Sarcasm people. Sarcasm!!!!

This post is missing some Jack Viney.

GC vs. GWS next year is going to be the worst game ever. Epic fail galore!
-
CG still have to play Collingwood, Geelong and Hawthorn. There is still a chance! I would be shocked if Collingwood didn't beat them by 150+ plus, and if Buddy doesn't kick 10 against them.
-
I think it was the 2nd worst, and the least expected/explained/acceptable. GC are going to struggle, we know that, Lions are without Brown and are in a full on rebuild mode after ruining their list. Port are the same. I have no reasons to explain logically why we sucked so badly (lost yes, limped onto the field to get smashed, no)!

It literally made me tear up, and then I had to stop myself from spewing. Horrid! Did put my knee injury into perspective. Poor guy, I can't even imagine how many years of rehab he'll need to go through just to get normal mobility back!
-
Makes the most sense out of all other suggestions in this thread. Sadly they won't drop Davey or Green, although both are horrid this season. I'd make Davey a sub though, and swap him with Bennell. Bate will surely get a game given his 6 goal effort, although it wasn't such a dominant performance. I worry about J.Mac, he is prone to too many brain fades, but I want Grimes in the middle so it makes sense to have him play the sweeper role. Unless of course we want to try Petterd down back again. Afterall that is where he started his career.
-
But the awesome thing for us is that the likes of Tom Scully must be watching this game and wondering just how much worse GWS are going to be next season, especially if they don't attract a big name like Ablett (and they probably won't).
-
They beat Brisbane (so did we) and St Kilda (who won one game against Brisbane). They will still get smashed against better opponents. Essendon have been rebuilding for longer than us, as have Carlton, and therefore are 2/3 seasons ahead. They also have much better senior players than we do (Fletcher, Judd etc). We are playing like poo, but on paper we have a better balanced more talented list than Richmond, Essendon and Carlton (ask any Carlton fan and they'll tell you their backline is suspect and their forwards non-existent). The problem is we have average senior players with no leadership skills, and we are currently all at sea with our game plan.

According to Sam Blease's Twitter (being stuck at home on a Saturday night is leading me down some very lame paths! ), he had to go to hospital after the game to get scans and 'can't remember playing'. I assume he was concussed a few moments after Ricky came off with what looked like a knee dislocation. Might explain his crappy game.

Watching the Adelaide vs. St Kilda game tonight unfortunately due to being bed bound, and it appears very obvious that it doesn't matter who plays next week, if we don't pick up our tackling and intensity we'll get smashed. Adelaide are all over St Kilda like a fat kid on a packet of chips. They are relentless in their attack of the ball and pressuring the ball carrier, not to mention that they are dominating the clearances and their tall forwards are getting great service from their midfielders. I smell a thrashing

Thanks for the report, but I have to laugh when you say Warnock is too good for VFL so we should replace him with Frawley next week. Frawley would rip apart every single VFL forward. He had a shocker on Thursday but he ain't getting dropped. He is very rusty after having so much time off with injury, but I'd take him at half fitness over any other defender on our list. Warnock may well get his chance next week but I highly doubt it'll be at the expense of Frawley.

Really surprised with a lack of votes for Bartram. He worked really hard, which is more than about 16 other players can say for themselves.
-
Firstly if that was the first time you noticed Cook it's because you weren't looking hard enough, as he played mostly down back. Secondly when a player is 18, raw and skinny, I look for things like decision making, composure and kicking skills. When a player has been on our list for 7 years and is barely holding on, I can't get impressed anymore by anything less than dominant performances. Yes Newton works hard and his pressure on the ball carrier is good, but he is simply a poorly skilled footballer. He makes ordinary decisions, his kicking and handballing is average and his marking is just OK for someone who is one of the biggest players on the ground. I understand the decision to keep him on the list as an insurance policy given the new sub rule, but I didn't even see him take any rucking contests, so how can we judge him on the role he's most likely to get called up for? Bate, Petterd, Jetta and Maric will be in line for a recall. McDonald only a maybe. But nobody in that list of players actually blew me away with their intensity or their desire to get a game next week. They went through the motions and won out because they are simply much better than their opponent. I thought the guys who won't get a game anytime soon like Howe, Cook, McDonald, Evan and Nicolson were all far more impressive.
-
How are they a class above when they both make basic mistakes, misuse the footy, drop marks and kick poorly? Every mistake a player makes in the VFL is magnified 10 times when they make it at AFL level. When I watch the composure of Cook to turn around and find a man in the forward 50 only for Newton to try and take on 6 players and get caught holding the ball, it makes me wonder how he'll ever make it back to the senior team? And until Bate learns to pick a ball up cleanly off the ground he has no room in our forward line. He is the most vertical player I've ever seen.
-
Petterd yes, Newton no. He works hard but he completely lacks polish even at this level. And it kind of hurts knowing that Martin is playing so well, that we chose to promote Juice ahead of someone like Nicholson or Evans. Bate had a good first quarter, so he might be in contention as well, but given how we played on Thursday I expected the Melbourne listed players to absolutely dominate. Sadly, Maric, Blease, Jetta, Newton and Bate have been just OK given how poor their opposition is. Joel McDonald and Matty Warnock are both doing their job but also lack polish. McDonald can't afford to make such dumb decisions with the footy when he's playing AFL. On a bright note, I know he made some mistakes but I'm super impressed with Tom McDonald. This is the first time I've seen him play since the NAB Cup, and he has a lot of Frawley in him. Looks the goods for the future. And Jeremy Howe's marking is awesome. Also WTF is with Lucas Cook being played down back? I know Casey's forwardline is full of talent (VFL- appropriate talent I should say), but he is our future and it should be a priority to give him game time at CHF.

Dear god. Suck it up. We expect our players to take the punches and bleed for the jumper and you've just packed it in because we lost a game? Come on now, best ever time for a Bex and a lie down son. The sun will come up tomorrow and somewhere in the world kids are dying from starvation and disease. Perspective is everything in life.
-
I hate reactionary garbage on Demonland but this game has really just done it for me. There are no valid excuses for losing a game mentally, physically and statistically in the first 5 minutes of a match, against last year's wooden spooners no less.
-
Really? Not even a dull headache?
-
Watts. Tapscott's hardness and desperation. Trengove's marking. Garland.
-
The body language of this team tonight is shocking. Suck it up princesses, and show us something. So much finger pointing, yelling, confusion... sort your sh*t out. FFS!
-
F'ing disgusting. This is like 2008/09 all over again, except with no reward at the end for losing. This club has a LOT to answer for. And I'm probably the most patient, least reactionary Melbourne supporter you'll ever find, but even I'm getting fed up.
-
Gysberts off... on this huge ground you take off a midfield runner and replace him with a forward when we've kicked 32 points in 3 quarters of football. WHAT THE F?! There is no excuse for being so lazy, so careless, so utterly limp. They have to make changes for the sake of showing these players that you have to earn games by trying. I don't care if they stuff up their kicks or decision making, but MAKE A GODDAMN EFFORT! Ugh, this week needs to end already.
-
Vomit. Worst game Frawley has played since his first season.
-
We are terribly out of form, and by that I mean that our best players from last year in Green, Frawley and Davey are in shizen form. Our captain has completely lost the plot as a player, we still can't clear the ball out of the back half and when we lose a clearance we nearly always concede a goal due to lack of pressure. The positive thing for me is that the hardest part, which is getting a talented list, is done. Game plans and coaches are much easier to change than a list. At least I don't have to watch us suck knowing that our list is made up of hacks and has-beens. There is a lot of talent and a lot of development to come. what I'd love to know is what we need to do in order to wake these players up, because we seem to sleep through many quarters this season.
