Melbourne considering shifting its base to MCG
Pennant St Dee replied to M_9's topic in Melbourne Demons
No we are not Meth Coast still don't have their own training base, it's being built soon at Lathlain but they still train at Subiaco oval. They do training at Leederville Oval, Subiaco and also pop up at City Beach Oval which is the home of West Coast Amatuers -
GOODBYE MITCH CLARK
Pennant St Dee replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
Cats biggest missing ingredient since their 3 flags is Brad Ottens, forward ruck, Clark is very valuable to them whilst the Clark & 21 for 13 & 33 seems a stretch I don't think it's inconceivable. He has nominated Geelong but we can always consider trades elsewhere. We do what is best for the club long term -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - ANGUS BRAYSHAW
Pennant St Dee replied to ashdemons22's topic in Melbourne Demons
If I'm Chris Pelchen sell the club to Jaksch if you really want him, he is out of contract and pick him up Pick 1 in PSD if GWS really want Petracca that bad then get someone else with Pick 1. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - ANGUS BRAYSHAW
Pennant St Dee replied to ashdemons22's topic in Melbourne Demons
If Dangerfield chase goes nowhere and we get Pick 3 for Frawley this would see us with Picks 3 & 6. Lot of talk guaranteeing Saints will trade Pick 1 to GWS for their first pick which would be Pick 4. If what you say is correct the draft would be 1) GWS - all pointing to Petracca 2) Dogs - enough good young mids so take who they think is best Mcartin or Wright 3) Dees - time to make the tough call you assume Saints and Brissy are going to take either the left of Mcartin or Wright, Brissy's midfield is okay but Saints need mids as well so do you take Brayshaw here or Mcartin. 4) Saints - if Mcartin and Wright are gone do they see Brayshaw as the best mid because to give up Pick 1 I think they will have gained Jaksch 5) Lions - as it stands but will the Pies have this pick for Beams they need defenders so Durdin could come into play 6) Dees - is Brayshaw still available Big Risk if Brayshaw is the one we want -
2013 the Suns were struggling mid season and everyone was saying GWS would pass them fairly quickly. Things changed when Blighty took more of a hands on mentoring role in the coaches box. 2014 flying high looking certainties to make the 8, their best player goes down and nobody steps up, no tactical change to how they play and a lack of ability to get the players self belief up that they can win without their leader. Bluey is a fantastic guy but just joins the list of many who is made for the assistants job but not the main job. Footy is ruthless and like Mark Harvey, Brett Ratten & Michael Voss when someone of the calibre of Lyon, Malthouse, Roos and now Bomber is around expect clubs to make the big call

Oh well that's a good enough reason to take him, did you watch the 2006 Grand Final when delisted Stevie Armstrong who was a rookie upgrade on the Meth Coast list kicked an opportunist goal from the forward pocket in the late stages. I think we would look at more than 1 GF performance

GOODBYE MITCH CLARK
Pennant St Dee replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
We are not worse than the Premier League. The Premier League has been going 21 years and 5 teams have won it Man Utd, Man City, Blackburn, Chelsea and Arsenal. Chelsea and Man City are that far ahead of the other clubs this year it is not funny. Since the Premier League has been in existence 11 different clubs have won the Premiership with us, Freo and the Saints also making it to the GF. The four champions league spots will be fought out every year by Chelsea, Man City Arsenal, Liverpool and Man United. Compare outside of the 11 AFL Premiership sides Melbourne, Freo, St Kilda, Bulldogs and Richmond have all made the final four at least twice in the same time frame. Everton and Spurs are generally monty's for the Europa League spots leaving hope for 1 minnow to possibly qualify through the group stages after a decent cup run. Every year there is around 12-14 sides with a realistic chance of playing finals Premier League sides have no salary cap - hence the large void in the have's and have nots They have no limit to the size of their squads They have no draft - it is either relegation and financial ruin so put a side together to just stay up rather than build with a chance of making finals and improving over time. So whilst I don't like the way the AFL is headed we are a long way off the Premier League scenario. I am aware we have been shocking for the majority of the last 8 years, a lot of it is self inflicted and whilst the new expansion clubs and free agency came in at a terrible time for us we put ourselves in that position and should have been well down the track with our rebuild, but we made such a mess of it we had to start again at the worst possible time. I like the stability of PJ and Roos and certainly feel better than I did 12 to 18 months ago -
Not to mention a decent young forward from WAFL club Claremont's colts you may have heard of him Nat Fyfe

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HERITIER LUMUMBA
Pennant St Dee replied to Moonshadow's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'll put my hand up as one who didn't want him, have concerns about causing dressing room unrest, but he has upside and is improvement on Terlich, Strauss and Grimes off HBF. In Roos I trust as a coach who has the ability to appease players from varying backgrounds with varying character traits and get them to gel. I'm pleased an AA has nominated us as his club of choice, anyone who wants to wear the red and blue is someone I'm prepared to give a go, so if the deal gets done welcome aboard H -
Yep that will work when we go looking for the space when Hogan , Tyson and other developing players need to be renewed and other clubs come knocking

How important is the resurgence of Trengove?
Pennant St Dee replied to P-man's topic in Melbourne Demons
The foot injury this year, he carried it last year, so I would say it is certainly responsible for his 2013 form -
and that goes to show you how reliable Facebook trade talk is, Demonlands resident ar$eclown is posting stuff on there re trades.

Well done Matt Priddis reward for effort and perseverance. Also the first ever Brownlow medallist from the Sorrento Duncraig Junior Football Club where my boys play.
-
seriously are going out of your way to be Demonlands biggest [censored]

Pace is okay in the open but nothing exceptional, think along the lines of a Keiran Jack, Hannebery type who just have the workrate. Just not sure he can reach their ceiling
-
I really like Josh for his work rate and attitude, came from the club where my boys play only issue is he is very vanilla, no acceleration and disposal/decision making is average to good and will never be a big bodied mid. There are a lot of Josh Deluca's out there but given his attitude and desire to work hard, could be worth a rookie spot, Deluca is the type of player who does 2 to 3 years on the Sydney list starts playing regular footy and people ask where did they pluck this kid from

Good to see Mitch Jensen the brother of former Essendon player Andrew Welsh winning a flag in his first VFL season. and Lim Jong is the second Korean to play AFL believe it or not Peter Bell was the first

GOODBYE MITCH CLARK

I agree with your previous post about refusing to give in to what he or the Pies want. Unless of course they give us a good trade. That will show we have a backbone -
Umpires influenced by Crowd
Pennant St Dee replied to Jumping Jack Clennett's topic in Melbourne Demons
Stevic was not just hopeless he was a disgrace and should be told by the AFL he isn't getting a start next week because of todays performance. He was responsible today for the two soft frees to the Hawks in the second the controlling umpire within 10m of the play in the third when Wingard was grabbed around the shoulder and when Gray was grabbed without the ball. Then to top it off he makes that final decision and says you dived on the ball when the Port player clearly picked the ball up kept his feet and tried to bullock his way through he was grabbed immediately and tackled to the ground with Hodge ending up on his back. Ball up was the right call -
You've never played at a decent level have you
-
I really don't give a siht what ideas you come up with We generally get the two best sides over the year who end up in the GF and the side who peaks at the right time in September generally win The Lions were masters at it the Swans 05, Hawks 08 and Cats 11 did it and that's how the system works. You keep coming up with ridiculous formulas it wont change The Cats and Freo were cooked North got the Cats at the right time and met the best side for the year last night. Port were brave but paid for inaccuracy if you don't like what has occurred this finals series you're watching the wrong game

GOODBYE MITCH CLARK
Pennant St Dee replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
Having depression doesn't give you the right to be immoral. Change of environment my arse he's moving a couple of hundred metres and still doing exactly the same job. IMO the club makes a stand and either trades him to the highest bidder or sends him to the draft. -
Lets be more specific, Jon Ralph believes the Saints will take Petracca. Ffs people this is how rumours start when what was actually said is not reported correctly
-
That's is carp. FMD one of the reasons the finals needs a restructure is because the home side with a week off and 6 goals up early in the third term couldn't win once a side with the best midfield in the comp and 3 once in a generation midfielders started to get on top and ran over the top of them Yes great logic in your argument. Lets just leave the finals alone there are far bigger issues in the game.
