  1. Remember the slogan of 1987 Do it for Robbie Flower The members slogan for 2015 can be Do it for Old Dee, lets play finals
  2. Yep and word on the street two years ago was Brendan Goddard had signed up as a member at Royal Perth and bought a property in Wembley.
  3. From the boys I have seen at WAFL level Conor Blakely - if available at our second round pick, good solid bodied mid who likes to go in and find the ball, disposal is good Shane Nelson - very light player but great endurance and knows how to find the footy, could be worth a rookie pick Stephen Payne - Mature age player at East Perth (early 20's) has had an excellent year and been their best player in a side loaded with Meth Coast players, probably the best mature age pick available in WA Dylan Winton - defender about 192cm really like his positioning and reading of the play but lacks size to be a KPD, has scope as a 3rd/4th tall similar to Rivers Tyler Keital - going to go in 2nd or 3rd round can play forward or back, knows how to take a mark and was the WA U/18 swing man, is very good down low for a big guy and it is not beyond the realms of possibility that he could develop into a midfield type Tom Shanahan - good skills, good pace off the mark which allows him to create that gap in the race for the ball, very good inside and developed his tackling and goal kicking ability. Adapts to the tempo of the games at the next level fairly quickly, worth a late pick or a rookie at the very least. Clem Smith - just loves the hard staff, some discipline issues which sees him giving away a lot of silly free kicks, but good user of the ball and composed in traffic
  4. Bit hard in the context of the writing, but in the interview it came across that Mitch felt he wasn't helping the club at the time of his decision and he felt it best they move on as he wasn't right healthwise. The way it came across was if he decides to have another crack we will be the first to know
  5. I posted this in another thread last night in regard to Mitch Clark His manager Colin Young was on the radio tonight to respond to the rumours that have been circling Mitch Clark is in Melbourne and has just sold his house The plan was to return to Perth (not for football) but his partner is studying to be a surgeon Categorically put to bed any contact with the WA based clubs Mitch is in good spirits and after spending 6-8 weeks doing nothing thought it was time for him to get fit again, so has been boxing training for a while Melbourne clubs have been in contact with Young asking about Mitch's health and if he will return to football At this stage Clark has no intention of playing AFL footy next year. Young believes if Clark did have thoughts about playing again he would make contact with Melbourne, but he(Young) thinks Melbourne have moved on with their future plans Clark remains in contact with the Demons players and played golf with them recently Young meets with Mitch every 3 weeks and next week is just another meeting Clark still has a manager because he is under contract to Young till October 31st 2014 That is a quick snapshot of what came out of the managers mouth, BUT I IN NO WAY TRUST MANAGERS

  7. The Roos Mantra continues, you put the effort in you get rewarded. Every side has players who can't kick well even the top sides. Yes they have guns who can split the eye of a needle but they are also loaded with hardworkers, for all those bemoaning the kicking of these players Mattner, Rowan Jones, Chad Jones, Mainwaring, Manson,Wallis, Monkhurst, Worsfold, Roberts-Thompson, Hardwick I'm sure there's more given time I could think of who were not great kicks in fact some were bog ordinary but they all did a job for their sides and all are Premiership players
  8. and from memory had a good Brownlow count one year, think both he and Yze were Top 5
  9. Watch Hurleys first year especially the Round 22 game vs Hawks when he stood up as a KPF, watch his last 6 weeks as a key defender Has done more than Watts and has him well and truly covered
  10. Forget Nic Nat Hurley, Hanneberry & Zaharakis would have been the ones in hindsight to set us up with hardness, effort and workrate
  11. This^^^^^^^^ Plenty of clubs have realised the first rounders just aren't up to it and cut their losses, the Hawks also drafted Beau Muston, Meth Coast Sampi, Pies - Egan, Cats - Tenace, Tigers -Tambling/Oakley-Nicholls you just have to make the hard decision
  12. I saw Judd play his one and only WAFL game, would love to see a Dees player do that from the outset
  13. Bit hard to do otherwise considering Mcdonald was off loaded at the end of 2010 and Scully basically played less than a handful of games after 2010. It's not rocket science, other sides have been doing it for years
  14. And they were good alongside the bigger and older mids. Scully and Trenners complimented each other well in 2010. Just playing devils advocate here but would Brayshaw and Petracca blossom with the older wiser heads of Jones, Vince, Cross along with Tyson and Viney with an extra year under their belts. That doesn't take into account Salem, Toump, Trengove and Riley hopefully getting a good run at it through preseason I do hope we have learned from moving Junior on and whilst he was no world beater Maloney took a tag and won a lot of clearances
  15. Not the first time it's happened at Subi and it will continue. Not the reason we lost but 3 frees we should have had for trips, a tackle Josh Hill laid inside 50 dropped down to Jones legs and he ended up being tripped, they scored a goal directly from it, Mckenzie manhandled Dawes in the forward pocket about 12 meters from goal no free paid and they rebounded straight up the other end in what was a 12 point turn around. Wouldn't have changed the result but it certainly needs to be looked at
  16. The boys put the effort in but the turnovers are just killing us, we really struggled once we got to half forward line we stopped/propped and turned it over. I am not as down as I was last season because as slight as it is we have improved. We can find the ball which is something we struggled to do under Neeld so that is a plus Very top heavy and once the ball hit the ground in our forward line we were toast, I gave big Fitzy a vote for effort tonight but sorry if we are being ruthless he is not going to make it, will have the occasional decent game but one of them to say no been to long try something else. Jack Watts must be traded whilst we can still get something for him, he just doesn't have the make up to utilise the tools at his disposal. Garland what has happened to the player of a couple of years ago, really struggling with confidence. So whilst I see improvement still a few tough years ahead
  17. 6. N Jones 5.Vince 4.Cross 3.Bail 2.Tyson 1. Fitzy
  18. It's one of those win wins DemonOx, if it keeps him on board and away from the Hawks/Dockers whilst we rebuild it's a win If he jumps off it comes down from his bedroom wall and goes upstairs to the Bar
  19. I saw the Pies live over here against Meth Coast and they were monstered by the Eagles talls. Fine weather predicted so IMO no real surprise with so many talls named. Concern for me is can Viney run with Priddis/Shuey or Gaff all day. I expect Cross and Jones to get run with roles on two of thse players and Vince or Bail to play as a defensive HF on Hurn. Viney will get one of theleft over mids
  20. As I posted on another thread Jones, Watts, Howe and Gawny have all travelled just saw them having a kick on Langley Park in Perth CBD
  21. Well the boys flew in last night and I just had a quick chat with Nate Jones, who is just out on Langley Park having a kick with Gawny, Watts & Howe. You can see the ground from our building and I grabbed an MFC flag I had and they signed it for my young lad, hopefully that will be another incentive to keep him on board for a few years along with a solid effort on Saturday night
  22. They brought their fookin toys with them. Love that Movie, just wish we played hard like the Charlestown Chiefs
  23. Wonna and LJ were not bad luck they were picks with risks You take them as icing.
  24. On Saturday managed to clear some things and went to the Perth vs East Perth game. The main draft prospect on show was Clem Smith but I have kept an eye on Thomas SHANAHAN since last year and he made his senior debut for East Perth. Both boys were impressive but for different reasons. The game was very physical and there was a large amount of late hits and a fair degree of spite. Clem Smith was very impressive in a severly undermanned side and out of character for him he didn't get drawn into the spite and concetrated on going hard at the ball when the opportunity arose. He was very smooth with the ball in hand and seemed oblivious to pressure, not that he lacked awareness it just did not cause him to get rid of the ball at all costs and cause a turnover. The composure and I would describe it as elite disposal was very much a highlight on a bleak day for the Perth Demons Shanahan came off the bench halfway through the first quarter and for the first few minutes I would say his nerves and enthusiasm had him making several long runs to space or a contest in his attempts to get involved in the action early. As he became acustomed to the tempo he started to read the play much better and after about 10 minutes with Perth attempting to hold possession across half back, Shanahan backed himself left his man and intercepted the defender awaiting a pass on Half back flank, he played on running toward goal and as the defender came to him, I expected him to handball over the top to the forward heading towards the goal square but he calmly slotted from 25m out with his first kick. Shanahan spent the majority of the game at HFF but had stints in the middle and continued to find his own ball. My only mark against him during the game was a willingness to allow the senior players to much respect. This is not a bad thing and showed he was not just looking on building up impressive stats. On several occassions he was the first tackler when senior team mates would come in over the top and once the free was awarded he would allow the senior player to pick up the ball and take the kick. He ended the game with a disposal count which would have been in the high teens and two goals, which could have been at least two more. I saw two direct goals when he handed off to a senior player demanding the ball when he could have easily run on and kicked his own but this will come. Shanahan and Smith went head to head for a short period and Smith tried to unsettle him with some hard body work but he was unfazed and just got on with his game. He probably done enough to hold his place but a lot depends on what the Meth Coast want done with their players. Will be very interested to see if he plays finals how he deals with the lift in intensity but on what I have seen with him Colts to Reserves was an easy transition and he will be right up there in the WAFL ressies B&F and he did not look out of place in his first outing Smith - One of the best displays I have seen from him, a recruiter said to me once, you learn a lot about a player in a weaker team when they are being soundly beaten. As I said above Smith was composed, ball use was elite, all decisions made were good, plenty of 1% efforts, kept his feet in traffic and read the play well. Could have easily thrown the towel in and got involved in the spite but just got on with his own game, if he keeps that up will go in the Top 25
