Why can't we do both
-
1.Dawes - if Dawes gets back to his 2010/11 form he will take a weight off Hogan's shoulders and bring the likes of Garlett/JKH into the game 2.TMac - take the next step and along with Dawes two massive bookends sorted which helps us developing as a team 3. Jamar/Gawn - if Jamar can continue like he started last season (he is looking fit) and Gawn stays fit and steps up we will have a very good advantage with the sides from 7-14 and be keeping up with the powerhouses of the league in having a 1-2 tandem in the ruck/resting forward 4. Garlett - if Dawes, Hoges and the third tall create decent contests having a small crumbing forward being able to kick 40+ goals will take us to a place we haven't been since the early noughties 5.Tyson - he will be targetted more and I think he is good enough to deal with it, and if he continues to progress as he has this kid could be another Simon Black I will not put any pressure on Hogan if he just does his job, without being teh new Carey as some expect of a first year player, with Dawes hopefully getting back to his best and having a great year our forward line will function very effectively Toumpas, Viney, Frost, Kent, JKH, Petracca, Newton, Jetta and other developing players don't need to be in our best 5 they just need to maintain good consistent footy showing improvement and an upward curve for us to be a good side. Jones, Vince, Cross, Lumumba and I would even say Dunn well you know what you are going to get with them solid efforts and AFL standard week in week out

15mins for 3km is a shocking time for an AFL player and even a 12min 3km for a full time athlete would be very much frowned upon. The elite runners at AFL level should be going around the 3 min km pace and even under but on average I would expecting playes at this level to be running at 3.30-3.45 per km pace -
Talking Point: Improvement - how far can we go in 2015?

BBO they may have told you that but it wasn't true -
I'm sorry Ethan but Red Death and Swan never have and never will taste good. Now a few Nice bottles of Redback and or Little Creatures under the patio whilst cooking a BBQ makes for a nice evening during the summer months

Talking Point: An uncompromised fixture
Pennant St Dee replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
What happens if only percentage seperates the teams sitting 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th on the ladder. The teams sitting 5th and 6th would have a tougher finish to the season and may end up only winning 1 more game and as a result the teams 7th and 8th could be playing sides who are not as good and win nearly all their games, End result in effect you could have a side who was 8th have five very winnable games, winning them all and jump into the top 4 as the result of a favoured fixture. Option 1: Just play 17 games and obviously reverse the home and away the following season Option 2: Continue playing 22 H & A games perseason, but the fixture just continues to roll through over the years so it would put an end to the guarantee of Pies, Blues, Bombers, Tigers, Hawks and Cats playing each other twice every season and could end up with seasons where there is only 1 derby. The AFL would never go for this but it ends up over the period of time being the fairest system in a 22 game season, whilst allowing the AFL to be flexible enough with fixturing to maintain ANZAC Day, Easter Monday, Queens Birthday & Dreamtime at the G Option 3: Contine with the current system. -

How many Aussie kids make it out of those who enter the draft? I think the ratio of failure is close to equal -
No not quite he played a few cameo roles through the year but came in again late in the season and played well enough to cement his spot for the finals. They didn't flirt with their form and at that time being minus Sampi & Matera from 05 they were not strong with guys able to play as a small forward outside of the resting Cousins/Kerr. Right place right time for Army, really good footy story because he is a hell of a nice guy

Nick Maxwell is to be admired not naturally gifted but a true leader and got the absolute best and more out of himself and if you think those are the only two you are sadly mistaken David Hynes,Steve Armstrong, Chad Rintoul, Rohan Jones, Ryan Turnbull & Ash Hanson all were surrounded by quality players at the right time in Meth Coast Premiership Sides Stuart Anderson won a flag at North and I saw him when he came to Freo really lucky in 1996 as was Capuano in 1999 along with Cam Mooney who somewhat redeemed himself at the Cats The Crows won flags with sides having Shane Ellen and Chad Rintoul Gary Moorcroft was part of the all conquering Bombers 2000 side Richard Hadley played less than 10 AFL games when he won a flag with the Lions I could go back further but I think I have made my point

Robbie, Jimmy, Jones and Roos yes, the others need to reach the heights of the others before getting on the banner

Last session for the year and all looking positive so far, big thanks to Saty, RPFC, George on the outer and all other Deelanders for keeping us interstate members/supporters up to date through 2014. Hope all Dees fans have a Merry Christmas and may 2015 be kinder to all of us -
I agree with the sentiment of Robbie till Round 1, but believe Jonesy deserves his spot up there. He has earned it
-
Was never in doubt, only to the large group of "Wo is me handwringing MFC supporters" what this proves is As you say Jones is a born leader and a different beast to Frawley Loyalty is not dead in football Demonland has a number of supporters for whom no instant news means the sky is falling, who need to have a good look at themselves Jonesy is a champion despite possibly ending his career without a Premiership medallion The phrase Premiership player is possibly the most overated in football, sure we all want to win one but timing is everything and it doesn't lessen your impact on the game in any way Jonesy can honestly say he bleeds red and blue.

March 5th I think we are playing Freo at Fremantle Oval in the NAB Challenge -
B. Jetta Frost Garland HB.Dunn Tmac Lumumba C. Vince Tyson Howe HF.Kent Dawes Watts F. Garlett Hogan Bail R. Jamar Jones.N Viney I/C. Cross,Newton,Pedersen Sub. Petracca Dawes misses Round 1 so Gawny or Fitz come in. Pedersen gets the nod as pinch hitting ruckman and on 2014 form. Toumpas Salem JKH all pushing as well by mid season Crossy may well be passed by the younger brigade. Bail is the best tagging forward we have and is very disciplined so gets the nod over JKH

2015 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Pennant St Dee replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Wouldn't let the shortage of ruckman in the 2015 draft this far out bother me or even in 12 months time if there is a perceived lack of ruck stocks Darren Jolly, Dean Cox, Aaron Sandilands, Ivan Maric, Sam Jacobs, Shane Mumford and Mike Pyke have all been significant contributors to their sides over the last 15 years. There will always be ruckman popping up. -
What win will be your favourite??

2015 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Pennant St Dee replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Greg Clarke the one to watch from WA underager in the U/18 championships this year playing across Half Back. Smooth mover and was given the occassional run in the Subiaco Colts (coached by Stevie Armstrong) through the midfield and showed a bit. Will be very interested to see what they do with him this season. He will be drafted just a matter of where he goes another Northern Suburbs boy from the Sorrento-Duncraig production line -

A List Overview Ahead of the Rookie Draft
Pennant St Dee replied to ChaserJ's topic in Melbourne Demons
Nice work as always Chaser, wouldn't mind Hammelmen & Capiron. Keital an outside chance but is currently way off on his time trials. Eddy may also be worth a look to see if his SANFL form can be transferred as a fallback third tall option should injury strike any of our forwards -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRISTIAN PETRACCA

But everybody thought it was a great idea at play-lunch -
I thought so but I understand he was back at East Perth last week and didn't exactly set the world on fire. Tyler is very athletic but there is a question on his tank. I understand his time trial time last week was well below what they would be expecting. I think he may well have been given a fair serve by the coaching staff. The choice is his now. Undoubted potential but as the great RDB says that only gets you so far.
