  1. Jesse Hogan (mini draft) for pick 3 Josh Caddy for MFC pick 13 OR < Josh Caddy and Weller for MFC pick 4 > hmmm not sure Koby Stevens for Cale Morton (fringe for fringe) Martin to Pies, Wellingham to Eagles, Jacobs to Dees and pick 17 (from eagles) to Power OR Martin to Pies for pick 19, Jacobs to Dees, pick 19 to Power. Petterd to Suns, Jolly to Crows, Jaensch to Dees Gysberts & pick 45 to Cats for pick 15 Imagine all of this Mini draft - Ins: Hogan (kpf) Trade: In - Caddy (mid), Stevens (mid), Jacobs (quarterback), Jaensch (small fwd), pick 15 Trade: OutOuts: pick 3, pick 13, Morton, Martin, Petted, Gysberts, pick 45. (likely free agent exchanges : in - Pearce (mid) & Byrnes (small fwd) Out – Rivers, Bate & Moloney ) Delist : Bennell, Cook, Jurrah, Bartram Retirement: Brad Green Upgrade: Daniel Nicholson Draft picks: 4 (sam mayes - mid), 15 (Jackson macrae -mid) 25 (jack viney –mid ), 65 (tom lee … Claremont kpf)
  2. I would use "whatever" pick we have to on Jack Viney. He wants to play in red & blue. I agree there has to be some policitical "bluff", but if they do bid, we use pick 3... don't screw around. Hopefully it plays out that GWS and Suns do not go the way of the bid. - Tippett to Suns and Crows get pick 2. Use on Grundy or Toumpas. or - Caddy & Weller to Dees in exchange for pick 4. - GWS get our pick 3 = MFC gets Jesse Hogan and no f/son bid. Use on Grundy or Toumpas. We all win. Why all the bluff. Suns, GWS and Dees should all try to get best deals and raise up the ladder. Sure its competitive but ALL help ourselves as a group agst the Bigger Hawks, Pies, Cats, Eagles etc.
  3. Yes I believe we would have to consider at pick 45 or 65 for Marschall. Not just a good kick. Watch some SANFL highlights and he also can do all the physical stuff of a half back. ( Towers will go top 40 for me, with likely Cats 2nd round pick #35ish looming his likely home. Cats would see him as a perfect running half back).
  4. I think the eagles would be keen to have Wellingham, and he would see the benefit. Collingwood would like Stef Martin. We should not be throwing in too much. Maybe Martin to Pies, Wellingham to Eagles and pick 17 to Dees. With pick 17 I would see if we could get Ben Jacobs back from the Power. He is 20, and would be the perfect left footer quarterback/half back we need. Great skills. Would be a Grant Birchall type.

  6. Josh Caddy and Suns pick 42 TRADE FOR Demons pick 13 and Ricky Petterd. Get the deal done early. Caddy is a 20yo, strong bodied mid, with good pace, long kick & loves a goal and with another pre season will be able to step up our midfield. Add Viney & Caddy & pick 3 and 4 say Toumpas + Mayes or Wines and we have a midfield ... Jones, Trengove, Grimes, Mckenzie, Sylvia, Viney, Caddy, Toumpas, Mayes. Now we are heading in the right direction. Add one or two free agents and bang, we are looking very competitive and on the up.
  7. I spoke to a mate during lunchtime. His 5 comments were: - yes appears Rivers is definitely looking elsewhere and Gysberts likely to find another home in 2013 - Beamer is a big fan amongst the players but Neeld is not a fan and happy to move Beamer on - Grimes is a leader and spoke very very well - the blazers are "rubbish" (maybe the leadership group should be called "prefects" !!!!!!) - Jonesy has a heart the size of Phar Lap
  8. agree 100% ... Otten must be a real TARGET
  9. Jetta goes at it , does n't get it, then has to tackle, that's why he is a good tackler. I am still in doubt over his position (not a small fwd pocket or mid, probably last roll of the dice at back pocket !!) Dunn goes at it, more often than not, he gets it, and then kicks it 50+ metres. Has found a role in the back 6. One of our better players in the 2nd half of the year.
  10. One to look out for in the national draft ... perhaps at pick 45 or 65 for the Dees A good kick - we need a few of these types. And doesn't mind it tough either according to some SA mates. CENTRAL District's Paul Marschall the 20-year-old running defender is attracting the interest of AFL clubs on the back of his pinpoint foot skills. Marschall has played every league game this season and quickly become one of the most accurate field kicks in the competition. Bulldogs coach Roy Laird says Marschall has rarely been beaten this season and is one of the best kicks in his team. "His ball use is the highlight of his game - he's a very good kick," Laird says. "He's been very good for us to this point."
  11. Pearce is a real target for me. Clearly has the skills, pace and goal kicking we need in a midfielder. Agree with a 4 year, $400k a year deal. Would be waiting for Viney, Jones, J Mck (Caddy, Stevens, Wines) to distribute the ball to him. We need more class albeit to compliment the clearances ball winners.
  12. I would see our likely current Key Position fwds as: Mitch Clark, Jack Fitzpatrick and (rookie) Leigh Williams. Very very light on in this area. As 2012 showed with Garland & Rivers in these spots. We need to add minimum 2 key fwds. Trade period options: Adelaide: Shaun Mckernan (22)– 23 games in 4 years (6 in 2012). Very agile tall marking fwd. Behind Tippett & Walker. Brisbane: Aaron Cornelius (22)– given rare chances at Brisbane. 4 years and 22 games (8 in 2012) I rate highly. Tassie boy. West Coast: Quinten Lynch (29) – he would add some grunt and muscle. At 29, may not see us through but a good 3 years ahead and would compliment Clark in the fwd line. Mini draft & draft: WA: Jesse Hogan - 194cms, 91 kgs. Will have 12 mths in VFL, then would be ready to go. Already physically mature build and would have a further 2 AFL pre seaons under his belt. A key to our future. I would target our pick #45 for a Key Young Forward if we were not able to get Hogan or a good trade deal for Mckernan. WA: Brant Colledge was a good performer in the under 18 champs. Moves well, very good mark and goal sense. WA: Tom Lee 194 cms and 94 kgs (21) from Claremont. Good mark, very good kick, ready to go in Round 1 2013. For me, its get 1. target Mckernan, and yes play CHF and its your spot to lose (Cornelius not far behind). and 2. Jesse Hogan as a priority (swap Pick #3 to GWS in mini draft). If Mckernan could not be drawn with a 3-yr deal, for a trade for Pick 45, then prioritise Tom Lee with this pick.
  13. Good call. Swap Smith & Stevens for Morton and pick 45.
  14. What we need : mids, small fwd and tall fwds (we have plenty of tall and mid size backman. Assume around 10 spots to be filled for MFC. Trade and free agent period: I think we have to look at who would want to come to MFC. a). $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ searchers or multi-year contracts B) Players on the fringe. Also good if there is a come home factor. Players like winning and being part of a successful group. If you offer $400k, they will usually stay at their own club for $340-350k. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ searchers or multi-year contracts 1- Saints - Brendan Goddard (27yo) – offer at least 5 years contract as a min.at $1 million at year. This IS value. A star, a leader and a player who takes no backward steps. Unlikely but give it a rip. 2- Suns: Maverick Weller (19yo): rate him very highly. Great ability to get the footy. 3-year, $300k a year contract. He is as good if not better than Scully. 3- Power : Ben Jacobs (20yo.) – great left foot disposal. Had 2 years development. Surely a 3yr deal again at $300K ish would attract. on the fringe: (mids) West Coast: Koby Stevens (21)– tough, great tackler, behind 4-5 in strong Eagles midfield. In 3 years, only 11 games including 4 in 2012. A MUST GET IN MY OPINION. Adelaide: Jarryd Lyons (20)- clean hands, excelling with his in-close work at the stoppages. Behind 6-7 in Crows elite midfield. Two years development and ready to go. A good in/out type mid. Swans: Brett Meredith (23) – highly skilled. Injury riddles. In system now for 5 yrs for 16 games. Swans would entertain a trade for a pick at the 50 ish range to get him home to Melbourne Swans: Jed Lamb (20): super talented. Behind 5-6 in strong Swans midfield. Can play fwd and has elite skills to deliver the footy on the fringe: (small fwd) Cats : Shannon Byrnes (28). Only a handful of games in the last 2 years. He is a skilled small fwd with great goal sense. Not in Chris Scott's plan (IMO) so as a Free agent is definitely looking elsewhere. 2 year deal, plus able to fit into our team and bring finals/premiership/leadership ability. Adelaide: Matthew Jaensch (23)– I have seen him play and he is too good for SANFL but not given chances for Crows. Behind Petrenko, Riley and Callinan (unsure why as Jaensch is a better player) Brisbane: Callum Bartlett (21)– 3 yrs at Brisbane and ready for a crack. Would walk to us if we said we want you. Tough, skilled. Swans: Jared Moore (26) – a pocket rocket. Behind McGlynn and Jetta as small fwd for Swans. Would get as a free agent, delistee or PSD. on the fringe: (tall fwd) Adelaide: Shaun Mckernan (22)– 23 games in 4 years (6 in 2012). Trade / Free agent Objective: get 3 players (one mid, one small fwd, one tall fwd) in trade and free agent window. 1. Weller or Stevens 2. Byrnes or Jaensch 3. Cornelius or Lynch. Mini draft objective: Get "Jesse Hogan" (will be a premier key forward by the age of 21) - swap for pick 3. Safeguard Viney as a 2nd round, pick 25. National Draft 5 list spots available for this draft #4: Wines or Mayes,#13: Kennedy or O'Rourke or Gartlett, #25: Viney (thats 3 further mids), #45: watch for one that slips down the order and #65 ish:Daniel Nicholson upgrade. Pre season draft.: likely one pick here. We would have pick 3 in this draft. So have a good look at the delisted ones. There is always a fringe player who is more than able to turn it around. Tailor again to our needs. We should have added 5 mids, 2 tall fwds, 2 small fwds and a skilled half back type. Rookie draft Target best from VFL/WAFL/SANFL (Mitch Woofindden and Leigh Osborne clearly are my 2 best from the VFL)
  15. I think we need to keep Gysberts for this year. Will a pre season and some improved body shape, he could be a key part of our developing midfield. We have plenty of taller backman options, and Sheahan has come on nicely later in the year. Would be disappointed to see Rivers go, but we could cover.
  16. Aaron has lost the fire inside to be an AFL player. He clearly is not 100% right. Thanks for the memories.
  17. MELBOURNE could be the new home for Essendon utility Angus Monfries. The dangerous small goal shark is a conspicuous absence in recent top signings up at Windy Hill and remains out of contract. It has emerged that Monfries could be headed to the Demons as part of plans from coach Mark Neeld to bolster scoring potential for his struggling unit that won just four games this season. If the highly experienced Bomber doesn’t head for Melbourne and an MCG home, Monfries is also linked in a possible switch to Port Adelaide. Port veteran Danyle Pearce is also understood to be considering a move to Melbourne on an attractive four-year deal. Monfries, 25, is originally from South Australia and a return to his home state is additional lure to a possible switch to Port if Pearce leaves as appears firmly on the cards. The Demons are believed to have secured a handy small forward with crucial opportunist goal kicking as a serious appeal and are waiting for a chance to announce their new signing. Neeld is determined to increase his scoring power in ambitious plans to rapidly rise into finals contention. The Demons averaged just 71.8 points a game in Neeld’s inaugural season, which ranked 15th in the league, while Melbourne leaked 106.4 points a match which was the third biggest in the competition. It is believed early Demons recruiting lures have snared a handy small forward to join in tandem with last year’s boom arrival Mitch Clark.
  18. If Gysberts goes, then Koby Stevens is a must to replace him. Neeld would like Koby's toughness and clearance work.,
  19. we have plenty of tall and mid size backman – and even ruck stocks are OK. WHAT WE NEED 1- an absolute star and leader. : Brendan Goddard 2- mids, mids and mids Free agent / Trade for: Mav Weller (Suns –trade for pick 13), Koby Stevens, Jed Lamb and Brett Meredith (Swans), Jarryd Lyons (crows), Draft: Jack Viney ( a given), plus at least two of these players Jimmy Toumpas, Oliver Wines, Sam Mayes, Ben Kennedy, and Nick Vlastin. 3-small fwds Free agent / Trade for: Shane Savage (hawks), Jared Moore (swans), Callum Bartlett (lions), Matthew Jaensch (crows) Draft: Dayle Gartlett (WA), Chris Yarran (WA, pick 45 ish) 4-tall fwds Free agent / Trade for: Aaron Cornelius (lions), Shaun Mckernan (Crows), Quinten Lynch (eagles) Draft: Mason Shaw (WA), Kristian Jaksch 5- a half back quarterback Free agent / Trade for: Jordan Russell (Blues) Draft: Sam Colquohoun (SA) If we have 10 spots available, I would aim for : Mids x6, Small fwd x2, Tall fwd x1 and Half back quarterback x1
  20. Yes certainly worth a look. Free agent and at 100kg + and a monster kick, hey make a good offer. He has had premiership success so $$$ may talk. Would mean our fwd line "walks tall" with the Q stick around.
  21. What we need : mids, small fwd and tall fwds (we have plenty of tall and mid size backman Therfefore in the Trade and free agent period: I think we have to look at who would want to come to MFC. a). $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ searchers or multi-year contracts B) Players on the fringe. Also good if there is a come home factor. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ searchers or multi-year contracts ****** Saints - Brendan Goddard (27 y.o) – offer at least 5 years contract as a min. at $1 million at year. Great ability to get the footy. 3-year, $300k a year contract. He is as good if not better than Scully. Power : Ben Jacobs (20 y.o) – great left foot disposal. Had 2 years development. Surely a 3yr deal again at $300K ish would attract. on the fringe: (mids) West Coast: Koby Stevens (21 y.o) – tough, great tackler, behind 4-5 in strong Eagles midfield. He is an energetic small fwd with great goal sense. Not in Clarkson’s best 25 and must be looking elsewhere. Good dollars would attract. Adelaide: Matthew Jaensch (23 y.o) – I have seen him play and he is too good for SANFL but not given chances for Crows. Behind Petrenko, Riley and Callinan (unsure why as Jaensch is a better player) Brisbane: Callum Bartlett (21 y.o) - 3 yrs at Brisbane and ready for a crack. Would walk to us if we said we want you. Objective: get 3 players (one mid, one small fwd, one tall fwd) in trade and free agent window. Then target National Draft and Pre season draft. Likely 7 list spots available for this draft. Target best from VFL/WAFL/SANFL for any pick 60+.
  22. Agree. Jordan Russell has good kicking skills and I can see him playing a midfield type role as well. Maybe a wing oir half back. We could do with a "quarter back" type. In fact, if anyone wants to come to MFC, I would welcome them at the moment. WE seem to be slipping into the abyss.
  23. I love the passion. 2012 - 1 win (vs Bombers ) 18 losses. Forget the wins over GWS and the Suns. We are the bottom of the ladder. The Suns and GWS have youngsters and upside. Strategy changes needed. Playng group changes needed. Play for the Red & Blue. ** and yes, I also got lost with "Petterd being on the verge of superstardom" ???????????????
  24. 11 changes for me: gone: Cook, Moloney, Green, Jurrah going: Petterd, Bate, Morton, Bennell, Jetta, Rivers (free agent), Gysberts trade to Geelong That means picks 3,4,13, 17 (Cats pick), 25 (Viney), compo pick 3rd round x2 for Rivers and Moloney and pick 45 = 8 draftees pre season draft #3 one free agent Nicolson as a rookie upgrade = 11 IN.
