Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
That's where we differ then. I don't think he is just a solid defender. If we went to the draft and took a guy as good as Lever with pick 10 then you would be over the moon. Well... I would be. That's why I think it will cost more than pick 10. History of Pick 10 2000 - Jordan McMahon, Western Bulldogs. 2001 - Sam Power, Western Bulldogs. 2002 - Jason Laycock, Essendon. 2003 - Ryley Dunn ,Fremantle. 2004 - Chris Egan, Collingwood. 2005 - Marcus Drum, Fremantle. 2006 - Nathan Brown, Collingwood. 2007 - Patrick Dangerfield, Adelaide. 2008 - Phil Davis, Adelaide. 2009 - Jake Melksham, Essendon. 2010 - Daniel Gorringe, Gold Coast. 2011 - Toby Greene, GWS. 2012 - Joe Daniher, Essendon. (Father Son) 2013 - Nathan Freeman, Collingwood. 2014 - Nakia Cockatoo, Geelong. 2015 - Harry McKay, Carlton. 2016 - Jack Bowes, Gold Coast. 4 players from 16 years that I would be happy with. 1 of them was a father son.

Pick 10 won't be enough. Dreaming if you think it will be.

Josh Kelly
There were rumours after the draft that pies were into him. Either last year or this year there was a feature article on him and it confirmed it. It didnt say when the pies were going to take him.

Pies where into him.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Yes. If a trade breaks down, the player has a few options. (With examples) 1. National Draft. (Luke Ball to Collingwood) 2. Pre Season Draft. (Nick Stevens to Carlton) 3. Sign with current club. (Dustin Martin potential move to GWS) 4. Delisted / Retire. Mal Michael retired and was then drafted in the preseason draft by Essendon. This resulted in Brisbane being shafted without any compensation. Pretty sure the delisted free agency rules were written with this in mind and the player cannot be signed as a free agent if there was a contract offered by the current club. Happy to be proven wrong on the last point.

The Importance of Jordan Lewis
Jones, Vince, Lewis, Garlett, Melkshem and Hibberd have all played in at least 1 final.

I feel like this should carry some weight, but I can't remember a time that Barrett was ever correct about these sort of things.

Were you talking to me? I can't work out who you are responding to.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
I think it would be similar to the Treloar deal. We pay: 1st round, 4th round, 2018 1st round. We get: Lever, 2nd round pick.

Jeff 'Wiz' Farmer
Has his family moved with him? He wants Kobe to play for the Dee's, so as Dazzle says... the timing is interesting. He is a great dad and would do anything for his boys.

Is it confirmed that it's home sickness? The announcement that he was returning home to Victoria indefinitely from Freo only mentioned that he was returning for personal reasons and would not comment further. Without a doubt I would pick him up for a fourth rounder if it was just home sickness.

Zak Jones
Well there you go! It looks like I was missing something. Just goes to show that you can improve on goal kicking if you spend enough time on it. I saw him in the preseason miss a few gimmes and presumed he was still missing the easy ones.

Casboult? Am I missing something here? (Pun intended) If we get Motlop as a free agent I would say yes. Has speed and can rotate through the outside miss and forward line. Can go missing but I would take the risk for a free agent.

Dom Tyson
Personally I had the same doubts last year. He was easily the least effective of our inside mids and is unable to play a different role. Then he came into form and dominated towards the end of the year and I ate humble pie. He even got a couple of brownlow votes in there somewhere. I'm not ready to write him off again just yet.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MICHAEL HIBBERD
1st game for the club and it was a ripper! 18 kicks, 9 handballs, 6 marks and a brilliant goal. Arguably our best player. He owns the hbf position now. Just what we needed.

The Petracca v McCartin debate reprised
Gotta admit, I loved it when he posted on here and kept us informed. As for CC or BP? CC by a long way. People are quick to remember the bad picks but he had some good ones too with the picks at his disposal.

2017 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
The joy of Hawthorn finishing last, going through a year of pain and not receiving a first or second round pick far outweighs a rival receiving said picks.

Anyone want to have a crack at what Lewis is thinking in this clip? 'Sweet Jesus, I'm in!'

I assume he will be training as a defender? Very happy for him.

Was he invited to the combine?

The whole article is aimed as a light joke. However, it does raise the subject: Should we trade JKH? He has another year to run on his contract, but he will be behind Garrett, Kent, BenKen and probably Harmes too. Let alone the other guys we can play at half forward like Petracca, Bradshaw, Vdb. He really will be a surplus and would slot well into Carlton's rebuild. Would it be better for him? I don't think we would get much for him. Third rounder for a straight swap. He could be the steak knives in a bigger deal.
