4. Yes good VFL player in the making. Not quite good enough for AFL. Hope Casey can retain his talent though to build around. May go to suburban footy for $$$
  5. Galea is VFL ... 188cms, HFF size, not quick, good contested mark, good kick, no defensive pressure. pass pass pass
  6. trade rumours are - Demons to look at Josh Caddy from Suns in exchange for pick 13 - Koby Stevens and Chris Knights are on our radar - forget Gysberts to Geelong ... not going anywhere
  7. so Nicholson is back this week ...straight in for me
  8. Nev Jetta is playing for his career. Yes he showed glimpses today, but more is needed. Lacks the pace as a small fwd so needs to be inside mid... and doesn't get the foioty enough. Next 3 weeks will determine if he stays or goes IMO. 50/50 in my mind.
  9. Tough criteria here. Grimes, Trengove, Gysberts, Howe are all "potentials" still as well. Jones, Frawley and Clark are all in the elite/superior range.
  10. His skills are worse than almost every other player on our list. Turnovers are killers
  11. Pick 13 Dayle Gartlett - "Rioli" like small fwd / mid Watch the WAFL highlights round 19 for Swan Districts. Dayle Gartlett is a star. "Rioli" like, and exactly what we need as a skillful small fwd. Say my prayers.
  12. Jack Darling ... what might have been !!!!!!
  13. He has some positives: good mark, physical, good run, punches well but his disposal and decision making must improve. He turnovers the ball fat too much and his decision making can be questioned. He cost us 2 goals agst the Suns and I think 3-4 turnovers agst the Tigers cost us goals directly. He has huge upside and I see him being our FB/CHB in our finals assault in the next few years. We got a good one at #53.
  14. Anthony Tipungwuti is the player to watch from the Power Under 18s. Young fast forward pocket who moved from NT. Likely rookie type if we miss out on Gartlett in the national draft. We need a quick small forward who crumbs and tackles.
  15. Not sure Boak & Higgins would see any benefit in move to MFC. We need to attract fringe players with obvious upside. Toy and Stevens fit into our plans. Trades: Koby Stevens & Josh Toy in Free agent : Travis Cloke Draft: Jimmy Toumpas, Sam Mayes, Dayle Gartlett & Jack Viney Rookie upgrade: Daniel Nicholson backs- Nicholson, Frawley, Garland half backs - Grimes T McDonald Toy centres- Blease J Viney Toumpas half fwd- Sylvia Cloke Howe fwds- Gartlett Clark Jurrah rucks - Jamar Trengove Jones Int - K Stevens, Mayes, Martin, J Mckenzie Emerg: Gysberts, Watts, Tapscott. ,
  16. Agreed. He will have to have one mighty pre-season to ensure he "stays" a listed player. It does take key position/ruck players a few years to develop but he seems to lack the true footy smarts and to use his body. (maybe add to the list of 10 players missed ...Jack Darling, Shaun Atley, Ben Jacobs all were missed here)
  17. AFL Bio on Josh Toy 2011 was a trying first season for highly regarded young defender Josh Toy. Despite a strong start to the season, he was soon pushed back to the reserves. Toy reads the play well extremely off half-back, and has a thumping right boot. The highly talented youngster will benefit from another year of senior football as he fights to earn a regular spot, however Toy’s all-round defensive poise, leadership qualities, strong marking, and powerful tackling will hold him in good stead as his career progresses.
  18. Yes I agree that Andy Otten would be a good tall HBF option. Half back line - Grimes, T Mcd, then ... Otten / Toy
  19. For me its 2 trades 1. Josh Toy for Ricky Petterd + our pick #45 ... a steal !!! 2. Koby Stevens for Cale Morton as a straight swap Then add Toumpas #3, Mayes#4, Gartlett#13, Viney #24f/son & Cloke as a free agent.
  20. update ... Jake Stringer was in the best for Bendigo (vs Geelong) in the VFL senior last week. Played as the 23rd man. If he is fit and firing, he could be the key to our success. This kid has real talent. Picks 3 and 4, Toumpas and Stringer.
  21. demon by 25 points ... if we lose, well how much worse can 2012 get !!
  22. Agreed. Too good for VFL. Could be a good pickup as a rookie in 2012 rookie draft
  23. I like it ... we need more positivity and belief. We will add 3-4 guns and then watch out. This draft and free agency period is CRUCIAL
  24. Fair point. He was a better player than most our team in the Darwin game so give him a miss !!!
