Demonland Player of the Year - Round 18
Pennant St Dee replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
6. Hibberd outstanding and just so calm. Never gives up on a contest 5. Jetta as anove almost an AA lock as a small defender. 4. Oliver another solid 4 quarter effort stood up when they came at us in the second half 3. Hogan presrnted as a target all day and whilst marks were down he always brought the ball to ground and also gave 2nd efforts 2. Omac good one on one against stronger opponent. Needs to work on spoils to centre corridor but developing week by week 1. Tmac very important as forward target when the game was on the line. Created problems for their defenders with his flexibility Apologies to Viney for firts half effort and Lewis for calmness and leadership throughout -

Good. I want nothing from anybody our destiny is in our own hands. If we're good enough and get a decent injury run from here we make it. If not it burns within. You can already see tje culture and mindset change. We are starting to be disliked and I like it.

Demonland Player of the Year - Round 17
Pennant St Dee replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
6. Lewis - stood up in trying conditions and was composed 5. Hunt - worked hard all night and will be great when he gets more composed delivering inside 50 4. Oliver - started slowly but once he got his hands dirty was one of the main reasons we got back into it 3. Vince - 1 brain fade which will hurt us next week but given 1 job to do and did it convincingly 2. Melksham - worked his arse off and rewarded for his efforts 1. Nibbler & Trac - both were factors 1 for sheer effort and contested work and the other for showing smarts, standing up physically in the contest and not panicking under pressure. -
Christian Petracca - Under The Radar
Pennant St Dee replied to Vogon Poetry's topic in Melbourne Demons
He makes things look easy. I anticipate something beneficial will happen every time he gets the ball. Nibblers mark last week in the last minute was just an example. I was confident when he gathered the ball he would not blaze away and turn it over. I often overlook him in player votes because I just expect it from him. We certainly gained an absolute gun in that draft which after the u18 championships I didn't expect St Kilda to overlook -
Being Relevant Again - What Success Looks Like
Pennant St Dee replied to Lucifers Hero's topic in Melbourne Demons
Remember the G 1987 elimination final against the Roos. Success and finals starved fans savouring the moment. Went there hoping for the boys to have a crack and boy did we exceed my youthful dreams that day -
I'm going from memory here and would assume he nailed Weitering almost instantly and the force of the tackle forced the ball loose. At the time I yelled ball but in hindsight I can play devil's advocate and say No prior opportunity Ball jarred free in tackle No incorrect disposal

2017 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Pennant St Dee replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Ryan - won't makeit at the next level struggles against good close checking defenders Wilson- looks to be really enjoying his footy and is very much one the many in betweeners. Standout at WAFL but not quite up to it at next level. Marsh - the most likely to step up and wouldn't be surprised to see Freo take a punt on him. Other clubs will be weary based on personal issues from previous stint at the Pies Schloithe- has been very impressive at WAFL for a few years now. Very surprised a club hasn't rookied him already. Solid performer but doesn't really have any x factor to his game Meadows - is an interesting one who was a decent back flanker but has worked on his tank. Benefits in the Cardies midfield with Shane Nelson Aaron Black copping the taggers. Very good by foot but would like to see how he deals with a close tag Bolton- accumulator and will always be good at this level. Disposal is really poor and would be a liability at AFL level. Kelly - always been a very talented player but not outstanding at draft age. Questions were there about his hunger and consistency. Has knuckled down over past couple of years and got serious and used his assets to put himself on the radar. He has the most upside but I still worry about long term hunger and commitment at AFL level which is a massive step up. Worth considering as a rookie -
I want a Port win. Yes we'll drop out of the 4 but Meth Coast have a decent run in the next few weeks. Want to control our own destiny and we still have Port to play

Demonland Player of the Year - Round 16

6. Tmac 5. Jetta 4. Oliver 3. Lewis 2. Hibberd 1. Nibbler -
I'm starting to believe that. We wrestled momentum back in the 2nd. We are a totally different side to a few years ago. Nevs contest with Thomas with a minute to go was season defining
-
I hope you're right BB, not confident at all myself. Would be over tbe moon with a 3 to 4 goal win but would be happy to take 3 to 4 point win
-
Cheers D77 much appreciated

Vineys contest with Hurn went unpenalised as it should. Sanity needs to prevail in such circumstances it is after all a contact sport

Lets be honest. Not worthy of a suspension and we'd have a 20 page thread if a Dee got outed for that. FCS some of you are embarrassing and certainly don't watch matches openly

Australian Under 18 Championships 2017
Pennant St Dee replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes Chaser happy with SPP bit not unexpected kid always had that nastibess and manic attack on the footy which along with a strong work ethic was going to take him a long way. Like most states decent batch of players in next season's group. -
Australian Under 18 Championships 2017
Pennant St Dee replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Oscar Allen has been thrown threw the middle a bit with West Perth colts. Be interesting to see what happens now after the champs. He knows how to find the footy and at 191cm I see him as another Fyfe/Cripps type in the making. -
Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Pennant St Dee replied to stevethemanjordan's topic in Melbourne Demons
Don't misquote me I never said I would prefer Tippett to Lever. I was merely saying don't be surprised if he isn't being considered by the FD. They don't just say yeah no Thanks without assessing all pros and cons. A. We could do with some more outside pace to assist Hunt. Think along the Hawks model of Smith and Hill and this can be through the draft. Lever will cost our first rounder and a player or next years first rounder in a good draft B. Again looking forward Weid is progressing and is a couple of years away from a full season of consistent form. Getting another experienced forward in buys him development time in the VFL C. Midfield depth is something we need in 2019 and beyond with Vince Jones and Lewis all going to be either finished or close to it by that stage. Again something we need to do through the draft Let me say again we need to be very careful about paying overs for Lever. Trengove from Port will come cheaper and is versatile. If I'm giving up 2 first rounders and cash its for Josh Kelly over Lever -
Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Pennant St Dee replied to stevethemanjordan's topic in Melbourne Demons
I agree somewhat Wyl but the attack begins with run + quick and good disposal which we have in Salem, Hibberd and Hunt. I like Lever but I am not in the "Just get it done camp" When all fit and firing we play very good team defence and our quick ball movement addresses our lack of genuine pace through the middle. If we chase Lever we need to be weary of the cost in terms of picks. Pretty confident the FD will ne well down the road of planning for next season. I wouldn't be surprised if we were one of the clubs looking at Tippett at the right price in terms of Sydney paying a good part of his salary and being desperate enough to off load him to let him go cheaply enough. Many demonlanders will say no but he would be good as a forward option to assist Hoges. I don't think it will happen but I would assume it's been looked at -
So far my top 5, but I think Hibbo will win it by seasons end 1. Oliver 2. Hibberd 3. Tmac 4. Jetta 5. Garlett Watts would be right up there till he got injured and Viney and Jones also will be in Top 10

I wish Moonshadow I'd won 3 Brownlows with that sort of pre requisite and I don't think I'd be alone

I have held back on this but now it's done. I will say it is the right outcome and I hate Meth Coast more than anything. It was a glancing blow and Clarrie exaggerated the contact and it isn't the first time he has exaggerated contact. I love him as a player and he's a gun and only going to get better. I hope he learns from this and we move on. He's been under intense scrutiny this week like never before and I hope it doesn't impact on Friday night. If the roles were reversed I would have been livid. Schofields acyions were unnecessary and so was Clarries. Time to focus on Friday night
