  1. That's not pathetic, that's deluded. Both are stupid extremes that point to people who don't really have a grasp on reality, but at least people who clap the team off the ground will be there next week and the week after that, continue to financially support the club and are not cowardly enough to run away crying when the going gets tough. FFS, what the hell did people expect? That season 2010 will see a magical "win" switch turned on?
  2. Our tall defenders are more than adequate, and Miller would struggle to get a spot down back moreso than he is struggling to keep his spot up forward.
  3. Anyone who felt the need to throw away their scarf after one game in season 2010, needs to reassess their mental strength and their life. Seriously, I can't think of a more pathetic and weak thing you can do as a supporter.
  4. Bit early to tell them that life's a [censored] and then you die... come on, they need to be teenagers going through puberty before they figure that one out! But I actually think that while you have to distract the kids from the fact that we suck, supporting a footy team is a good life lesson, because often in life the things you love the most will end up disappointing or hurting you and you just need to stick it out and have some faith. It's about not giving up when something is too hard. To be honest, it seems a lot of the grown ups around here need to be taught that lesson as well.
  5. I really don't understand what was so bad about Frawley's game. It wasn't his best, but he kept his opponent quiet and made some forward thrusts. In a backline constantly under pressure, he was reliable and strong. Definitely one of our future stars.
  6. Garland not dying would also be the sort of info I'd hope for
  7. If you are on the field, you are fit. It's one story if these guys couldn't physically run the game out, but another altogether that they cruised about making little impact and stuffed up each time they managed to get the ball. As senior players they are expected to lead regardless of how sore their bodies are. If Brad Green can get knocked out and then come back to perform, these guys have no excuse. They were deemed fit to play and while they may not be at their peak, there is no reason not to go hard at the ball and the man. Ever.
  8. That would be an outstanding way to deal with what happened on Saturday IMO. I would love to see Bailey and co. drop some underperforming senior players, who are not helping our cause anyways. Bruce and Miller will be top of the list, but I wouldn't be upset if Davey, Bate and Moloney were dropped either. We can't keep accepting the shocking performances that our senior leaders put in every week. It is completely unacceptable, and worse of all, it is teaching the younger players that there are no consequences for not playing as hard as you can. If ever you were going to make a statement, now is the time. It's not possible that the only players leading from the front on Saturday were those with less than 50 games under their belt... in most cases, less than 10!
  9. The negativity around here is emotionally draining. Freo are not likely to win a flag with the list they currently have, and they won't get a chance to improve that list for a while. So I know where I'd rather be sitting. We finished on the bottom last season and yet people were expecting miracles over the course of a pre-season. Miracles don't happen in footy. Sit and wait and stop obsessing and over analysing every move, kick, handball, quarter, game, loss. It's not going to help anyone.
  10. Martin has to play, because while he may struggle to kick, at least he can present and mark up forward. Sylvia an obvious inclusion if fit. My outs would be Dunn and Miller, because I have given up hope that other senior players like say Bruce, would ever be dropped due to horrendous form.
  11. With the exception of Junior and to a lesser degree Rivers, the only senior leader in the team who we can consistently rely on to put in the effort and lead by example. How he isn't Vice Captain is beyond me.
  12. Now is not the time to be drafting forwards in the twilight of their career. We are in the completely wrong time in our cycle to even contemplate that. Lets get a team together which is mildly competent and then look at filling gaps with established players. At the moment nobody in their right mind would choose to end their career with us, nor will they help us achieve our long term goals.
  13. We are a chance if we find some avenues to goal. If Miller, Ricky, Bate and Greeny can kick 2-3 goals each, we might win, but as has been the story for the last number of years, if we can't even scrape together 10 goals we are no chance.
  14. I can't wait. This is the best part of any footy season, the anticipation you get before the 1st game of the year, before you've suffered any defeats and when somehow everything seems possible. I'll be jumping out of my skin when we walk into the G, because there is nothing better than watching the greatest team in the world, playing the best game in the world on the greatest ground in the world.
  15. And in the opinion of everyone at the football club that matters
  16. If it says not to iron, and you ironed it, you have nothing to complain about. While I haven't seen the tee, I assume the graphics are applied as an attached print, which is tightly applied to the fabric using heat. If you heat up the tee either by putting it in the dryer or ironing it, you will cause the fibres in the fabric to react with the printed graphic and this will create tension that will cause the fabric to shrink. Care labels, believe it or not, are required by law to provide correct information. The tee would have been tested before the label was applied, so you probably should follow the instructions next time. Hope you enjoyed your textile lesson kids!
  17. Such great news!
  18. The number of times during the game I wish it was 2014: 9 The number of insulting texts I'll receive after the game: 10 The number of alcoholic beverages I'll consume to drown the pain of losing: infinite Go Dees! B)
  19. This is what happens when people have been deprived of football and indeed wins for so long. Poor Jack looked like he was about to wee in his pants, he was that nervous. And to be honest, I was more concerned that he used the phrase "yeah nah"
  20. You didn't miss it. Stay tuned.
  21. Footy is more of a religion to most Australians than religion itself.
  22. This means it's time to replace the banner picture with that of multiple premiership cups, or alternatively with pictures of Carlton losing games. Come on Andy, the fate of the MFC and indeed the free world is dependent on you!
  23. I've just realised what the problem is, it's the Demonland banner. Of the 7 players pictured, only 1 is yet to suffer from some type of injury this pre-season. It's the curse of the banner... oh my god!
  24. Mind you, it could make finals more attainable for us
  25. Sylvia was interviewed on Channel 7 news. He seemed quite good for someone who just had his jaw operated on and according to Channel 7 he'll miss a "few games". Nice and vague right there. At least it's not the sort of disastrous injury that sees him missing half a season and plenty of muscle mass and fitness as a result.
