Chaser what's your thoughts on Reece Mckenzie, seems to be getting some publicity lately and may be the late bolter in the style of Hill, Watts, Martin, Bontempelli

Agree with you somewhat Dazzle because I have no doubt Roos and the FD are looking to the future, but the if I have is should Hogan be fit and ready to go and add something to our forward structure they may well play him.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BILLY STRETCH
Pennant St Dee replied to e25's topic in Melbourne Demons
If reports on younger players under F/S are true I am going to have a nana nap in season 2016 wake up and think I am still asleep dreaming of the late 80's Viney, Stretch and Lovett. -
HFF for WATTS will work well, when the the two/three best opposition defenders are busy dealing with Dawes, Hogan and on some occassions Gawn will work well once we have some speed and toughness at ground level with rotations from the middle

Fook em rather beat them at full strength, I live and work around those Meth Coast front running supporters and my hatred for them has no end. Take it up to them and make them accountable and they are not that good, their forward line is a nightmare to match up on if you allow them clean use of the ball from midfield but win the midfield battle and clamp down on them, Priddis is going to get his hands on the ball you can't prevent that but he is not their main weapon through the middle. We must prevent Gaff, Shuey and Hurn having time and space, while Jamar and Gawn/Pedersen need to just break even at centre bounces. Do those things and we are halfway there. Easier said than done but it is no secret in how to beat them, they love getting involved in shoot outs but sides who take it up to them with uncompromised footy is not their forte. The game has been sold out for weeks and even if the Bombers beat them this week they will be up for next week treating it like a farewell party for Cox, but there were similar factors facing us with the Hafey and Cassisi games earlier in the season.

Kirk started out as a negating player with on face value not a lot of tools at his disposal, nobody knew away from the inner sanctum of Sydney the leadership qualities he had, Bolton was always a hard at it fanatical ball winner but hardly an out an out Superstar. And Ryan O'Keefe what was he 25/26 before he started to show a lot more than potential with an appetite for hard work. Role players Kirk, Bolton & O'Keefe they all were playing second fiddle to the likes of Schwass, Kelly, Williams,Maxfield & Hall. As they moved on the others progressed from role players to key players and Richards, Malceski, Mcveigh, Jack, Mcglynn, Hanneberry were new role players who have no progressed to Key players with Rampe, Smith, Cunningham etc now role players who will more than likely continue to evolve . It's this continued cycle of continuation and passing on the culture that is the greatest legacy Roos left at Sydney. I agree we need to snag a potential superstar from somewhere (we had Clark but we all know what happened) but for me if Roos can leave us with a legacy of culture like he left at Sydney we will be well on our way to a sustained period of finals contention and possibly more

Well Done Nev always had faith in you and thought you were somewhat unlucky to be delisted last season Good news story for the club and the AFL and a lesson to all about determination, never giving up and the rewards that come when you apply yourself and put the effort in you have

Just found this article in the Irish Independant, apart from referring to us as the Red & Black not a bad piece, where Sam opens up about the last few days of Jim's life and also glad to hear how life is moving on for her http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/sam-stynes-on-death-grief-and-her-new-relationship-30495830.html

Players to target at the end of the year
Pennant St Dee replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
Because as I stated you don't need to use that pick to get Malceski, he is a free agent and there are other options available -
Players to target at the end of the year
Pennant St Dee replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
Wouldn't give up that pick to get Reid & Malceski, Reid & Mitchell yes but not for someone who is getting on and can also be attained via delisted free agent or through PSD with a front end loaded contract given our cap room -
Best place to go for a beer is the Subiaco Football Club Social Club which is on the North Western side of the stadium facing St John of Gods Hospital. Not usually packed out and prices aren't to bad.

Didn't end as you would have liked at the Dees, Beamer but when your entire career as a Demon is weighed up overall you gave plenty of service and I heard your interview on SEN tonight and I thought you showed a lot of class. Enjoy Retirement

Players to target at the end of the year
Pennant St Dee replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
Beat me to it my thoughts exactly, not sure what radio show it was yesterday but a mention was made of Sam Reid slowly being moved out of the Sydney side position wise and takers could be moving behind the scenes. I thought to myself he'd be worth looking at. -
Maybe don't use that word when describing all the indigenous people of this country
-
I'll just say this it was Jurrah taken over Rockliff, I don't care what great and brief performances he did over a short period. It was clearly the wrong pick
-
Oh for god sake , we talk about bad picks and mistakes the club has made in the past. Yes Jurrah was a freak but it was nothing to do with bad luck it was a bad pick plain and simple. Harsh yes maybe but at the end of the day it was Jurrah taken over Rockliff Move on he is not for AFL anymore

Yep I know but points for creativity?

Players to target at the end of the year
Pennant St Dee replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
Only seen Crozier once this year very hard to judge what I call a vanilla footballer, decent accumulator most weeks but you never see anything eyecatching or outstanding. Very robotic in his movements and I suppose when I saw him the bonus was he played a link role through the middle/wing. Never left his opponent more than 5metres away when opposition were in possession, but breaks very quickly to space when the ball is turned over looking for the outlet to rebound. Very well drilled team player who plays to instruction well but totally different player to the natural free flowing player when drafted. Would be a solid player but would not be giving up much for him -
How upset will you be if we finish bottom
Pennant St Dee replied to Pates's topic in Melbourne Demons
Don't worry old I think we will all have forgotten that option by quarter time tomorrow -
The same way numerous Demonlanders have forgotten how much they used to slate Paul Roos in 2012 & 13 when he was commenting on Melbournes list and footy skills. A lot on here seem to have amnesia about their previous thoughts/comments in regard to Roos. I will barrack for anyone who wears the red & blue, leaves nothing on the field and plays like they give a damn
