  1. Wow, some great memories there!! I've followed MFC since the late 60s. But I only started going to matches in the early 70s. With one or 2 exceptions, I was at every match referred to from 1987 onwards. Ah yes, the 1987 Western Oval match ... The finals .... And I agree that there were some exceptional players over the years. None better than Robert Flower (RIP). To use that classic cliche, an ornament to the game!!!!
  2. I suspect White isn't much of a player. But in fairness to him, he's only played 3 senior games. I think we need to cut Wagner a bit of slack too; first game back. Kennedy and AVB were both poor. Grimes was deplorable, and there seems little doubt that yesterday's debacle was his last game. 3 omissions. I'm not convinced about Frost, but at least he's fast. I suspect he would have been of some use against Saints.
  3. Yeah, just doesn't get the ball enough.
  4. It was dreadful. I wish I hadn't gone. The only upside was winning $30 by backing St Kilda. I went to the Etihad match earlier this year. And quite a few of the other losses there to the Saints. I'm obviously into self flagellation.
  5. I have a mate who plays for St Kilda too. He said that Montagna was playing in the ruck, Reiwoldt is having the day off to go house hunting (so won't be playing) and they will be playing a 9 man forward line!!! Oh yeah, and Jack Steven will be lining up on Hogan.
  6. I stand to be corrected, but I have the feeling he wanted to go home (Adelaide) for personal reasons. He was always going to be a star, and MFC certainly didn't want to lose him. I'm pretty sure the Club tried very hard to keep him. But good on him. Absolute champion.
  7. Brian Taylor. What a fool. "Lyons kicks the winning goal". Really? 6 minutes to go. Adelaide were 23 points up before the kick.
  8. They are, in fact, the same person. Hmm, I'm not sure whether I hate the Scott brothers (combined) more than Triplechins.
  9. I also hate that odious little fat girl playing the recorder in the AAMI commercial.
  10. Yes, I hate Thomas too. And Harvey, And Buckley, Hodge, and too many others to mention. It would probably be simpler to name those individuals I don't hate.
  11. I'm not sure which of the Scott brothers I hate more. Any suggestions/comments so I can make a decision?
  12. I stand to be corrected, but isn't Eade the coach of Gold Coast Suns?
  13. Yes, 199 is a dwarf ruckman these days.
  14. I agree with the comments about disposal efficiency. Little chip kicks sideways are given a tick, even though a longer kick downfield was available. As far as I know, even a handball to a teammate under pressure is considered OK. (I stand to be corrected.) M. Jones (i think it was) passed to a teammate. It was an up and under kick which, fortunately his teammate marked. It should have been a much lower kick, so that his teammate had an uncontested mark. For all its failings, the stat would have been given a "tick". On a similar theme, I'm not sure what constitutes a tackle for stats purposes. Does anyone know if broken/ineffectual tackles count, or do they have to stick? Is anyone still reading this?
  15. Good on him for playing a great game. But one good game against poor opposition hardly cements his future. I find it amusing to read post saying things like "the critics can swallow their words!!" One swallow doesnt make a summer!!!!
  16. Hunt is great. He provides the run that the Prince tried to (unsuccessfully).
