  1. Ah the old predictive trip up. And it's supposed to be helping us! ?
  2. Sorry OD i can't decide whether you are saying we are suffering from some sort of indegestion or we were suffering and should now be feeling better, having passed a motion of some sort? If it's the latter i must have missed something!
  3. I think the lack of initial speed has him thinking he is about to be tackled when escaping congestion. The ball just goes straight to boot (panic perceived pressure bail out) and he kicks as long as he can (usually a high looping bomb) into the 50. Exactly the sort of kick you don't want coming inside 50 against the Eagles (and many others when playing a spare etc). He wasn't alone here either. Did Goody & Co. and our leaders (Viney/Jones) learn nothing from the successful Port chaos method, using quick tumble punts or long flat kicks, coming inside 50? If there was an award for the dumbest club each week there wouldn't be much room left in the display cabinet i reckon and that's just this season! The method was right in front of us merely a few weeks ago and we still ignored it.
  4. Exactly! You need players in this possi who can quickly assess and roll inside for the quick kick inside 50 and with a reasonably accurate kick to advantage. Stretch is a 'teaser' player who holds up play too long to assess and by that stage most options down field have been covered by the opp. He also tends to dish off too short too often to lateral targets who are in a no better position forward, again results in a delay getting the ball inside 50. Better to play him off the bench switching with Tracc for his breather and when a slow play is needed (well in front or looking to ice a quarter or slow the opp on a roll). Salem and Petracca are a must this week on both wings. Both love to play on. Salem nice on the short medium kicks to a more shallow lead and Tracc to go longer to the likes of big Pruess/Maxy and hopefully Jeffy out the back on some fast sling shot breaks! This also removes Tracc from worrying about shots closer to goal and he just might be able to snag one or two from around the paint where he has no choice but to kick through it from a set shot or no time to think about it on the run.
  5. You have my vote Trigon. It's time to target scummy Mummy. His main objective this week will be to take Gawn out and Mummy is the best at disguising these veiled attempts as "Oh sorry about that ...I'm just so big and clumsy!" and getting away with it. And we've all seen how much protection big Maxy has received this year from the umps....a big fact naDa, zero, ZILCH!! Pruess is a must addition to get stuck into Mummy early and soften him up. Max up forward until Pruess has had a good go for a quarter or two then Maxy for the remainder. What goes around comes around and Maxy's been on the receiving end of plenty of sniping so far this year. Mummy is the best at it (sniping) around congestion. Time to protect Maxy and dish it out the other way, playing within the rules but pushing the envelope. This will also be something out of left field that i doubt GWS will be expecting. Time to get anti social and let loose the hounds from hell ! ...
  6. This was one out of the box IMO DV. I didn't see any malice or intent to 'hurt bull Smith from Jetta. However he did have a choice after pinning his arms not to bring him to ground. Intent or otherwise it was clearly a dangerous tackle. Under a non-compromised umpiring umbrella, it should have resulted in a free kick and shot at goal for us putting us 2 goals up; OR at the very worst a ball up, a halt in play while Bull was replaced, and the ball being retained in our forward 50 with even numbers around the resulting ball up.
  7. Im certainly not saying you fly the flag with a view to getting yourself suspended either Mega. However, this is sometimes the unintended consequence. And yes i reckon Goody needs to up the ante a little on the anti social. Some ordinary signs have started to slowly creeping in on this side since Roos departed. A competitive edge needs to be imported and imparted as part of the required traits when recruiting.
  8. There is nothing wrong with being fearful of WA umpiring impacting on results Sue. It's a fact and has been that way for over a decade. A minimum 3 to 4 goal advantage needs to be added to their result and work out if you are good enough to win from there for as long as the AFL are happy for it to continue as is. It's no accident that they have such a solid winning record at home vs on the road. Almost impossible to miss finals unless you are fielding a pretty ordinary team.
  9. If you are happy for us to continue to be bullied dazzle that's fine. I would rather fly the flag and cop the one or two weeks IF it comes or maybe a reprimand/fine. A weak response is more likely to breed a weak / selfish club/team culture and end up effecting results regardless of who is in or out. Once players begin to literally see a soft response under similar circumstances to the Maxy incident (or worse) they are more likely to accept that they are not expected to stand up for each other when the going gets tough. Of course the opposite response is more likely to elicit a robust response and expectation going forward, again regardless of who is in the team. Happy to agree to disagree with you on this one.
  10. No need to belt anyone but a show of force was needed Bin. Worst case was a report (one or two weeks max) and a 5 meter penalty. Allowing bullies to bully is not a winning culture and sends a poor message to team mates. And if team mates don't stand up for each other then what will they stand for when the going gets tough?

  12. As far as i have seen it he starts in a HB position and plays that area until we push forward or there's a kick in by the Opp then he slots in as sweeper usually giving the opp a plus one in their defence. Once May returns they might switch Frosty onto a wing for a stint..but who knows.
  13. If we blow finals it wouldn't hurt to trial this once Lever and May return. The weird thing is he is in the top 10 for ground ball gets (i hate that term) inside 50!
  14. I would allege both JJ...the former probably unawares but must have smelled something in the air surely. I doubt Essendrug were the leaders in this field.
  15. 1st part...?? 2nd bit.....Understatement of the year?
  16. Haha...hopefully he brings a bit more than naughtiness DV....and soon!
  17. If he can't find a side step out of traffic he at least needs to work on his burst speed to escape congestion a little more often. That allows a little extra space/time to steady in the last few steps to hit up targets inside 50 or around the arc. Alternatively it allows him to get it out of congestion more cleanly by hand to runners well clear of congestion rather than a few feet away that we see far too often at the mo (not alone here). Slight problem with the handball outside though. We need to find one or two more outside mids to offer some depth with the only genuine options being Salem & Harmes, until Hannan returns. Work on the burst speed first ...then the finish/accuracy. Finishing school required to add a few extra strings to a solid base. Fitness probably impacting in the short term a little.
  18. He made the D'land banner before his first kick in the red and blue DV... that must mean something surely!??

  22. T-Mac had a one off very good year last year in his re-creation from a backman to a 'make do' forward. Hogan often taking the opp's No.1 defender and no 666 allowed T-Mac to roam a little more freely inside 50 and offer himself into a few more open spaces on the lead, usually on the Opps No.2 defender. No Hogan means T-Mac is now getting the opp's No.1 and sometimes even being double teamed with no other genuine key forward at present (the Weid obviously out for now). As a result T_mac's ability to take marks inside 50 has dropped roughly 50% (to be exact 45.8%) so far this season vs his 2018 season average... T-mac Ave marks i50 2018 2019 (to Rnd 9) % diff 2.88 1.56 -45.83% In the short term Pruess needs to come in as support for T-Mac up forward playing deep and as a decent foil relief ruckman for Maxy. This will take an extra tall away from the Opp and potentially stop the opp from sending a chop out to T-Mac so often. IF Pruess can start clunking a few and scoring himself this might also force the opp to send their No.1 defender to him occasionaly, freeing up T-Mac a little more often. In addition we need to have a point of difference for the remainder of the season. No more medium talls like Tim Smith pls. Assuming Pruess comes in (and he should!), it's time to go small and if needed blood small with the likes of Lockhart, Chandler, Bedford working in with Jeffy playing deeper forward to crumb front and square and around the packs for the spills off Pruess & T-Mac. Obviously you wouldn't play both Chander and Bedford together and would only want limited game time from both early on to give them a look/taste of AFL. See how they go before deciding whether to persist or not in the short term or send back to Casey if they don't impact. That's 2019. As for 2020 we need to invest in recruiting a genuine key forward and a genuine small who both know where the goals are, can take regular contested marks inside 50, crumb nicely in the case of the small and are both very accurate. Will have to trade our way out to get these two 'must gets' for 2020! We do this AND recruit a genuine outsider with burst speed, skills and finish (think Balta!) to assist Salem on the other wing....and we have ourselves a shot at the big one folks. Premiership window is open.... time to fix the rot up forward, fill the gaps and snatch our first piece of silverware in a mighty long time and our first in the modern era!
  23. We need at least one or two champions to come from somewhere D11. Maxy, Clarry & Harmes can't be expected to carry the team for the next 3 to 5 years. There is a lack of genuine pace, outside run and finishing skills coming through at Casey right now. Not only that, the general game plan is just a straight ahead kick it long to a contest/bomb into forward line style. Looking a tad like more of the same at senior level but just worse due to the lessor skill set and talent (to be expected) at this level. Where's the link up overlap / outside run and finishing skills in general as well as finish coming inside 50? Guys on a fast break offering leads at the ball carrier under pressure through half forward? Mobility of forwards to work hard on multiple leads in an attempt to shake opponent and present up in space inside 50 as a free option? A couple of smalls showing promise at the drop like Chandler & to a lessor degree Bedford. Any team that has the outside run / carry with half decent skill set plus some decent forwards with a system plus a decent mid field contested team will do well against Casey's present game style and skill set this year IMO and it's already happening. We are decimated with injuries but you can still have those remaining playing to a decent game style that will be reasonably effective even with a stack of outs. It will also reinforce winning ways / methods and practices for those that might show promise and remain on the list for when/if they make it through to senior level. Casey not only has a depth issue (largely through injuries but also outside of that) but it also has a game style / coaching issue IMHO that will not benefit anyone. Including those coming through IF they make it. Game style, run/link up overlap play, foot skills and finish not great at Casey from what I've witnessed this year so far. More chaos, win the contested, barge through, bomb it in and hope for the best.
  24. It was obvious to all on the night and should have been a lay down free kick to Smith. Obvious to all except all four umpires who had vision of the incident. No other players were involved in the play yet no umpire called the dangerous tackle (or at worst a ball up as he had no chance to dispose the ball with both arms clearly pinned)...
