  1. Both Goldsack and Wellingham want to stay at the filth, but it seems one will have to go. The club will decide, and then we'll know who we chase.
  2. I cannot believe some of the unmitigated crap that is written in some these threads. 'Players won't come to Melbourne', 'A graders ...', 'Caddy won't talk to Melb...', etc. It's odd - 2 of my mates are on boards of other clubs, one's the head trainer at another, and one other is involved in player management. They tend to differ with many of the footballing genii on this site. Players usually move for one or more of 5 reasons - more money, more opportunity, going home, unhappiness with the club they're at, and as they get older - success. The MFC (despite what you read on this site, or hear/read from lazy journo's) is seen as an attractive place to come to by many - good coaching, elite facilities, plenty of salary cap room, underdeveloped list, and the only way is up. The club will, unlike some who take a scattergun approach or need a big name to quieten supporter unrest, will approach players who they believe will fit in with their plans and fill the holes that THEY (and not YOU) deem need filling. It is what it is, and the FD are trying to make it better.
  3. Little fish are sweet! Sydney have 12 recycled players, Hawthorn 10. 'nuf said
  4. It will depend on injuries - particularly those occuring during preseason training. With some luck re the above, 8 -10 wins
  5. Not to this supporter who has. I have just watched them all again (a glutton for punishment) and we actually improved markedly over the year. We would have improved even further without the wretched run of injuries. I think future improvement will be exponential. I am buckled in for the ride.
  6. Simon Buckley was selected ahead of him many times. 'nuff said
  7. Oddly enough, Nudge, I've heard much the same about Bate, Byrnes, Karnezis and Casboult. My sources include a couple of recruiters from OTHER clubs who love to gossip about clubs other than theirs.
  8. Cale had his post season review - same as everyone else. The assessment wasn't written for him - hell, I can't even believe it was about him.
  9. Now that my tears have dried, I really wish I hadn't read this thread but the title sucked me in. 2SJ was wonderfully brave and honest and my belated condolences to his family. I lost one of my children, Amy, to cancer on 25Oct06, 3 days shy of her 15th birthday. The memory of her bravery prior to her death is one of the things that keep me breathing. No responses to this PLEASE.
  10. Why all this worry and hand wringing about some probably never to be built stadium? - the negativity of this site is mindblowing. The town planners working for the MCC have not included a new stadium in Docklands in their future planning. Source: a town planner emloyed by the MCC.
  11. The main problem with him is his disposal. He used to turn the ball over regularly and 36% of his turnovers resulted in opposition scores. He has always been basically an outside player, and his highest b&f finish was 6th in his 2nd year. He just got progressively worse. I don't think we need another one paced outside mid with very ordinary disposal.
  12. Byrnes will be 29 in April, is cheap, and will bring very good habits and professionalism into the club. Is worth a punt.
  13. Agree and he will eventually be a midfielder
  14. He was terrific throughout the VFL finals series. Hard, made good decisions and executed them well
  15. Great football brain. Yes please
  16. Figjam anyone?
  17. I've seen him play about 8 games, and still don't know if he's worth chasing. He's shown class, skill, and good decision making at times. He's also shown poor skills and decision making, and a few instances of ball gazing. So he reminds me a lot of a number of our players. Except that he seems more up himself.
  18. Agree. They should have been 10 goals up at half time.
  19. Cameron Ling is the only part of the telecast that is bearable. Turn off the sound, listen to the radio
  20. and we'd have to find a job for his dad!
  21. Bit of a rumour floating in recruiting circles that this bloke wants to come home as well. Source: member of the recruiting staff at another club. Would be a great get.
  22. Small nugget-like? 187cm, 84kg and will 26 in 2013
  23. Jacobs is also adept both inside and out. He can also run.
  24. and delicious
  25. Thommo always said what he thought. His hatred of the AFL and Vlad were a bonus.
