Really the first trade only happened yesterday with O'Rourke, so don't think Roos and the MFC are Robinson Crusoe here What did you expect Treloar, Danger and Shiel all signed up on Tuesday First week is all about clubs sounding each other out, same happened last year, once the Beams deal does or does not happen, Clark & Lumumba deals go through and soemthing happens re Griffen things will start to fall into place

Michael Apeness is going to be a good forward and will take a little bit more time, Mcartin and Wright don't offer Freo what they want. Dockers are sitting quiet and don't really have a lot to give after a howler of a choice two years ago to take Simpson when Grundy was there to groom after Sandialnds moves on. I have heard they are quite keen on Sam Reid Meth Coast certainly don't need forwards and the word from them is they are happy to head to the draft and get some leg speed, so pencil in Pickett if Adelaide don't take him

Brendan McCartney no longer coach of the Doggies
Pennant St Dee replied to beelzebub's topic in Melbourne Demons
And you forgot to mention the importance those people placed upon Powerpoint presentation as a tool for judging coaching canditates -
Have to say with Garlett, Lumumba ?, Frost? coming in and the senior players we recruited last year, unless we can nab a Treloar/Shiel or Danger with one of Picks 2 or 3 I am leaning more towards taking the two picks to the draft taking two mids out of Petracca/Brayshaw/Lever and building for the future. For those saying this club can't wait two years I agree we can't have another two years of 4 wins but we have a new FD now and an 8 win and being very competative is an improvement, we need to look long term at what we are trying to build, Roos and the FD were very succesful last season in bringing in some older players whilst also taking some young players through the draft. Be like Hawthorn build the list through the draft picking up some senior bodied players as you go and then when your window opens go for the top ups via FA

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SAM FROST
Pennant St Dee replied to Gipsy Danger's topic in Melbourne Demons
Everybody has a price, Shiel for Griffen, is Shiel likely to head back to Victoria at the end of 2015, but if he is untradeable that's fine Treloar in his place will be fine by me -
Outs from 2014 list Clark, Frawley, Byrnes, Clisby & Nicho Ins: Stretch, Garlett, Pick 2, Pick 3 & Pick 23 it will be used for a player through the draft or trade Into the equation: 5 out and as per above 5 in, Lumumba being talked as a done deal so there is another 1, not to mention Frost, so I would assume at least 2 more delistings Also to be considered if Pick 2 or 3 is traded it could possibly be for another two on the list either straight swap for players or a player and another pick Anywhere around 8-10 changes on our list is possible I think next week unless traded Strauss, Blease and Tappy will be delisted and not sure on other players contract situations but Mckenzie, Evans and Matt Jones could find themselves under the microscope

I think you'll find players from the Pies and Dogs don't all live in Collingwood and Footscray. Footy is like all other jobs (unless you're on a mining sight) you don't have to live where you work

Can't see GWS giving up Pick 4 and effectively Jaksch and Wiley for Griffen, who whilst being a great players is aging and has back issues. Gubby Allen whilst being no favourite of mine is no dummy and will give up good players to get what he sees a as a jet (Tyson to get Kelly) he would be hearing the same alarm bells I am with an aging star having back issues I think a more likley scenario to above would be a gun young player and pick 19 or pick 7 and a decent young player for Griffen

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JEFF GARLETT
Pennant St Dee replied to Demon3's topic in Melbourne Demons
Lets not hold that against him can't have everything Cmon the Cardies Welcome aboard Jeffy -
If Danger is reading Demonland he is better than a 50/50 chance
-
Why would you do that, you will get one of them in the PSD if you convince them to come so effectively you are giving up a top 3 Pick and our second round pick for 2 players who are not regulars Pick 3 should give you a Shiel or Trelaor and something else down the order, other clubs like the Dogs can give us Pick 6 and a player for that Pick
-
Well if we don't get him it's not the end of the world, plenty more fish in the sea. Trust the new recruiting department, Jason Tailor will know what he's doing and the club will be angling at something

You can't just isolate the defence when comparing the two sides, Hawthorn are well drilled and play as a unit across the ground with Hodgey playing a floating role in front of the defence, Burgoyne running off half back and Gunstan/Hale dropping back as lose men when the need arises. If you want to talk one on one Garland Dunn and Mcdonald are all better players than Spangher and Schoenmakers, who would look horrific in our defence. Those three would fit easily into the Hawthorn backline and play their role surrounded by the other better players. In regard to Hawthorn needing Frawley, they have planned ahead as good clubs do on a continual basis. The Hawks have taken Frawley when the opportunity arose where they would not have to give anything up. Frawley is the long term replacement for Lake.

Philip Walsh is a very smart footy brain and was the main man behind the Meth Coast revival in 2011/12. He initiated their change in game plan and their forward press. Woosha lacked a fair bit of tactical nous but was a great motivator, Walsh was the brains in the operation

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JEFF GARLETT
Pennant St Dee replied to Demon3's topic in Melbourne Demons
Don't think so the Jetta's are from Bunbury way, think Jeff may be related to Des Headland. A cousin of mine is married into the Headland family and am pretty sure the Garlett's and Headlands are related -
Agreed I would actually give up Pick 2 and even 23 for Treloar and Shiel, that way we would almost give them Petracca. Whilst giving up two picks in the top 25 we still get a Brayshaw and Stretch for development and would pick up two young guns. Don't think GWS would do it but what is Petracca worth to them

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HERITIER LUMUMBA
Pennant St Dee replied to Moonshadow's topic in Melbourne Demons
Pies have said they think it's best that Lumumba moves on for both parties, they have made their decision and whilst they wont off load him for nothing they really can't justify now asking for a high pick "I think when you go through those times ... I mean I had to work out – H and I both had to work out – if we thought that we had a relationship that could continue," Buckley said earlier this year. A year on, Buckley has decided that the contracted premiership player should look at his options to play elsewhere next year Read more: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/no-slur-link-to-heritier-lumumbas-move-20140909-10eodl.html#ixzz3FRJWjvLp -

The Pies want to wipe their hands of Lamumba, Pick 23 is way overs -
Frawley was in talks with Freo Frawley was in talks with Geelong Clark was in talks with Collingwood Ryder was in talks with Brisbane It happens and aint definitive

Not really before Ablett went down they were looking certainties for Finals and Top 6. The AFL will pay for a good quality coach and bankroll an increase in the footy department. Sydney were only prepared to give him 2. If the Suns keep tracking the way the scribes believe they are headed then he may be there for a flag tilt in 3 years

Pick 3 Compensation Confirmed for Frawley
Pennant St Dee replied to SaberFang's topic in Melbourne Demons
The media, seriously they are 90% incompetent fools, quality journalists are few and far between and as I said Freo were offering massive dollars, which I know from outside the media to get him to move, Vic clubs didn't have to match that offer for him to stay home but they certainly had to go up to and above the $500k per season and give him a decent length of contract.
