The difference on Saturday night was highlighted in a rare piece of commentary vision, which showed Freo with one extra backman, every time Dees pushed a player forward, they made sure they had one extra, back there. That left one less around the fall of the ball, they didn't care if we won the clearance, fair chance it was coming back anyhow. That's really good coaching and a team that know their role. I think we crowd the fall of the ball, often get in each others way and teams have worked us out, (a plan is only a good plan till someone figures it out) this is why we have been less effective in the past couple of weeks, we need to adjust the plan, have less at the fall of the ball and more in positions forward and back.... Might just work.

After 22hrs of hand wringing I've decided to look on the positive. My top five positive things to come out of last nights game 1. Howe's smother (not Howes mother as i originally typed it...mind you I haven't actually met his mother) 2. Kent's Goal on the run 3. Sylvia is a spud and even in a good team he is ordinary and I'm glad he went 4. Jack Viney's ability to gut run and make opportunities 5. Nathan Jones' ability to shake a tag and still be trying at the very end and one extra Roos for his ability to know exactly where this team is at, and hopefully know what we need to fix it

Watching yesterday, I couldn't help noticing how far the umpires were away from the action, one umpire paid a free to Gold Coast, from about 80m's away., incidentally the resulting free went out of bounds on the full. But the umpires must be instructed where they stand, they just seem too far away to get the 50 50 ones right.

The marketing of the logo etc is equivalent to Demon shop that no one knows is there, I personally like the shield, but a blood curdling devil/demon would be a great mascotty thing.

Byrnes...In a heartbeart, forget that he kicked two goals last week, he was lucky to be on the end of a great run by Watts and kicked another 30m out. Didn't see him do anything else.

I would have thought that "the Wizard" might be considered a true rover, albeit mainly on the forward line. but his anticipation at the drop of the ball was as good as any.

When you consider that we have given them 3 goals by kicking backwaeds and gifting them the ball, a 5 goal 3/4 deficit is reasonable
